Herts & Essex Border Canine Soc. Premier Open Show 22nd March 2026.

Thank you to the Society for the invitation, a very enjoyable day was had. Special thank you to my Steward, who kept everything running smoothly at all times, its much appreciated. Thank you also to the exhibitors for their entries. All dogs were clean and well presented.

BEARDED COLLIES

PUPPY. 1.

1ST VJ RUDD. BRIERY KNOB HOME TO LUBIN (IMP USA) Stood alone but deserved her 1st, strong head developing, soft, kind expression, smooth gait, covered ground well. BP.

JUINOR. 1.

1ST MR & MRS OSBORNE. POTTERDALE PRIME EDITION. 14 Month old dog, well proportioned head, correct arched neck flowing into withers, moved out well.

LIMIT. 4. 1 ABSENT

1ST MRS LEE-FINGLAS BRAEMOORS QUITE THE CATCH FOR RICHEATH (IMP NLD) NAF. 5 yrs bitch, well proportioned head, lovely affectionate expression, correct angles in front and rear, gaited smoothly with minimal effort. RBOB.

2ND. MISS R NEWSOM. BEARDORA ON THE HUH. 3ys dog, strong in head, good substance, nice proportions fore and rear, moved smooth when settled, well handled.

OPEN 2.

1ST VJ RUDD. LUBINS LONDON CALLING. 6 yr dog, breed standard calls for alert, lively, self-confident & active - this boy had it all! Good coat, strong in head, excellent front. In good condition, well muscled throughout, gaited smoothly, pleased to award him BOB.

ROTTWEILERS

PUPPY. 1.

1ST. MRS BP LEE. CHAPMEEK TOKYO VIA LEEBEE. 10 month bitch. Beautiful head, well proportioned giving a strong yet feminine expression, dark eye, tight feet, level topline, excellent forechest for a youngster, slightly longer in loins, moved with true reach and drive, best mover of the day. I predict a bright future for this young lady. Pushed hard for BOB, but lost out to maturity - her day will come. Pleased to award her RBOB & BP.

JUNIOR. 0.

LIMIT. 2. 1 Withdrawn.

1ST MISS A HEWITT & MR D FRANCIS. RAUCHIGROTTS HAUS FINESSE. Clearly a high drive bitch, almost 2 yrs old, strong in head, dark eye, correct patterns with tight feet. Good forechest, when moved at the correct pace she has good reach and drive but has a tendency to want to fly around the ring - rottweilers are endurance trotters, not speedsters. Well handled and deserved her BOB today.

OPEN. 1.

1ST MISS A HEWITT & MR D FRANCIS. SCG CH CONSTANTIN WIZARD MONTENEGRO ROTT (IMP MNE) 3 yr male, of correct 9:10 proportions, sadly lacking in the breed currently, strong in head, muzzle too short, dark eye, good forechest, level topline, has lots of substance, same applies regards moving as his kennelmate, yes he is high drive, but when moved slower, you can see his virtues much clearer.

JUNIOR HANDLING 6-11 YRS. 3. 2 ABSENT

1ST. THEODORE CLEWLOW AGE 7. Handling a Border Terrier. Looking super smart in his trousers, matching waistcoat & bow tie! Listened well to my instructions, used the whole ring, spoke to his dog throughout. Stood alone but well deserved 1st. Top tip - practice straight lines.

JUNIOR HANDLING 12-16 YRS 4. 3 ABSENT.

1ST ELEANOR MOYLAN AGE 14. Handled a whippet puppy at their first show & did a lovely, sympathetic job with such a novice puppy. Looked nice and smart in her dress, corners were nice and neat. Another well deserved 1st. Top tip - remember judging begins the moment you enter the ring.

ADULT HANDLING 12. 8 ABSENT.

All 4 handlers were pretty much faultless and I had a challenge to place 1-4! Well done to all 4 of you - a credit to the Handling world!

1ST KATIE DAWSON. Won due to her quiet, unobtrusive handling, not an easy task with the larger breeds. Excellent corners, moved dog at correct pace, spoke kindly to her dog throughout. Well done on making the dog the star!

2ND SHIOBHAN LEA. Never took her eyes off the judge, dog was well presented at all times, moved at correct pace for her dog, corners were so neat and tidy. Well done!
