Smooth Collies

I would like to thank the committee for giving me the opportunity to judge Smooth Collies at their lovely show, it was so friendly and welcoming. I have never eaten so much cake! Thank you too to all the exhibitors who brought their wonderful Smooths along for me to judge and who took my decisions with great sportsmanship. So many happy dogs and lots of quality, I was delighted to see my BOB go BIS and my RBOB go RBIS.

Special Yearling D (3,1)

1. Denton’s Coldelee Take It To The Limit

Masculine s/w who presented an excellent balanced outline, true in proportions with strength and no trace of coarseness. His head fitted his stature, a lovely blunt wedge head of good length with level head planes and clean underjaw. Well set dark eyes gave good expression, ears were correctly placed, perfectly tipped and well used. Good reach of neck, excellent front, well ribbed with a level back, had freedom of stride, light on his feet with good rear drive BD, RBOB, RBIS.

2. Glover’s Blamorder Deal Ore No Deal

At the other end of the age range being just over 6 months, a confident, happy Tri boy, everything just right for his age, sound and well balanced, has the head shape with dark, obliquely set eyes. Good front assembly with chest developing and spring to ribs, nice neck length, long, well carried tail, moved soundly, strong black coat and rich tan BPIB.

Limit D (1,0)

1. Thomas & Lusty Blamorder Side Hustle With Mournebrake JW

Smart tri in lovely condition. Masculine head with alert expression, balanced with a correct flat skull and slight stop, well rounded blunt muzzle, correct planes, strong arched neck, well laid shoulders, depth to chest, correct proportions, rib and loin, firm in rear with strong hocks, sound moving but not as effortless as the BD today RBD.

Open D (3,1)

1. Wensley’s CH/INT/MULTI CH Constella Hazy Cosmic Jive JW.

Tri of striking colour being jet black with rich tan, very typical and balanced with a good length of head, flat skull, clean cheeks, dark eyes and well set ears. Enough bone, well laid shoulders, excellent rib and loin, muscular all through, sound moving with drive from rear, I would have liked him a little cleaner coming toward and a touch more masculine, good side gait and rear drive.

Veteran D (5,3)

1. Can GCh Am Gold GrCh Cardross Red Dirt Road To Blamorder IMP CAN VW

S/w and a dog which embraces strength with activity. His head is a little stronger overall for type but of good length, a lovely blunt wedge, flat skull with correct muzzle and stop and a strong, clean-cut underjaw, dark obliquely placed eyes and well-placed ears. Excellent construction, powerful neck, correct proportions with slight rise to loin, strong rear, there’s no doubting his working capability, purposeful mover with length of stride BVIB.

2. Beeney’s Ch Coneypark Golden Brown

A feminine shaded sable girl of lovely proportions with a balanced head, correctly placed stop and dark almond eyes giving an intelligent expression, well made in body with rise over loins, smooth moving but not the freedom of the male today, completely different to him in type but much appeal.

Special Yearling B (3,1)

1. Wensley’s BLAMORDER STARSTRUCK BY VERSATILIS

This rich s/w hits you right in the eye, so balanced with nothing exaggerated and all flowing lines. Head is one-piece, well-moulded and clean with such a sweet expression, correct parallel planes, strength to well-rounded foreface retaining femininity, good bone and feet, length of arched neck, correct in shoulder with depth of chest and plenty of substance, muscular rear with well bent stifles. Movement is sound and characteristic, with correct reach and drive, must have a bright future, BB, BOB, BIS.

2. Thomas’s Blamorder Butter Side Down at Mournebrake

Feminine Tri with a balanced head which still needs to fill, dark correctly placed eyes and moderately large ears, used well. Not quite the angles and chest of 1 but correct in proportions, shapely and well balanced with rise to loin and level back. Strong in rear with well-bent stifles and a long, well carried tail, parallel sound rear movement, a little untidy in front, has plenty of time.

Limit B (3,2)

1. Davies-Brown’s BLAMORDER I DREAMED A DREAM AT WYSTRY JW

Lovely conformation to this tri b who has rich tan and a dark black coat. Liked her correct, clean wedge head with flat skull and dark, well-placed eyes and well tipped ears. Enough bone for size with straight legs, length of arched neck and breed typical outline with a good length of tail. Steady and sound moving.

Open B (5,4)

1. Lusty’s Am GCH Sugarnspice There Ain’t No Getting Over Meep (Imp USA)

So much to like about this clear and well-marked BM, rich tan which slightly detracts on her head in profile view, head-on she has a lovely expression with everything balanced and combining to give sweetness, intelligence and alertness. She has a super neck, powerful with arch, excellent front, good chest, straight, well-boned legs and tight feet. Correct in body, ratios and topline, tail could be a bit longer but well carried, so sound, with a long stride and light on her feet, preferred the added femininity of the BB, RBB.
