My thanks to the committee for the invitation to judge and for their warm hospitality throughout the day. I would also like to thank my steward for her assistance and the exhibitors for their entries and sporting attitude. Overall, I found a pleasing level of breed type throughout the entry, with several exhibits displaying good construction and presentation. Temperaments were excellent and I found no major faults in the exhibits presented. However, on the day I did feel that the Whippet entry, while containing quality examples of the breed, was somewhat lacking in the freedom and drive of movement I would ideally expect, which ultimately influenced my final placings.

AV Pink Surprise Post Graduate Stakes

1 Rosschell Maid to Sparkle with Jopium JW (Australian Shepherd)

Quality bitch who immediately appealed for her balance, ring presence and overall breed type. Feminine head with kind, attentive expression and good eye. Clean neck flowing into well laid shoulders and a well proportioned body with firm topline. Strong hindquarters which she used well on the move, showing excellent reach and drive around the ring. Presented in excellent condition and handled sympathetically to take this strong class.

2 Clentry Steal the Limelight (Dachshund – Smooth Haired)

Very typical exhibit with pleasing head properties and correct expression. Good length of body with well carried topline and correct proportions throughout. Nicely constructed with adequate bone and moved soundly with a free, ground covering action.

Well balanced dog with pleasing outline and a masculine head of good type. Good length of neck with correct shoulder placement and developing body showing adequate bone and substance. Held his topline well on the move and moved soundly and confidently around the ring.

2 Negasi Goldberry

Feminine bitch with pleasing head and expression and good overall proportions. Nicely constructed and moved steadily around the ring.

Quality Ridgeback of excellent breed type and overall balance. Strong, masculine head with correct expression and good strength of muzzle. Well-constructed throughout with good length of neck flowing into correctly placed shoulders and a well ribbed body with firm topline. Moved confidently and soundly around the ring with purpose, maintaining balance and outline on the move. Presented in excellent condition.

2 Jimanns Hell on Heels

Bitch with head of correct proportions with lovely expression. Well balanced and sound on the move, just preferred the strength and overall presence of the winner.

Basset Hound Open

1 Blevwil Ron Like the Wind to Burnvale – BOB

Substantial Basset Hound with good bone and correct breed proportions. Pleasing head with correct length and expression, combined with a well constructed, well ribbed body. Level topline for breed and moved soundly around the ring with a steady, purposeful action. Shown in good condition and type, deserving of Best of Breed

1 Scotach Just Chillin – BOB

Elegant Borzoi of excellent breed type and overall quality. Long, clean head with correct proportions and a gentle, intelligent expression. Graceful neck flowing into well laid shoulders, with a well constructed body showing strength without loss of elegance. Correct topline and underline, well ribbed and balanced throughout. Moved freely and effortlessly around the ring with long, ground covering stride, maintaining his outline and breed character at all times.

2 Scotach Need for Speed

Another quality Borzoi of excellent breed type and overall balance. Long, clean head with pleasing proportions and a gentle, intelligent expression. Graceful neck flowing into well laid shoulders and a well constructed body showing strength without loss of elegance. Correct topline and underline, well ribbed and balanced throughout. Moved freely with a long, ground covering stride, just preferred the finish and presence of the winner on the day in a very close decision.

Whippet Puppy

1 Lorbri Seahawk

Good for type with a pleasing outline and overall balance for age. Attractive head and expression with good length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Nicely constructed with correct proportions and developing body. Movement still needs to tighten with maturity, however, was the more confident puppy on the day, showing himself well which secured the win.

2 Loroli Devil in the Detail

Another promising puppy of good type and size with pleasing proportions. Nice head and expression and balanced outline for age. Well-constructed but movement still needs to tighten as he matures, a close decision between two nice youngsters.

Very pleasing junior of good type and overall balance. Attractive head and expression with good length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Nicely proportioned with a developing body and correct outline for age. Still maturing but showed well just had the edge in confidence and ring presence today. An exciting prospect for the future once fully mature.

2 Maybole Second Edition

Another quality junior of good type and size with pleasing proportions. Nice head and expression and balanced outline. Well-constructed and moved OK a very close decision. Another exciting prospect who should continue to develop well with maturity.

Whippet Postgraduate – Another close class

Attractive dog of good type with a balanced outline and pleasing proportions. Nice head and expression with good length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Well-constructed with a firm topline and developing body. Moved soundly with adequate reach and drive, just showing that little bit more strength and purpose on the move today, which secured him first place in a very close decision.

Very pleasing bitch of good type and size with a feminine head and expression. Balanced outline and correct proportions, well put together throughout. Moved steadily and soundly, just preferred the strength and overall presence of the dog on the day in a close run class.

Attractive whippet with beautiful outline and overall balance. Lovely head and expression with good length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Strong hindquarters which enabled him to move with freedom and drive, covering the ground well and maintaining his topline. A quality exhibit presented in excellent condition.

Very pleasing exhibit with good breed type and outline. Moved soundly but just preferred the finish and presence of the winner.

Another quality exhibit with good breed character and pleasing proportions. Sound mover but preferred the overall balance of the winner.

Quality dog with excellent breed type and balance. Pleasing masculine head with correct expression and strong body with good bone and substance. Well-constructed throughout and moved freely with good reach and drive, showing himself well to take the class.

Another quality Miniature Smooth of similar type and size. Pleasing head and expression with good body proportions and construction. Moved soundly and steadily, just preferred the overall presence and finish of the winner on the day in a close decision. Also, a very nice exhibit who I liked very much.

Moved with effortless, flowing stride and great presence around the ring, maintaining his outline at all times.

Well angulated hindquarters which he used well on the move, showing positive, purposeful movement and maintaining his outline. Presented in excellent condition and showing great promise for the future.

A very smart and promising Wire Fox Terrier puppy showing excellent breed type and attitude. Well, balanced with a typical head of good length, flat skull and keen, alert expression. Clean neck flowing into well laid shoulders, with a compact body, correct rib and level topline for age. Well angulated hindquarters which he used well on the move.

Presented in excellent condition for a veteran and a credit to his owner.

Very typical Border Terrier veteran, full of breed type and quality. Otter-like head with keen, intelligent expression and good strength of muzzle. Correct narrow front with well laid ribs, easily spanned and showing the essential construction of the breed. Maintained a firm topline and moved steadily and soundly around the ring, using himself well.

Smart, well-balanced Jack Russell with pleasing outline. Good head proportions with keen expression. Correct length of neck flowing into well-laid shoulders. Compact body with firm topline held on the move. Good depth of chest and well-sprung ribs. Strong hindquarters providing drive, moving freely with good reach and purpose. Presented in excellent condition
