Skye Terrier

1. Curtis’ Verumamicus Lord Falcor of Brakemill. 11 mth old dog who very much appealed and was good to go over. All male and well boned, he presented a very good outline with a slightly crested neck of good length to balance, firm level back, ribcage of good length, muscular loin and tail pleased for both set and carriage. Quality head with moderate breadth to skull, excellent eye and ear, strength to muzzle and scissor bite. I liked his front assembly and he stands on good feet. When he got going, he went well all through. Very good coat and presentation. Reserve BOB and Best Puppy. Pleased to see he went all the way through to Best Puppy in Show. 

2. Heath’s Skyeshire Princess Ann. 14 mth old bitch who also has much to like. Excellent neck, topline is good but not quite that of winner, ribbing still to fully develop but she has a good length to her ribcage, firm loin and feathered tail just right for set and carriage. Attractive head with feminine expression; correct skull, eyes of good colour, ears pleased for size and set and she has correct dentition. Moving well on the go around and very well handled. Good quality coat.

1. Heath’s Ch Lavauxs Bahamian Chris. 7 yr old dog who I see is the sire of the Junior winner. Quality lad who is very good hands on and he pleased for size and overall balance. Muscular neck of good length, excellent topline, ribcage extends well back, firm loin and tail set on well and of pretty good carriage. Masculine head with the best of expressions; correct skull, excellent eye and ear, strong muzzle and good dentition. I liked his angulation both front and rear and he is well off for bone and was presented with super muscle-tone. Moving cleanly coming and going and lovely free action when viewed in profile. BOB.  

2. Heale & Davies’ Rhoderns Arbika of Trelawneki. 2 yr old dog who is a size bigger than the winner and solidly built. He presented a good outline and is long and low as required. Neck of good length and slightly crested, firm through the topline, very good ribbing, muscular loin and feathered tail good for set and carriage. Quality head with pleasing skull, correct stop, dark expressive eyes, ears are good for size and set, strength to muzzle and scissor bite. Pleasing angles both ends and he is good in forechest too. Gaiting freely on the go around but winner had the edge going away. Good texture to coat.

1. Jones’ Serengoch’s Doing Time. Two 17 mth old littermates competed here. This girl was my winner and although not totally settled and using her tail as she could I felt she scored over her brother overall. Compact with neck of correct length, firm backline, good length to ribcage and muscular loin but croup could be better. Feminine head with pleasing eye and ear and correct dentition. She stands on nice tight feet and gaited freely on the down and back and opened up more than 2 on the go around. Reserve BOB.

2. Williams’ Serengoch’s On The Run. Super temperament on this lad but he was a touch narrow all through for me. Pleasing neck and good depth to chest but could be firmer in croup. Nicely proportioned head with ears set on low and scissor bite. Standing on compact feet and moving ok when coming and going. Well handled.

1. Thomas’ Terina’s Man of Mischief. 7 yr old dog who pleased for bone and was presented in good condition. Slightly arched neck, firm backline, ribbing well sprung, good depth to brisket and muscular loin but could have better carriage of stern. Balanced headpiece with eyes of good colour, ears of correct length and set on low, good dentition and overall pleasing expression. He has excellent feet and when gaiting, he has good drive from the rear and went pretty well on the go around. BOB.

Dachshund (Min Long-Haired)

1. Gunter’s Welingtonway Miss Mischief. 15 mth old black/tan bitch who pleased in outline with good length to neck, excellent topline, correct croup and tail carriage but has a touch more length to loin. Feminine head of good proportions, pleasing skull, expressive eyes of good colour, ears set on well and scissor bite. Good angles both ends and she moves very well in profile and was good coming towards. Feet could be better. BOB. 

2. Gunter’s Welingtonway Muffin Man. 9 mth red dog who doesn’t quite have the neck of the winner and topline still needs to settle. Pleasing head and expression with good skull to muzzle proportions, dark almond-shaped eyes, ears set on high and correct dentition. Moving pretty well on the go around but somewhat wider coming at you. Good quality coat. Best Puppy.

1. Palin’s Sanmik Last Girl. 20 mth old red bitch who presented a balanced outline with very good neck, firm backline and tail pleasing for both set and carriage. Feminine head of good proportions, eyes are nice and dark and ok for shape, ears set on high, slight arch to muzzle and scissor bite. Pleasing angles front and rear and gaiting very well on the go around, nice and firm going away but could be better coming towards. Reserve BOB.

1. Causier’s Captain Caos. 3 yr old dog. Neck of good length, pretty good topline, loin longer than I would prefer but tail pleased for set and carriage. Equal skull to muzzle lengths but with a touch more breadth to skull, expressive dark eyes and correct scissor bite. He has a pleasing length of stride and is nice and firm when going away. Good quality coat and well handled.

2. Palin’s My Classic Cream by Sanmik. 2 yr old bitch who couldn’t quite match the outline of winner and topline was tending to roach on the day. Having said that she has a decent neck and tail was good for set and carriage. Feminine headpiece which is well proportioned, eyes are nice and dark, ears set on well and correct dentition. She stands on good feet. Moves ok on the go around but winner had the edge. Good quality coat. 

Dachshund (Smooth-Haired)

1. Hinwood’s Longmel Columbus Truffle. Shaded red dog of 2 yrs. Not totally settled on the day but it turned out he was with an unfamiliar handler. He presented a good outline with long, muscular neck, excellent topline, correct croup and tail set and carried just as required. Attractive head with equal skull to muzzle lengths, almond-shaped eyes of correct set, ears set on well and scissor bite. Very good keel and stands well in front on excellent feet. Moving well when viewed in profile, also pleasing coming towards and was ok going away. Reserve BOB.

1. Hinwood’s Longmel Courvoisier Truffle. 2 yr old red dog. Pleasing overall with very good length to neck which is slightly arched, firm through the topline, ribbing carried well back, good underline and tail correct for set and carriage. Conical head of good proportions, expressive eyes, ears set on high and correct dentition. I liked his front assembly and he stands true on very good feet. On the move, he is excellent going away and also pleased coming towards and on the go around. Shown in excellent condition. BOB and later Group 4.

1. Blackshaw’s Vanitonia Jack Inabocks. 10 mth old shaded red dog. Most promising pup who I thought excellent for type and presenting such a good outline. Slight arched neck of good length to give balance, firm backline, correct croup and tail pleased for both set and carriage. Super head and expression with correct conical shape, obliquely placed almond-shaped eyes, ears set on high and scissor bite. I liked his angles front and rear, he stands on such good feet and he is correct in keel. Somewhat reluctant to get going but when he went, he was excellent on the go around and so good when going away too. Reserve BOB, Best Puppy and Puppy Group 2.

1. Blackshaw’s Llansansior Do You Want Me. Two very different bitches challenged in this class with this 21 mth old red taking the win. Pleasing for size and weight she is firm in topline and correct in underline. Feminine, well proportioned head, very good eye and ear, slightly arched muzzle and scissor bite. She stands on good feet and has an excellent keel and return of upper arm. Super temperament and totally using herself on the move, moving out well on the go around but tail just a touch higher as she goes. BOB.

2. Gittins’ Kalhoun Tiger Princess at Boomerloo. Brindle bitch of 21 mths. Muscular neck of good length, ribbing carried well back, topline not quite that of winner, correct croup and tail pleased for set and carriage. Attractive head with good skull to muzzle proportions, eyes of good colour but a little rounder than preferred, ears set on well and good dentition. She has good hind angulation but winner had the edge in front assembly and feet. Accurate when going away and moving ok on the go around.

1. Palin’s My Miracle Girl. Another class which saw two quite different exhibits competing. This 4 yr old shaded red was my winner and she pleased for overall outline and balance. Slightly arched neck of good length, firm through the topline, correct croup and tail pleased for set and carriage. Feminine headpiece which is well proportioned, dark eyes but a touch rounder, ears set on well and good dentition. Pleasing keel and return of upper arm. On the move, she pleased on the go around and is also nice firm when going away. 

2. Gittins’ Boomerloo’s Robin. 3 yr old black/tan dog who couldn’t quite match the neck or topline of the winner. He has a nicely proportioned head with ears set on high and correct dentition. He stands well naturally in front and has good feet. When gaiting he is nice and parallel when viewed from behind and on the go around, he opens up well and he has correct tail carriage as he goes. Well handled.  

Deerhound

1. Wilce-Quinton & Quinton’s Kirjojax Thrilling Thistle. 2 yr old bitch who pleased in outline with clean neck, correct topline, good depth to chest and tail of good length. Very nice head and expression, full of femininity, dark eyes, pleasing ears and good dentition. Firm hindquarters with well bent stifles and when moving, she scored here on the go around. Good texture to coat and well handled. BOB.

2. Tannant’s Sorimsway Snowstorm. 3 yr old bitch who wasn’t entirely settled on the day. Feminine throughout with muscular neck, pleasing topline, brisket of good depth, well arched loin and tail of correct length and carriage. Attractive head of good length, expressive eyes, excellent ears and correct dentition. Standing on compact feet. When gaiting she was somewhat closer going away and couldn’t quite match profile action of 1. Reserve BOB.

1. Tannant’s Sorimsway My Sleepy Hollow. 6 yr old dog who carries good bone. Strong neck, somewhat flatter in topline, muscular loin and tail of good carriage. Masculine head with pleasing skull, expressive eyes of good colour, correct ears and good dentition. He stands true in front on compact feet and when gaiting, he moved cleanly coming towards and was ok when viewed in profile. Excellent texture to coat. 

Rhodesian Ridgeback

1. Pritchard Jones’ Affrhoda Amaryllis. 7 mth old bitch. Feminine puppy who shows promise and was good hands on. Clean neck of good length, firm topline, pleasing rib development for age, muscular loin and tail correct for set and carriage. Attractive head with good eye and ear, strength to muzzle and scissor bite. I liked her angulation both ends and she stands on compact feet. Moving freely fore and aft and also open up well when viewed in profile. Good ridge. Well handled here to take Reserve BOB & Best Puppy and later going on to Puppy Group 4.

1. Pritchard Jones’ Mission Wild Wind of Luanda at Affrhoda (Imp Svk). 2 yr old dog who is well-muscled all through and solidly built. Strong neck, correct backline, well developed ribbing, good croup and tail of pleasing carriage. Masculine head with flat skull, expressive round eyes, ears set on just right, powerful muzzle and scissor bite. Standing on very good feet. Tending to crab on the down and back on the day. Clearly defined rib.

1. Dawson & Parsons’ Priorpark Problem Solved. 3 yr old dog. Well boned and totally masculine. Excellent neck to give balance, firm topline, moderate spring of rib, underline could be better, pleasing croup and tail good for both set and carriage. Balanced headpiece with masculine expression; good skull, correct stop, pleasing eye and ear and correct dentition. He stands nice and straight in front on excellent feet and is firm in the rear with good bend of stifle. Moving freely coming and going. BOB. 

2. Pritchard Jones’ Kalahari Sun of Luanda at Affrhoda (Imp Svk). 4 yr old bitch who has a super temperament. Pleasing outline with fairly long neck, firm topline, good depth to chest, muscular loin and tail of good carriage. Feminine head with flat skull, eyes of good colour, ears set on rather high, strength to muzzle and scissor bite. She has nice compact feet but overall action not quite that of winner. Well defined ridge. 

AVNSC Hound

1. Roberts’ Swansford Orlandodor. Shaded red Long-Haired Dachshund dog of 13 mths. Quality boy who was excellent to go over and soundly constructed all through. He has a lovely outline with slightly arched neck of good length, excellent through the topline, ribcage of good length, muscular loin and tail just right for set and carriage. First class head and expression with super eye and ear, slight arch to muzzle and scissor bite. Prominent sternum, good return of upper arm and standing well naturally in front. Moving freely coming and going and with a good length of stride when viewed in profile. Just wish he would have got his head up when gaiting. Reserve Best AVNSC Hound. 

2. Buxton’s Cloudside Xena of Mereblake. 12 mth old Wire-Haired Dachshund bitch. This girl pushed the winner all the way and she too, very much appealed hands on. She has an excellent neck, is correct in topline, ribbing is just as desired and she has a firm muscular loin but tail carried higher than I would have preferred. I loved her head and expression and she has the best of eyes and ears, slight arch to the muzzle and correct dentition. Soundly constructed both front and rear, standing well naturally and with correct keel. Nice and clean on the down and back and goes so well on the go around too. Well handled. 

3. Harrison-Stratford’s Southpoint Absolut at Highwick (Imp Prt)

1. Buxton’s Hazelglade Harriet. Wire-Haired Dachshund bitch of 2 yrs who has much to like and she was very well handled here. She presented a very good outline with muscular neck of good length, firm backline, excellent ribbing, short loin and tail pleased for both set and carriage. Very nice head and expression with good skull to muzzle proportions, almond-shaped eyes, ears set on high and correct dentition. Excellent keel and when gaiting, she has a good length of stride when viewed in profile and went pretty well coming and going.  

2. Maddocks’ Wyldetarn Genesis. 3 yr old Wire-Haired Dachshund bitch who also has many qualities. Neck of good length but not quite that of winner, firm through the topline, ribcage carried well back, muscular loin and tail of pleasing carriage. Balanced headpiece with feminine expression, good eye and ear and scissor bite. She stands well naturally on good feet and when gaiting she was excellent coming towards but couldn’t quite match the profile action of 1. Harsh texture to coat. 

OD/B (4,1)

1. Simmonds & Mott’s Ch/Am Ch Kamgaard Klementina (Imp USA). 6 yr old Norwegian Elkhound bitch who is full of quality and one I have done well for previously at Championship Show level. She presents a lovely compact outline with moderate length of neck, short back with firm topline, good depth to chest, excellent ribbing, muscular loin and curled tail set on high. Balanced wedge-shaped head, ears set on high, dark expressive eyes and good dentition. I liked her angles front and rear and she stands true in front on excellent feet. When gaiting, she is accurate on the down and back and also pleased on the go around. Correct colour and good texture to her double-coat. Best AVNSC Hound and my Group 2 winner at the end of a very hot day. 

2. Baker’s Silverbriar Surayya. 5 yr old tricolour Basenji bitch. This girl pleased in outline with well crested neck of good length, short back with firm topline, very good ribbing, short in the couplings and curled tail set on nice and high. Feminine headpiece with fine wrinkling, slightly hooded ears, expressive eyes and scissor bite. Standing straight but a touch wider in front and nice and firm in the rear. Excellent on the go around and carrying herself with style and very well handled here. 

3. Wilce-Quinton & Quinton’s Azravi’s Marked By The Sunrise at Kirjojax (Imp Nor)

Hound Group

1. Gorman & Latimer’s Shahfoladi Sphinx Riddle at Zharook (AI) JW. 4 yr old Afghan Hound dog who pulled out all the stops here and gave his all on what was a very hot day. He was very good hands on and presented a lovely outline with excellent neck to balance, firm through the topline, chest of good depth, pleasing rib, correct croup and tail good for set and carriage with desired ring at the end. Masculine head of good length with excellent eye and ear, slight stop and correct dentition. Quite something on the move, opening up well on the go around with excellent carriage. Very well handled. Delighted to hear that he was later Andrew Brace’s choice for Best in Show.

3. Bailey’s Chique to Chique A Story With A Tail for Longmynd. 14 mth old Basset Hound bitch. Quality girl carrying very good bone and substance. Feminine throughout she has a well arched neck, excellent ribbing, muscular loin and stern well set on and of good carriage. Super head and expression with pleasing proportions, lovely eye and ear and scissor bite. She is well built both front and rear, is correct in forechest and stands on such good feet. Moving well coming and going and excellent on the go around and using herself as she goes.

1. Webb’s Madelion Lady Dementer. 9 mth old Afghan Hound bitch. Feminine youngster who pleased in outline with nice length of neck, firm level back, pleasing rib development for age, short loin, hipbones prominent as desired, good croup and tail of correct carriage with ring at the end. Balanced headpiece with good length of skull, expressive eyes, ears set on low and scissor bite. She stands on correct feet and on the move, she is nice and firm when going away and also pleased on the go around.

3. Lloyd’s Penwincoed Pumpkin Pie. Fawn Whippet dog of 10 mths who was very well handled here. Neck of good length, pleasing rib, muscular loin and tail of correct carriage. Good length to head with flat skull, pleasing eye and ear and scissor bite. He stands so well in front and has correct feet and when gaiting, he was accurate on the down and back.

1. Kirk-Vickers & Hughes’ Istani Liza Minelli with Finkime. Two 15 mth old Afghan Hound littermates headed this class with this bitch taking the win. Nicely balanced in outline with neck of good length, level back, pleasing rib, correct croup and tail set on low and of good carriage. Attractive head with long skull, dark expressive eyes, ears set on low, slight stop and correct dentition. She stands nice and true in front on good sized feet and when gaiting, she went well on the go around with pleasing carriage and was very good coming towards. Well handled.

2. Kirk-Vickers & Mottershaw’s Istani Robert De Niro with Elagance. Masculine lad who has an excellent neck, firm topline, pleasing rib development, good croup and tail set on low and of good carriage and with desired ring at the end. Nicely proportioned head with expressive eyes, ears set on low and scissor bite. Not quite front assembly of his sister although he stands nice and straight and he could open up more on the go around to advantage.

1. Raczka’s Jamarqui Alchemy Argent ShCEx VW. 8 yr old Borzoi dog. Soundly constructed lad with muscular neck, pleasing topline, chest of good depth, broad loin and tail good for set and carriage. Masculine head of good length and lean as desired, expressive eyes, powerful jaws and good dentition. He stands nice and straight in front on correct feet and on the move, he was true coming and going and also pleased on the go around. Good coat.

2. Handley’s Alysando’s Rainbow Skies. Fawn Whippet bitch of 8 yrs. Feminine throughout with good length to head, flat skull, pleasing eye, small rose-shaped ears which are fine in texture and good dentition. She stands on correct feet but could use more fill in front. Moving pretty well on the go around with correct tail carriage.

Rose Webster Memorial Open Stakes (53,36)

1. Tobijanski’s Ch Janski Bugurovski VW. 8 yr old Cesky Terrier dog. One I have done well for previously at Championship Show level and today he ticked all the boxes once again. He is well-boned and a delight to go over. Excellent neck, characteristic topline, ribbing carried well back, firm muscular loin of good breadth and tail correct for set and carriage. Masculine head with good skull, excellent eye and ear, correct stop, strong muzzle and scissor bite. Pleasing front assembly with good breadth to chest and firm, muscular hindquarters. Typical propulsive action of the breed which was evident on the go around and he also went well on the down and back. Shown in first class condition.

2. Huyton’s Afterglow Hi Octane with Chebri JW Ir Jch. 2 yr old black Toy Poodle dog. Another good one, pleasing for overall type and presenting a very nice outline. Neck of good length with proud head carriage, short firm back, good depth to chest, short well-muscled loin and tail set on well. Masculine head with expressive eyes, leathers set on just right, foreface well chiselled, very good chin and correct dentition. Shoulders well laid, standing straight in front on excellent feet and firm hindquarters with good bend of stifle. When gaiting, he was accurate coming and going and opened up well when viewed in profile.
