Isle Of Ely Canine Society

Isle of Ely Premier Open Show Day 1 - 7th February 2026

It was a pleasure and an honour to be invited by the Isle of Ely committee to judge at their Premier Open Show. Having previously attended as an exhibitor, I have always admired the atmosphere and organisation of this show, so returning in the capacity of judge was particularly meaningful for me.

The weather presented challenges for everyone, yet the committee worked tirelessly to ensure that exhibitors, dogs, and judges were well looked after throughout the day. The show was efficiently run, and the café—serving excellent food—was a very welcome discovery amid the conditions.

I was grateful for the strong entry across all breeds despite the weather. It is an honour when exhibitors choose to enter under me and allow me the privilege of going over their dogs. All exhibits presented with correct bite and dentition in good condition; I did not encounter any poor mouths. A couple of youngsters were new to the ring, and I was pleased to receive messages afterwards from handlers who were happy with how their dogs coped with the busy, distracting environment and appreciated the gentle, patient approach during examination.

Every show is a learning experience for all involved, and I thoroughly enjoyed my day with you.

Hungarian Pumi

1st: 382 WESSON & GILES’S Serteperti Kuplung: 6 month old male of masculine profile, slightly long in body at this stage. Skull still developing but with a pleasing head proportionate to his frame, high set ears folding correctly and dark oval eyes. Neck of good length leading into developing forequarters and a strengthening topline. Lean forelegs. Chest already of good depth with promising ribbing and tidy tuck up. Tail set a little low on a more curved croup, and he dropped it at times, understandable for a youngster adjusting to the bustle of the ring. Hindquarters well made with muscled thighs, parallel hind legs and low set hocks. Puppy coat of correct texture. New to the ring, he nevertheless kept up with his handler and remained lively on the move. Promising youngster. BD, BPIB.
