Bearded Collie

Thanks so much to Hilary and the committee at Guildford and District for the invitation to judge Beardies and to my stewards for a well run ring. I really appreciate the entries and those dogged exhibitors who came out on the day. I know the big job it is to take a coated breed out to a show in filthy weather and I am so grateful for every one of you.

Post Graduate (2)

1. BOWDEN’S, Subessen the Wonder of You JW

23 month old blue dog with a super strong head and excellent pigment. Mouth correct and nice expression. He has good shoulder angulation with an overall neat front assembly. He is not yet suited and booted but the coat that’s coming is harsh. His obvious balance and use of himself on the move won him this class. He demonstrated lovely long reaching, supple strides and moved in tune with his handler.

2. DUMBRELL’s, Cheryshd The Way You Are by Bethlyntee

2 year old brown dog presents a beautiful picture on the stand. He has nice, balanced head properties and a moderate stop giving a lovely deep, enquiring expression and he has plenty of brain room. He has a lovely reach of neck into a long, deep rib with a hard short loin. He has all the correct angles and he is in excellent, fit condition but struggled to concentrate on the job today and didn’t demonstrate his best movement. It will be lovely to see him outside in the summer where he can put himself to best use.

Open (4, 2 abs)

1. BOWDEN’S, Subessen Heart of Hearts

7 year old slate bitch with a nice head that fills your hand. Gorgeous dark pigment and a super soft, affectionate expression. I was taken with her femininity. Overall notes on this bitch say “strength and muscle with finesse”. She has a moderate reach of neck into nicely angulated shoulders. She is well ribbed and in very fit condition with a nice harsh jacket to finish. Nothing is overdone with this bitch and I feel like she could have gone on and on all day no matter the terrain.

BOB

2. O’CONNELL’S, Potterdale Royal Sapphire of Atherleigh

3 year old blue bitch who is so very beautiful. She has the nicest expression and had me swooning. She has a nicely made head, with overall strength, excellent pigment and a nice square, flat skull. She has a nice flow of neck and has a long deep rib and short loin. She is in lovely condition and moved well, demonstrating a confident, steady temperament but she could not match 1st for collection and balance on the move today.
