Australian Shepherd

PD/B (3,2)

1. Brown’s Trijem Bad Moon Rising at Hattiehoula. 8 mth old blue merle/tan dog. Standing alone here but really did appeal and was very good hands on. He pleased for overall type and presented a balanced outline with slightly arched neck of moderate length, firm backline and ribbing developing just as you would hope for at this stage of his development. Nicely proportioned head with excellent eyes for shape and placement in the skull, ears set on high and showing some lift when alert, correct stop and scissor bite. He stands true in front on excellent feet and I liked his angles front and rear. On the move, he went very well on the go around and was nice and firm when going away. Well handled to take Best Puppy and pleased to see him at the end of the day where he was my choice for Best Puppy in Show.

1. Hutchcroft’s Norcis Algiz. 17 mth old blue merle/tan dog. This lad was another who was very well handled and he too has much to like. I liked his overall outline with clean neck of correct length to give balance, firm level back, brisket reaches the elbows, good length to ribcage and breadth to loins. Masculine head with good skull to muzzle proportions, ears showing lift, well defined stop and correct dentition. Shoulders well laid, straight forelegs with moderate bone, pleasing forechest and he stands on such good feet. When gaiting, he is excellent coming towards, pleased on the go around and pretty good going away. 

OD/B (5,3)

1. Brown’s Ch Archie Labakan Slovakia JW ShCEx OSW (Imp Skj). Two very different dogs competed here with the win going to this 3 yr old black. He was excellent to go over and presented in excellent coat and condition and shown to advantage. All male, he presents such a good outline with strong neck of moderate length, excellent through the topline, ribbing well sprung and brisket reaches the elbows, strength to loin and moderate slope to croup. Very nice head and expression with pleasing proportions, almond-shaped eyes of good colour, ears set on well and correct dentition. Soundly constructed both front and rear, standing true in front on compact feet and with a pleasing forechest. On the move, he was clean coming and going and also pleased on the go around. BOB. 

2. Hutchcroft’s Allmark One of these Days. Black tricolour dog of 6 yrs. Masculine throughout and with pleasing bone but a touch more length than the winner and therefore losing out on overall balance. Slightly arched neck of medium length, pretty good in topline, pleasing rib and muscular loin. Nicely proportioned head with slightly rounded skull, pleasing eye, ears set on well but a touch larger, good stop and scissor bite. He has good angulation both ends and stands on oval-shaped feet which are nice and compact. Moderate length of stride on the go around and goes well to and fro, although winner did have the edge.

1. Peart’s Malandex Xquisit’s Legacy for Talluarchy. Two very different bitches competed here with this 14 mth old taking the class. Balanced outline with neck of moderate length, level back, good length to ribcage, correct croup and tail set. Head of good proportions with pleasing skull, expressive eyes, ears of correct set and scissor bite. Shoulders well laid and good length to upper arm and she pleased in forechest too. Moving out well on the go around and scoring here coming towards. Good texture to coat. 

2. Ayrton’s Briarsfield Little Swan at Aoibh. Exuberant 12 mth old who was certainly enjoying her day out. She pleased for overall balance with slightly arched neck of correct length, firm topline, rib developing well, correct croup and very good tail carriage. Balanced headpiece but not quite skull of winner, good eye and ear and correct dentition. She stands true in front but is still to develop in forechest. Gaiting very well when viewed in profile but winner had the edge coming towards. Good quality coat.

1. Peart’s Malandex Xquisit’s Legacy for Talluarchy

OD/B (3,2)

1. Burgon’s Ch Corimist Caissa at Lyngem JW. 4 yr old bitch who appealed for type, was good hands on and presented a very nice outline. Moderate length of neck which is slightly arched, firm through the backline, good depth to brisket, ribbed well back, correct croup and tail pleased for length, set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with excellent skull, expressive eyes, ears of correct set, muzzle proportionate in length to that of skull and correct scissor bite. She stands true in front and I liked her angulation both ends. On the move, she opened up well on the go around and carries herself well and she is excellent when going away. Flat coat of correct texture. Very well handled to take BOB and going on to take the Group under Richard Morrison and ended the day as my choice for Reserve Best in Show.

Collie (Rough)

1. Walsh, Lusty & Davis’ Afterhero Fantasma. 8 mth tricolour bitch who very much appealed, was good to go over and handled to advantage. Super outline with well arched neck of correct length to give balance, firm topline with slight rise over the loins, pleasing rib development for age, correct croup and tail good for length, set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with correct proportions and planes, expressive eyes, ears correct when using them, clean through the cheeks and scissor bite. I liked her angles both front and rear and she stands on excellent feet. On the move, she went very well on the go around and when coming towards and she had the best rear action in the class. Good texture to coat. BOB & Best Puppy. 

2. McCarte’s Sweetmint’s Yasmin at Roughrigg (Imp Nor). Sable bitch of 11 mths who presented a nicely balanced outline with well arched neck, firm backline, good depth to chest, correct croup and tail was both set and carried as desired. Good skull to muzzle proportions, expressive almond-shaped eyes of good placement in the skull, pretty good ears and correctr dentition but not quite as clean in cheek as winner. Gaiting well on the go around with good carriage, a touch closer behind than 1 but with no suggestion of weakness, however she could be cleaner coming towards. Very good texture to coat and well presented. 

3. Boyle’s Virel Actis over Barrenclough (Imp Pol)

1. McCarte’s Roughrigg Rags’n’riches. 2 yr old sable dog who was a comfortable winner in this class for me and he was pleasing hands on. Balanced in outline with pretty good neck, correct topline with characteristic rise over the loin, well sprung ribbing, good croup and tail of pleasing carriage. Masculine head and expression with good skull to muzzle proportions, dark eyes which pleased for shape, size and placement, very good ears, clean cheeks, scissor bite and strong underjaw but perhaps a smidge more definition to stop than the ideal. He stands well naturally in front on correct feet and is well muscled all through. Moving out well on the go around. Good quality coat. 

2. Hardman’s Erjon Emblazed in Blue. Blue merle bitch of 3 yrs who pleased in outline with well arched neck of correct length to balance, excellent topline with slight rise over the loins, pleasing rib, good depth to brisket and tail correct for both set and carriage. Nicely proportioned head with feminine expression; parallel planes, slight stop, clean cheeks, very good eye and ear and correct dentition. Standing true in front on oval-shaped feet and pleasing angles front and rear. Moving out well when viewed in profile and ok when coming and going. Not coat of winner. 

3. Rose’s Beldones Clementine avec Coloratura

1. Williams’ Essanjay Heartbreaker. I felt this was a rather varied class and this 2 yr old blue merle bitch came out on top who for me was the best overall package. She has a very good neck which is well arched and of correct length to give balance, firm through the backline, good depth to chest, ribbing well sprung and tail pleased for length, set and carriage. Feminine head which is well proportioned, planes are parallel, almond-shaped eyes which are somewhat obliquely set, pleasing ears and scissor bite. Standing well naturally in front and she has very good feet. Moving well enough all through and well handled. Good texture to coat but colour could be better. 

2. Rose’s Uffspring Ultravox for Coloratura. 7 yr old tricolour bitch who wasn’t in full coat on the day. Feminine throughout, she pleased for outline with nicely arched neck, firm backline, good length to ribcage and tail correct for set and carriage. Pleasing head proportions, expressive almond-shaped eyes, pretty good ears, clean cheeks but a touch more stop than the ideal. Straight forelegs, correct oval-shaped feet and firm hindquarters with well let down hocks. Moving out nicely on the go around and ok on the down and back. Well handled.

1. Bell’s Surfstone Rhysent Edition. 14 mth old dog full of energy and making his handler work very hard on the day. He presented a well balanced outline with strong neck of good length, straight topline which slopes as desired, good depth to brisket, pleasing rib, correct croup and tail of good carriage. Masculine headpiece of good proportions, almond-shaped eyes of good colour, ears set on high and scissor bite. Pleasing angulation front and rear and he stands true in front on decent feet. Gaiting well when viewed in profile and nice and firm behind. Front action looked ok too but such was his exuberance it was difficult to tell.

1. Bell’s Surfstone Limited Edition. 14 mth old bitch who turned out to be littermate to the previous class winner and they are similar in many ways. Carrying good bone, this girl was good to go over and like her brother, she appealed in outline. Very good neck, firm backline, good depth to chest, muscular loin, gentle slope to croup and tail pleased for set and carriage. Head of good proportions and planes and with feminine expression; very good eye and ear, good through the cheeks and correct dentition. Pleasing front assembly, stands true naturally on pretty good feet and she is well developed in forechest too. Opens up well on the go around.

1. Kenmare’s Ch Windgunn’s Rio Grande. Two totally different bitches challenged here with the winner found in this 5 yr old. Balanced girl who pleased hands on. Muscular neck of good length, firm backline which slopes towards the rear, well developed rib, deep brisket, well-muscled loin and gentle slope to croup. Nicely proportioned head with nice dark eyes, ears set on high, strength to muzzle and correct dentition. Pleasing angles front and rear, standing well naturally in front on good feet and well muscled throughout. On the move, she pleased when viewed in profile and was pretty good coming and going. Good coat. BOB. 

2. O’Neill’s Kidaforce Corin of Dunningwell. 7 yr old who was presented in firm, hard condition and carrying good bone. Strong neck of good length to give balance, topline not quite that of winner, good depth to chest, pleasing rib, well-muscled loin and tail correct for length, set and carriage. Balanced head with very good ears, eyes of correct shape but not quite colour of those of winner, cheeks not overly developed and scissor bite. Very good front assembly both standing and on the move and she also pleased on the go around. 

Boxer

1. Huckerby & Dowell’s Norwilbeck Bellchime Syrah. 7 mth old red bitch who presented a very nice outline being square as desired. She has an excellent length of neck which is nicely arched, short back with slight slope to the rear, good length to ribcage, short muscular loin and pleasing tail set. Feminine head with good skull to muzzle proportions, expressive eyes of good colour, correct ears for size and set, distinct stop, cheeks not over-developed and breadth to underjaw. She stands true in front on excellent feet and also pleased in forechest for one so young. Moving cleanly coming towards and handled to advantage. BOB and Best Puppy and later went on to take Puppy Group 1. 

2. Thomson’s Bugarivo Sfida. Exuberant 9 mth old red bitch who is quite different to the winner. She has a good length of neck, firm backline which slopes slightly towards the croup and tail set on well, however she appears somewhat higher on the leg at this stage of her development. Pleasing head with feminine expression; correct skull to muzzle proportions, eyes of good colour and distinct stop. Straight forelegs and standing on very good feet and firm hindquarters. Gaiting pretty well on the go around, nice and firm going away but not quite front action of 1.

1. Thomson’s Marbelton I Dare You for Bugarivo. 2 yr old red dog. Elegantly arched neck of good length to balance, short firm back which slopes slightly towards the rear, brisket reaches the elbows, pleasing rib and correct tail set, however I would just have liked a touch more weight on him on the day. Balanced headpiece with masculine expression; dark eyes, ears good for size and set, correct stop, lean through the cheeks and slightly turned up nose. He stands on very good feet and has a decent forechest. Opens up well on the go around and also pleased on the down and back. Coat somewhat sparse in places.

1. Thomson’s Arkeney Desperado von Bugarivo (AI). Brindle dog of 3 yrs who is masculine throughout. Excellent neck, short back with characteristic slope from withers to croup, well sprung ribs, nice and short in the couplings and tail of correct set. Strength to head without being overdone; good skull to muzzle proportions, distinct stop, dark expressive eyes, wide open nostrils and good breadth to underjaw. Standing well naturally in front on cat-like feet and pleasing for forechest too. On the move, he pleased on the down and back. 

Rottweiler

1. Lyon’s Westlodge Dark Secret. The two pups who competed here really are like chalk and cheese. This 8 mth old dog took the win. All male, he is well off bone and was very well handled here. Excellent neck, firm topline, good depth to brisket, pleasing rib development for age, strength to loins and slight slope to croup. Pleasing head and expression with good breadth to skull, almond-shaped eyes of good colour, well defined stop, muzzle of correct length to balance and scissor bite. On the move, he opened up well on the go around but could be better coming towards. Best Puppy.

2. Craven’s Upmont Calamity Jane. 8 mth old bitch who is feminine throughout. Muscular neck, straight back, ribcage of good length, firm loin and correct croup. Pleasing head and expression with good skull to muzzle proportions, dark eyes of correct shape, ears set on high, well defined stop and good dentition. She stands well naturally in front but not quite angulation of winner and therefore 1 went better on the go around, however this girl was superior when coming at you.

1. Johnstone & Greig’s Olearia Westfalen One Heart. 13 mth old bitch who has an excellent temperament and was very well handled here. She presented a very good outline with muscular neck of correct length to give balance, firm level back, good depth to brisket and pleasing rib, short strong loin and slight slope to croup. Feminine head of correct proportions which is still to fully develop; expressive almond-shaped eyes, ears set on high, correct stop and good dentition. She is well constructed all through, stands nice and straight in front on compact feet and she also pleased in forechest. On the down and back she was accurate and when viewed in profile, she covered the ground with ease. Lovely rich tan. BOB.

1. Deas’ Bugarivo Vhalla. 19 mth old bitch. This girl has an excellent neck, is pretty good in topline, has the correct croup and tail pleased for set and carriage, however she has a touch more length to loin. Head of good proportions with pleasing breadth of skull, expressive eyes of good colour, ears set on high, well defined stop and scissor bite. Pleasing angulation front and rear, standing straight in front with good breadth to chest and she has very good feet. Goes well on the go around with excellent drive from the rear and she was ok coming towards.

1. Dobson & Moss’ Chantavory Coco Chanel. 4 yr old bitch who was a touch milky underneath following a litter but she pleased for overall type and was good hands on. Strong muscular neck, correct topline, well sprung ribbing, strength to loins and slight slope to croup. Attractive head and expression which is where she scored in this class; good breadth to skull, well defined stop, nice dark eyes of correct shape, muzzle of correct length to balance and scissor bite. Standing nice and straight in front on compact feet and when gaiting, she pleased on the down and back and opened up well when viewed in profile. Lovely rich tan. 

2. Deas’ Bugarivo Caoimhe. 5 yr old bitch. Strong, slightly arched neck, firm backline, good depth to chest, well sprung ribbing, muscular loin but a touch longer, correct croup and tail pleased for set and carriage. There is breadth of skull, a well defined stop and correct dentition but eyes are somewhat rounder, although of good colour, and therefore winner had the edge in expression. Standing on compact feet and pleasing angles both ends. Moves out well on the go around and was pleasing coming and going too. Rich tan.  

Siberian Husky

1. Johnson’s Lupacchiotto’s Street Cred by Lupinemoon. 13 mth old dog who very much appealed. Moderately built lad who was so good hands on and soundly constructed all through. Balanced in outline with arched neck of moderate length, firm level topline, brisket reaching the elbows, pleasing ribbing, muscular loin and tail good for set and carriage. Excellent head and expression with obliquely set almond-shaped eyes, well furred ears which are nice and thick and set on high, moderate length to muzzle and scissor bite. Standing true in front on very good feet and when gaiting, he was accurate coming and going and also pleased on the go around with very good carriage. Good quality coat. Very well handled. BOB and later my Working Group winner.

1. Johnson’s Atlanticbreeze Bailey by Lupinemoon JW (AI) (IKC). 4 yr old with a super temperament who turned out to be the sire of the BOB. This boy pleased for overall type and is moderately built. He has an excellent neck, is nice and firm through the topline, ribs are well sprung, chest of good depth and tail correct for set and carriage. Masculine head with correct skull, expressive almond-shaped eyes, ears set on high and well furred, correct stop and good dentition. Standing well naturally in front on excellent feet and well muscled throughout. When moving, he is very good coming at you and although moving pretty well on the go around, he wasn’t quite as good in rear as his son. 

AVNSC Working

1. Moulsdale’s Simberger Royal Velvet of Berglowe. 8 mth old Leonberger dog who was well handled here. Strong, slightly arched neck, excellent through the topline, good depth to chest, ribbed well back and tail correct for set and carriage but he needs to broaden all through for which he has plenty of time. Balanced headpiece with correct breadth to skull and muzzle, oval-shaped eyes of good colour, pendant ears of correct set, characteristic black mask and scissor bite. Gaiting well on the go around with good carriage. Good quality coat. Best Puppy AVNSC Working and later took Puppy Group 3.

OD/B (2,0)

1. Bell’s Cleon Canis Giganotos. Both pleased here, with this 3 yr old Leonberger dog taking the win. All male, he is well off for bone and substance and good to go over. Strong neck, excellent topline, chest reaches the elbows, ribbing well sprung, broad muscular loin, correct slope to croup and tail set on as it should be and ok for carriage. Very good head and expression with good skull to muzzle proportions, excellent eye and ear, moderate stop, black mask and correct dentition. Pleasing angles front and rear and standing on very good feet. Moving out well when viewed in profile and handled to advantage. Best AVNSC Working and later went on to take Group 3. 

2. Lowe’s Danixaris Daydreamer. 4 yr old stag red German Pinscher dog. This boy appealed for overall type and presented a well balanced outline. Well arched neck giving elegance, short back with slight slope towards the hindquarters, good depth to chest and short muscular loin. Pleasing head with expressive dark eyes, v-shaped ears set on high, parallel planes and correct dentition. I liked his angulation both ends and when gaiting, he pleased on the go around and is nice and firm when going away. Attentive to handler at all times. 

Working Group

1. Johnson’s Lupacchiotto’s Street Cred by Lupinemoon. Siberian Husky

2. Robinson’s Korifey Matchy Matchy JW. 2 yr old black/rust Dobermann bitch who is soundly constructed throughout and totally feminine. Pleasing outline with lean neck of good length, firm backline, good depth to chest, well sprung ribbing and tail good for both for set and carriage. Well proportioned head with eyes of good colour, clean cheeks and correct dentition. Pleasing angles both ends and stands true in front on good feet. Moving well all through and shown to advantage by her very capable handler.

4. Nevinson’s Ch Chayo Causin Chaos. 7 yr old Alaskan Malamute bitch of excellent type, carrying good bone and pleasing to go over. Balanced outline with strong neck, firm topline with slight slope towards the croup, good depth to brisket and waving plume. Attractive head with good breadth to skull, almond-shaped eyes which are obliquely set, ears set on wide apart and correct dentition. Pleasing angles both front and rear and she stands nice and straight in front on large compact feet. Gaiting freely but could have put a bit more effort into the proceedings.  

Working Puppy Group

Standing well naturally in front on good feet and moving freely when coming and going. Lovely rich tan.

4. Alcroft’s Quark of Windsor Kennel at Fowlerheight Naf. 7 mth old fawn Bullmastiff dog who has super bone and substance. He pleased in outline with muscular neck of moderate length, firm backline, rib developing well for age and tail good for set and carriage. Head to fully develop but masculine expression with good eye and ear. Soundly constructed both front and rear and standing on good feet. Moving freely all through.

2. Lyon’s Lourornamor Chicleteira Bicicleteira. Black/rust Dobermann bitch of 10 mths. Carrying good bone and with the elegance of the breed. Pleasing neck, well ribbed back, muscular loin and tail set and carried as desired. Feminine head with expressive eyes, good depth to muzzle and scissor bite. Standing on cat-like feet. On the move she couldn’t quite match the overall action of the winner. Excellent rich tan.

1. Whitfield-Roberts’ Swansford Opheliadora. 14 mth old black/tan Dachshund (Long-Haired) bitch. Quality girl who was a pleasure to go over. She appealed for overall type and presented a lovely outline with slightly arched neck of good length, firm through the topline which she holds on the move, ribcage of good length and tail correct for both set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with good skull to muzzle proportions, super eye and ear and correct dentition. Pleasing angles front and rear, well developed sternum and stands on good feet. Moving freely on the down and back.

1. Schfaild’s Ch Vickvally Miss Chicago Soul JW. 2 yr old brindle Boston Terrier bitch. Compact girl who appealed for type and was very good to go over and presented in firm, hard condition. Slightly arched neck, excellent backline, ribbing well sprung and extending well back, short muscular loin and tail set on low. Attractive head, full of femininity and square as required; flat skull, very good eye and ear and good breadth to jaws. Standing nice and straight in front on excellent feet and she has pleasing angles both ends. Moving well all through. 

2. Moore’s Ch Unstoppable Alpiu Slenis to Jaxtzu (Imp Ltu) JW ShCEx OSW. 2 yr old gold/white Shih Tzu dog who was beautifully presented. Balanced in outline with nicely arched neck, firm through the topline, good length to ribcage and heavily plumed tail set on high and of good carriage. Masculine headpiece with pleasing skull, super expressive eyes which are placed well apart in the skull, short muzzle of good width, wide open nostrils and excellent mouth. On the move, he went very well when viewed in profile and is accurate going away showing full pad. 

3. Hall’s Ch/Ir Ch Afilador Wheal Grace An Ch 22/23/24/25 CW22/23

BVIS Roskell’s Ch Ken Go Shun’You Kensha. From a very good veteran line-up, this red Japanese Shiba Inu dog of 8 yrs came out victorious. Shown in excellent coat and condition, he was so good to go over given his sound construction. Well balanced in outline with medium length of neck which is slightly arched, firm level back, short in the couplings and curled tail set on nice and high. Masculine head with dark expressive eyes which are obliquely set, small ears, definite stop, well developed cheeks and scissor bite. Standing true in front on tight cat-like feet and well muscled all through. Moving cleanly on the down and back and light on his feet as he goes.

RBVIS Johnson & Walker’s Ch/Swiss/Fr/Lux/Int Ch Tooralie Pie In The Sky. Pushing the winner all the way, this 7 yr old sable Shetland Sheepdog dog was another who appealed and was a delight hands on. All male but with no suggestion of coarseness and sound as they come. He presented a lovely outline withy well arched neck of correct length to balance, firm topline, excellent rib, croup sloping gradually to tail of correct set and carriage. Quality headpiece which is perfectly balanced and with correct planes, expressive almond-shaped eyes, excellent ears and clean through the cheeks. On the move, he was accurate fore and aft and also pleased on the go around. Super coat and condition. 

BPIS Brown’s Trijem Bad Moon Rising at Hattiehoula. Australian Shepherd

RBPIS Goldberg’s Mackhovie Astraea at Molesend. 8 mth old tan/white Beagle bitch. Totally feminine and appealing for type and balance. Slightly arched neck, firm topline, ribbing developing well for age and ribcage of good length, short loin, correct croup and stern set on high and of good carriage. Attractive head with pleasing expression; eyes of good colour, ears set on low and of good length and scissor bite. She carries pleasing bone, stands on tight feet and I liked her angles front and rear. Gaiting freely all through and very well handled here. 

BIS Entwistle’s Ch Dorenty Textututango. 2 yr old Chihuahua (Long Coat) bitch. Quality girl who was a delight hands on and I thought an excellent type. Slightly arched neck, firm through the topline, ribcage of good length and sickle tail which is well plumed and set on high. First class head and expression with well-rounded skull, dark round eyes of good size and placed well apart in the skull, large flaring ears, definite stop, lean cheeks, moderately short muzzle and correct dentition. She has good angles front and rear, stands nice and straight in front on correct feet and on the move she is accurate when coming and going and she also pleased on the go around and has excellent carriage.
