Breed: Kooikerhondje and Schipperke

Coventry Foleshill CS open show 1/11/2026

I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge Kooikerhondje and Schipperkes today. I was delighted with the quality of the dogs present today.

Kooikerhondje

1. Harvey’s Twybrook Romeo’s Magic of Folkshire JW. D. This young man is just over a year old and appears very well developed for his age. Shown in super condition and coat with richly coloured orange-red patches. Balanced masculine head showing a slight stop, dark brown oval eyes, and well feathered ears complete with the desired black ‘ear rings’. Good length of neck leading into a firm, level top line and good spring of rib, finishing with a well set-on tail carried just above the level of his back. Scored highly on the move with an easy ground covering gait, looking particularly good in profile with good reach and drive, which gave him the edge in the challenge today. Pleased to award him BOB.

1. Gutteridge’s Twybrook Rotkappchen of Geduld. B. Attractive young lady, I liked her overall size with good balance. Feminine headpiece, showing a slight wedge, dark brown oval eyes, and her ears are well feathered with black ‘ear rings’, they could perhaps be carried a tad closer to her cheeks. Good length of neck and holding a firm, level top line both standing and on the move, with a decent spring of rib. Good hindquarters, well feathered tail but carried a little curled on the move. I thought she had the better front, and she scored well on the move, positive, with a brisk easy action. Shown in lovely coat and condition.

2. Gutteridge’s Benitin Trojan of Geduld. D. Mature lad just into veteran. Lovely head, clearly masculine whilst not being overdone, dark brown oval eyes giving a kind expression, his well feathered ears frame his face complete with black ‘ear rings’. Good neck, firm level back, well sprung ribs, muscular loin,  finishing in a well feathered tail. Shown in lovely coat and condition with his quite large patches of orange-red markings. Not quite as tidy in front as the winner today both standing and on the move, but he does have good profile action with a springy gait.

Schipperke

All dogs shown today were carrying black coats.

1. Manners & Scales’ Roopec Oh Emm Gee (NBT) JW. This young lady caught my eye straight away, very typical in outline, cobby, compact and so nicely balanced. Very pretty head which is well balanced, neat erect ears which she uses to advantage, and the darkest of well shaped eyes giving a lovely foxy expression. She has a nice flow, with good reach of neck into a firm top line with balanced angulations fore and aft. Good bone and neat feet all topped off with a dense harsh jacket and you can see her mane is developing. An attentive showgirl who carried herself well on the move with a purposeful brisk gait. Delighted to award her BP.

2. Hood’s Schipdale’s Caped Crusader with Arathorn. D. A little bigger and taller than the winner, but a lovely chap with a nicely balanced masculine head with flat skull, neat well set on ears and the darkest of oval eyes which gives him a lovely foxy expression. Developing well through his body, he stands well under his body with straight forelegs on small neat feet. Strong neck into well sloped shoulders, firm top line and well rounded rump. Felt he was a bit unsettled on the table and stack as he was constantly looking for food, but when concentrating, he showed that he has a good brisk gait looking particularly good in profile. Shown in lovely coat and condition.

1. Thorne’s Schipdale’s Lady Shiva. B. Feminine young lady, shown in super coat and condition, just appearing slightly longer in body whilst she’s waiting to fill her frame and her brisket to drop a little more. Pretty head, which shows good balance, neat erect ears and the darkest of eyes, which give her a lively and alert typical foxy expression. She has a short neck with a slight arch leading on to well-placed shoulders, her forelegs are straight and set well under her body. Carried herself well on the move covering the ground well with short brisk strides.

1. Thorne’s Ch/CAN/AM CH Mardeck’s Where The Magic is at Schipdale (Imp CAN) D. (NBT). A striking veteran dog, fully mature with a very typical outline, cobby, compact and so nicely balanced. Lovely head, neat erect ears, dark oval eyes all giving him a lively and alert typical foxy expression. Good legs and feet, and he stands well under his body, slightly arched strong neck, deep through his brisket and a short level back finishing with a well rounded rump. Shown in super coat, dense and harsh complete with lovely mane. Stylish on the move, very sound and free moving with the desired brisk action. Delighted to award him BOB.

2. Jones’ Roopec Made For Me. B. Nice type of girl but not quite as short coupled as winner in outline and appeared to be carrying a little too much weight today. Pretty head with good balance, neat erect ears and dark oval eyes, giving her an alert foxy expression. Good width and depth to her chest, with good spring of rib, ending with a well rounded rump. Well presented coat which could be a touch harsher. She wasn’t very happy being gone over on the table today but once on the floor she seemed to settle down and showed me that she can move very well with an easy brisk stride.
