Judge – Tracey Anscombe

Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge at your show and for providing such lovely rosettes. I would also like to thank my steward for their invaluable assistance throughout the day, and all the exhibitors for bringing their dogs under me and accepting my decisions so graciously.

Any Variety Puppy Stakes

1st – Dynar Forget Me Not at Angelscove

A very promising 9-month-old Samoyed well-made and balanced throughout, with the strong yet graceful outline so typical of the breed. Sparkling white coat framed a dark, well-set eye, giving the alert, intelligent expression associated with the Samoyed. Compact, active and full of quality, making a most pleasing picture.

2nd – Bincombefarm The Hippogrif

A smart 10-month-old Pomeranian with plenty of ring presence and the lively, extrovert character expected of the breed. Compact and well knit, he showed a pleasing short-coupled outline and carried himself with the brisk, buoyant deportment so important in a Pom. Well-handled and beautifully presented.

Bull Terrier Limit 2 Entries

1st Razorsedge Berry Lane at Tegenbull - BOB

White male with plenty of substance, strongly built, muscular and well balanced. His dark, almond-shaped eye gave the keen, determined expression required of the breed, while the masculine, well-filled headpiece was long, strong and deep. Strong neck and powerful hindquarters completed the picture. He moved freely with power and drive, tracking true and remaining active throughout.

2nd Archetype Tosheroon for Waybully JW

Very attractive red-and-white bitch, slightly smaller in stature but still powerful, well-knit and unmistakably feminine. Her head and body were in pleasing proportion, with a balanced outline and the strength expected of the breed without coarseness. She moved adequately and presented a smart, active picture.

Bull Terrier Open 2 Entries

1st Teirwgwyn Miss Hazel of Waybully - RBOB

Well-schooled brindle-and-white bitch, full of breed type and a pleasure to go over. Her attractive, well-shaped head had strength and fill, complemented by a keen expression and the muscular, well-balanced build. Well-conditioned and firmly made throughout. Unfortunately, she did not settle sufficiently on the move today to show her true potential, though her quality was clear.

2nd Villensia Pink Grapefruit at Tegenbull ShCEx

Attractive red-and-white bitch with a feminine, breed-typical appearance. Strongly built yet balanced, she showed the clean outline and active character expected of the breed. Very little separated these two on the day.

Airedale Terrier - Graduate 1 Entries

1st: Muliebrity Mystic Topaz - BOB G1 RBIS

A mature, masculine dog presenting the sturdy, fairly cobby outline expected of the largest of the terriers, without appearing leggy or overlong. His long, clean head was well balanced between skull and foreface, with a keen, intelligent expression. Clean, muscular neck flowed into well-laid shoulders; he was firm through the body, with strong quarters and a level topline. Shown in excellent hard, wiry jacket and good condition, he moved with the quick, free, purposeful action characteristic of the breed, holding his shape throughout. Confident and alert, he commanded the ring to take BOB and Group 1, and I was delighted to learn that he later gained Reserve Best in Show.

Bedlington Terrier - Graduate 1 Entries

1st Kinnuva Plakwaaier at Dunkeswell – BPIB RBOB PG3

A 7-month-old puppy with much promise, already showing the breed’s distinctive graceful, lithe outline without weakness or coarseness. The pear-shaped head and soft topknot gave the correct gentle expression, while the youthful body showed the beginnings of the characteristic arched loin and neat tuck-up. One to watch as maturity develops.

1st Calavey’s Phoenix – BOB BPIB PG1 BPIS

At just 8 months, he already possessed plenty of ring presence and evident breed type. His compact, balanced outline and confident, active demeanour suited this working terrier, and he moved true while holding his shape. An exciting puppy who was BOB, BPIB and Puppy Group 1; I was thrilled that he went on to Best Puppy in Show.

1 – Jack Russell Terrier

2 – Parson Russell Terrier

Rodzina Remember Alice

A very smart Parson Russell Terrier puppy with the balanced, workmanlike outline required of this active breed. Agile and free from exaggeration, the youngster showed good flexibility, a confident outlook and the racy build needed for stamina and endurance. A close decision between two lovely puppies.

3 – Bedlington Terrier

4 – Border Terrier

Sherdonwater Briar Rose

Sweet Border Terrier bitch who moved truly and showed the active, game character of this essentially working breed. Her outline was narrow and workmanlike, with the soundness needed to follow a horse. She carried more weight than ideal, which softened the fit, capable picture, but her movement and overall appeal remained pleasing.

AV Veteran – Best Veteran in Group

Hansulle You Got It at Glenaffric

An 11-year-old Welsh Terrier who was a delight to judge. He retained the smart, compact and workmanlike outline expected of the breed, together with an alert outlook and the active, game character of a true terrier. His balanced proportions and firm condition served him well, and he moved freely for his age.
