Premier Open Show

BEST IN SHOW – Lewis’s Champion Olphae Charman VW. Otterhound. Dog. 8 years old. Superb head with well-set lengthy ears. Strong made front. Clean well placed neck and well placed shoulders. I liked his overall balance of bone. Good depth of body and well ribbed well back. He is so fit and conditioned he belies his age. Produces such an impressive silhouette on the stand. Moves so easily with a long, easy stride. Thoroughly deserved this honour.

RESERVE BEST IN SHOW – Warren’s Crimlisk Cobos Malbec of Copperfield. Bullmastiff. Dog. 14 months. Beautifully balanced and fit. Quality head with essential squareness, good width of muzzle and excellent strength of underjaw. Quality bone, tight feet, correct angulation front and back demonstrated coming and going. Impressive spring of rib. Quality coat of correct texture. He moved with great power and accuracy. Still relatively young and clearly there is more to come. 

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW – Willett’s Konatian King Of The Road. Shih Tzu. Dog. 6 months and clearly one to take home! He produces a stunning outline. His coat is of very pretty colours, but there is nothing feminine about this boy. Super head, containing large, dark eyes set far apart. Open nose; square, short muzzle; broad head with a rounded skull; high-set ears. Excellent lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Good ribbing and bone. Tail correctly held and well set. On the move, he is so impressive. Presented to perfection and handled most professionally.

RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN SHOW – Phillip’s Tendrow Amazing Grace. Dachshund (Wire Haired). Bitch, 6 months old. An impressive baby. Feminine head with appealing eyes and well-set ears. Lengthy, gently arched neck. Good chest and body, with a good breastbone. Nicely bodied, with good ribbing. Secure, level topline, held both standing and on the move. Well-angulated hindquarters. Coat of good texture for her age. Confident showgirl. Clearly, she is an exciting prospect.

RESERVE BEST VETERAN IN SHOW – Mills & Chatburn’s Ch Zentaur Drop It Like It’s Hot for Oial JW OSW. Newfoundland. Bitch. 8 years. Impressive, demonstrating excellent poise, balance and power. She has excellent coat. Broad head contains lovely dark eyes. Soundly constructed throughout, with good muscle and a deep chest. Her topline is secure. She moves with free, easy strides and good drive. She demonstrates, soundness, substance with feminine and has a lovely attitude. 

RESERVE BEST OF BREED COMPETITION – Moore And James’s Starnewf Mr Dark Sky JW. Dog Newfoundland. 2 years. Black male. 2 years. Well-balanced in shape, with a masculine head of good width. Liked his muzzle proportions and pleasing eyes. Good front angulation and a correctly proportioned body. His neck flows smoothly into well-placed shoulders. Well-ribbed, with a secure topline and excellent rump. Well angulated front and rear produced economical reach and drive.

BEST SPECIAL BEGINNER IN SHOW – Chamberlain’s Lasagesse Killer Queen At Mistioak. English Toy Terrier. 10 months. Neat and compact with lovely coat. Wedged-shaped head correct ears, dark almond eyes which were obliquely set. She has a long graceful neck and well laid shoulders. Good turn of stifle and moved with drive.

1. Kooikerhoundje. Johnson’s Ch Valleyrise Illustratration. B. 8 years. Fit and presented in super coat with distinctive markings and in optimal condition. She is beautifully balanced and of correct proportions. Head contains dark eyes and well set ears with good ‘ear rings’. Well laid shoulders and return of upper arm. Level back; well sprung ribs of correct depth. She is an exceptional mover and flew around the ring like a junior!  

2. Skye Terrier. Holt’s Ch Coriend Let’s Do Justice. B. 3 years. Pushed 1 hard. She has such an appealing well-balanced feminine head coupled with a powerful muzzle. Appealing dark expressive eyes and well-set ears. Neck is long and into well placed shoulders. Strong low body and she holds a secure topline. Correct to tail set. Strong hindquarters aide easy free movement. In excellent coat and condition.

3. Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier. Charleton’s Ch House of Softy Indus (Imp Swd) ShCEx, 7 years.

1. Chow Chow. Bone and Markillie’s Newfangled Bukee Burr. Dog. 1 year. Instantly demonstrates excellent breed character. Fabulous head. Clean, well-set eyes and perfectly placed ears, carried correctly. Good mouth. Short, compact, sturdy body with an excellent tail set. Presented in wonderful coat and condition. A super mover, demonstrating freedom and balance. Lovely temperament. 

2. ETT. Phillip’s Ettology Worth The Wait. B. 11 months. She scores highly in head, being of correct shape with appealing small, dark eyes, and uses her well-placed ears to advantage. Good neck and shoulder layback, with an impressive topline. On the move, she demonstrated correct forehand extension coupled with strong rear drive. Unlucky to meet 1.

1. Shar Pei Wyldette Lilith Never Eve JW. Knox’s. B. 1 ½ years. Scores in head, ears and overall balance breed type and movement. Super overall shape and balance. In beautiful coat and condition. 

2. Irish Terrier Holbam Midsummer Knight at Rushmar JW OSW Shex. Ruffle’s. Dog. 4 years. I have judged him before and admire his overall balance and shape. Good head and eye, neat ears and well balanced head and skull. Excellent neck and shoulder. Sound and true on the move.

1. Rowlinson’s Hanvale Alexandra McQueen. D. 3 years. Correct head planes and has enough length through the skull. Lovely eyes and well set ears aid his pleasing expression. Clean front; correct shoulders. Deep chest of good width. Well bent stifles and strong hocks. Good for tail set. Super coat. BOB

2. Bailey and Ratcliffe’s Beldones Ruby On the Nile. B. 2 years. Good eyes and pigment. Clean, correct dentition. OK for neck and chest. Not happy on the move.

1. Swain’s A touch of Blaze for Lexcol. Tri, B. 4 years. Feminine head and expression, good reach of neck with satisfactory angulation front and rear, good depth of chest, ok bone and feet, was a tad close in rear movement. OK coat. B. RBOB

2. Eardley’s Aqualita Miss Moneypenny. B. 8 ½. Sweet head. Nice eyes. Presented in good condition for age. In good coat. Moved steadily.

1. Powell’s Amethrickeh’s Gold Run at Kimgilee. 9 months. B. Pleasing head and sweet expression. Ears to settle. Well placed neck and excellent forehand from well laid shoulders. Balanced with good topline and good ribbing. Moved well on the uneven ground with a graceful, easy action. BOB & BPIB. 

Post Graduate 2.1

1. Powell’s Truly Alula At Kimgilee. 2 years. She has a lovely head and expression with neat, well carried ears. Good topline and tail set. A toad longer cast. Well-proportioned rear angulations. Moves soundly. RBOB
