Thanks to the Society for my invitation to judge and thanks to my efficient stewards for keeping the ring in order, especially during the large AV/Stakes classes.

Bulldogs

Pleased that on a hot day there were no dogs that caused concern with their breathing. 

Puppy (4.1)

1st Kent’s Unverdadero Stand N Deliver - 9mth old Red & White Bitch. Pretty Girl, with good width of forehead, well placed Rose ears and head clean of excessive wrinkling. Dark well placed eyes which are clean and clear. Lovely feminine expression. Good width to lower jaw and tight fitting tidy flews . Straight front and good bone, lovely, neat feet and tight pasterns. Moderate length of neck. Good depth of brisket and well sprung ribs. Topline has gentle rise over loin finishing with well set free moving tail. Good depth and thickness to thigh and well let down hocks. Maybe just a tad longer in loin that 2nd but I preferred her cleaner movement. BP and was pleased to see her take UPG3.

2nd Hanslow’s - D’or Wood Armored Glory at Burenperro 8 mth old Dog white with small amount of red ear markings. Broad skull of good length, dark well placed eye and wide cheeks. Large nose pad but would have preferred slightly more open nares. Not the upsweep of lower jaw of first. Front is straight and well boned with tidy feet, feel he needs to drop in brisket. Compact in body shape with good arch over loin and tail of excellent length and size. Good spri80ng of rib and short muscular loin. Hindquarters have good length, well let down hocks. Moved soundly in all directions.    

Special Yearling (1,0)

1st Stoneman’s Avaword Gina Rocking Rebel At Memphisflash 1 year old R/W bitch . Balanced, compact and feminine. Flat skull with good width between high set ears, although felt these could have been a little neater. Large nose pad which is tipped back. Excellent Pigmentation . Good width and depth to muzzle and tidy flews. Wide lower jaw with good upsweep. Nice arch to neck which is of good length . Straight in front with enough bone for size and has strength in pasterns and lovely tight feet. Good shoulder placement. Topline and underline complement each other. Free moving tail. Hind quarters are strong and muscular with thick thighs and low set hocks. Sound and straight on the move.

Limit (2,1) 

1st Fisher’s Waneta Boris 3yr old R/W dog. Pleasing head with skull of good length and broad flat forehead with well-placed neat ears. Over nose wrinkle which doesn’t impede dark round eyes or nose, which is large and well tipped back with good nostrils. Wide lower jaw and well fitted flews. Good bone to front and substance throughout. Wide chest and enough length of neck. Good spring of rib and tuck up. Just felt he was a little bum high in outline without the rounding off over loin and would prefer more bend of stifle. Tail OK. Moved out well coming and going.

1st Nash’s Smoochabull the Siege JW – 2.5yrs Brindle and White Dog, Standard Size with good substance and strength throughout. Lovely head properties, with wide flat skull and well-placed neat Rose ears. Lovely wide set dark round clear eyes in line with prominent stop. Well placed large nose pad with amazing open nares. Broad in muzzle and good width to lower jaw, tight fitting lips. Front on has lovely tacked on shoulder , good width of chest and straight well boned forelegs with tight pasterns and feet. Strong neck of moderate length . Deep in brisket and well-rounded ribs. Muscular hindquarters with adequate bend of stifle. Topline has required rise over loin, and a free moving tail of good length. Was a little unsettled at first on the ramp but once in his stride on the move, moved out well with typical roll. Really like him and pleasure to award him BOB.

Puppy (2,1)

1st Smith’s Dalamour’s Irish Rose 11 mth old Black Spotted bitch . Good width to flat skull and with well-placed ears and pleasing proportions throughout head , with very feminine expression. She has good bone in front and super tight feet. Nice arch to her neck into well laid shoulders, elbows set close to her chest, felt she could just have a tad more breadth of chest. In profile, deep in rib, good firm top line which she holds on the move. Muscular hindquarters. Moved out well coming and going with powerful long stride. BP 

Special Yearling (2,1) 

1st Story-Taylor’s Bayonspark Zeus At Kesteven 23 month old black spotted dog. Strong head, broad skull and strong in muzzle, tight fitting lips with good pigmentation. Dark eye of good shape. Well placed ears. Straight well boned front with nice tight feet. Deep chest and good spring of rib and is well ribbed back. Defined withers and firm top line. Well-muscled strong hindquarters , good turn of stifle. Powerful on move , although tail carriage could be lower.

1st Stubbins Perdita’s Bean A Stormy Ride JW 2 year old black spotted bitch. Lovely temperament. Evenly marked. Nice for Size and well balanced. Pleasing head with flat skull and good proportions throughout. Lovely expression. Good width between straight front legs. Well Laid shoulder and tight fitting elbows. Defined wither and strong top line. Correct tail carriage . Well-muscled hind with good turn of stifle. Smooth and sound mover.

2nd Wootton & Gardinor’s - Hebemor Adonis Blue By Dakata 2 year old dog more heavily spotted than 1st. Good muzzle to skull proportions, Flat skull with well-placed ears. Good length of neck into defined wither. Strong and straight boned in front. Body has good spring of rib, and he is well ribbed back. Enough bend of stifle just felt he lacked a little in muscle on hind quarters. Sound on move.

1st Alexander & Collier’s Offordale Jazz JW 2 year old Black spotted bitch . Very elegant and well balanced. Super feminine expression, good width to her flat skull, muzzle to skull proportions are correct. Well placed ears , dark eye and tight fitting lips. Elegant in neck. Good front assembly, Straight in front, super tight feet. In profile has well defined wither and level topline which was held on move. Shapely throughout, well angulated and muscled hindquarters very sound and powerful on the move and well handled . BOB 

2nd Stubbin’s Perdita’s Aurelia 6 yrs Black Spotted Bitch, cleanly marked . Pleasing head proportions with good width of skull and muzzle in proportion. Nicely placed ears, good eye. Elegant neck leading to defined withers, Strong bone to front and has spring to pasterns. Deep in rib and well ribbed back. Strong muscular loin and well-muscled and angulated hind. Good ground coverage on the move. Just preferred the overall size, femininity and balance of 1st.

1st Chesterfield’s Burnsett Onyx 9mth old Black Bitch, Pleasing for size and overall proportions and presented in good coat. Good length to muzzle, feminine expression. Dark eyes and good dentition. Well arched neck. Straight front with enough bone. Topline level and held firm on the move. Well carried tail. Short strong loin. Sound and free mover. BP and pleased to hear she took UPG1.

Special Yearling (2,1)

1st Chesterfield’s Aintshe Unlock The Swag into Burnsett 18mth old B&W Dog. Sturdy in build. Skull moderately narrow, well placed dark eyes. Good head Furnishings. Muzzle of correct length. Good dentition. Well arched neck of good length into well laid shoulder assembly and good amount of forechest. Level topline and well placed tail. Moved out with typical jaunty movement.

1st Duff’s Jodak’s Party All Night with Barnlou 3 yr old Cream/White Bitch , who presented a well-proportioned balanced type with typical haughtiness. In beautiful coat and condition, Feminine in head with dark well placed eye. Good in muzzle proportions with correct bite and good amount of chin. Strong level topline with well carried tail. She moves out so well , with free and easy movement, always holding topline and tail. BOB and UGP2

2nd Adam-Slomkowski’s Srb/Rom/Bih/Mtn/Swiss/Pol/Bel/Sk Ch Frank Dreamed a Dream at Skylax JW 2yr old Gold Dog well balanced in profile. Dark medium eyes, Skull is moderately narrow and he has correct length to muzzle and good bite. Strong in body with good spring of rib. Excellent tail carriage. Sound and free mover but just felt he was unlucky to meet 1 who was on top form today.

Shar Pei

Puppy (3,1). 

1st Morris’ Ashowai Rockin Robin – Red fawn Bitch , 6 months . Preferred her overall compactness and clean head. She has an attractive head and lovely expression. Good proportions with broad muzzle which is nicely padded. Neat small ear. Medium almond eye of good colour. Correct dentition and pigmentation. Straight in front with good feet and tight elbows. Correct in topline with rise over loin. Muscular rear with moderate angulation and she moved out freely in all directions. Well handled . BP

2nd Hargreaves & Allsopp- Ashowai Truly Scrumptious – Red fawn litter sister to 1. She is slight less compact than her sister and not quite as forward in development. Feminine head with good proportions. Well placed almond eye. Good Bite and correct pigmentation. Straight front with enough bone. Not quite the Spring of Rib of 1st, Topline has slight rise and well placed tail. Good thickness to hindquarters . Lovely temperament. Sound on move , straight and free in all directions.  

 Special Yearling (1,0) 

1st Knox’s Wyldette Lilith Never Eve 19mth old Red Bitch Lovely type who just seemed to be feeling the heat a bit today. Compact in body with good spring of rib and broad chest. Head has good proportions to muzzle, moderate wrinkling on forehead. Clean in eye , which are dark and almond shaped. Correct dentition. Straight in front with good bone , well laid shoulders. Correct in topline. Moderate angulation behind with firm muscular hind quarters. Free and straight on move, holding topline in profile.

Sutherland & Bradley’s Ch Eki Zimurrak Jolerob When Your Smile for Witchgait 5 year old Dog. Strong and masculine head, with good length of skull and muzzle proportions. Muzzle is moderately broad and has typical padding. Straight front with good amount of bone. Elbows lay correctly close to body. Neck is well set onto shoulders and of medium length. Topline has correct dip behind withers. Deep in chest. Hind quarters are moderately angulated and well let down hocks. No excessive wrinkling on legs. Very balanced overall. Free in movement , straight and true. BOB & UG3

1st Skawska’s Mapimakastar Nadia Jol Rio – Gold with black mask. 8 mth old Broad head , good width between her large dark round eyes. Correct placement to nose and good open nostrils. Good width of jaw and correct dentition. Neck of good length into well laid shoulders and front with enough bone. Level Topline and tail carried over back. Smooth on move in all directions. BP.

2nd Tullett’s Sassyshi So Beautiful Gold & White bitch with lovely temperament. Broad and round in head shape, with dark round eyes set well apart. Nose is correctly placed in line with eye rims. Enough width of muzzle and good dentition and correct length of ear. In profile, she has nice arch to neck, shoulders are well laid and she has level topline which she held on move. Presented in good coat condition and moved out with typical arrogance. 

Special Yearling (3,0)

1st Shulver’s Shidizzle Quartzite Star of Crimsonleash 14mth G/W Dog on the larger end of the scale. Masculine Broad head with lovely round dark eyes which are wide set and he has a lovely warm expression. Good nostrils. Wide mouth with small undershot, teeth straight. Sturdy . Well boned , level topline which he held firmly on move. Muscular hind. Moved straight coming and going. Well handled and presented.

2nd Skawska’s Mapimakastar Naila Jol Rio

Litter sister to 1st in Puppy, so giving away a lot in maturity in this class. Pretty expression. Pleasing proportions to head. Lovely dark eye. Sturdy through with good bone to front. Nicely arched neck which allows for proud head carriage. Topline is firm , tail set on high and carried over back. She moved out with strong and smooth action.

2nd Skawska’s Mapimakastar Lady Sat Al JW 23 mth, Gold Brindle/White Bitch. Rounded broad skull, dark eye giving warm expression. Muzzle has enough width. Felt nose could be slightly higher set but has good nares. Correct undershot and dentition. Presented in good coat. Sturdy in body and well proportioned throughout. Tail carried well over back. Another sound on the move with good free easy action.

Moore’s Ch Unstoppable Alpiu Slenis To Jaxtzu JW ShCEx OSW 2 year old g/w I judged this boy as a puppy in 2024, and it was a pleasure to get to see him again now matured and he didn’t disappoint. Presented in fabulous condition. He retains his well-balanced proportions and excellent well balanced head properties , with short square muzzle and correct bite. Dark eyes. Arched neck. Good width to chest. Topline level and he holds it firmly on the move. Good behind and moved out with style showing pad. BOB. 

AV Veteran (28,11)

1st Allchorne’s Nelgus Thyme Flies ShCEx Basset Hound 7yr old sturdy and masculine and full of substance throughout with great character. Well balanced in profile . Strong bone to front and tight elbows. He has good depth of body. Pleasing domed head with low set ears of correct length. Well arched neck. Short in hocks and muscular hindquarters. He moved out smoothly covering the ground well and with purpose and always holding his topline firm.

2nd Lee-Morris’ Michandy Back In Time at Pupstar Poodle(Miniature) 7 year old Black male presented in excellent condition and groomed to perfection. At the larger end of the scale, but a quality dog, nonetheless. Masculine head with lovely expression, dark almond shaped eyes , strong foreface, well defined chin and tight fitting lips. Carries head high. Deep chest and well rounded ribs. Muscular hind and moved out freely with style.

Boston Lucky Dip Puppy Stakes (72,47)

1st O’Donnell’s Kalaslane Irish Eyes At Neukiebear (Russian Black Terrier) 11month old and full of substance. She is strong in head with good width of skull but retains femininity. Good dentition. Well boned straight front, deep chest and good spring of rib . Balanced in profile with muscular short loin and well-muscled hind quarters and good bend of stifle. Presented in excellent coat. Covered the ground with easy free powerful movement. Loved her and topped this class in some tough competition.

2nd Kirkwood-Emery’s - Helydon Yer Yolo Dachshund (Min Wire-Haired) 9 mth old Absolutely adorable girl, really was taken with her. She has the most gorgeous expression , she is an extremely tidy package with lovely head properties, clean in neck. Has the required prominent breastbone and well angulated in front with strong bone. She is lovely size and shape in profile and has depth to chest but still with adequate ground clearance. Straight and Parallel in rear. Held her topline on the move and moved out with drive.
