Firstly, I wish to thank the Society for my invitation to judge, the exhibitors for their support and for accepting my decisions sportingly and finally my Stewards who did an amazing job in keeping the ring running smoothly.

Clumber Spaniel

Puppy (1,0)

1st Benge, Bona Fama Kaprys Rejenta (IMP POL)

Balanced 7 month old lemon/white bitch. Square muzzle, dark eyes and correct ear shape/style working together to ‘sell’ this girls beautiful head. Deep chest, pleasing angulation front and rear and straight well boned legs. Held her topline at all times, well developed thighs contributed to strong movement, with precise footwork for one so young.

BPIB Thrilled she was awarded Reserve Puppy in Show.

Special Yearling (2,0)

 1st Sainsbury, Elskerwoo Cloudy Skies JW

22 month bitch with kind eye, square muzzle and pleasing expression. Deep chest, strong bone to legs, muscular thighs. Worked well with her handler and was more fluent on the move than 2.

2nd Sainsbury, Elskerwoo Silver Lining

22 month bitch, similarities to her litter sister who had the edge this day. A happy girl with dark eye, square muzzle, deep chest, well sprung ribs, strong in the rear. Dropped topline slightly on the move today.

Post Graduate (4,1)

1st Benge, Wahnahnish Saint Gilles JW (IMP NLD)

2 year old dog. Strong and obviously male head. Ear set and sizing correct, Deep chest, well off for bone, Moved soundly and strongly, help topline in stack and on move and looks like he could do a days work. BOB

2nd Page, Flamris New Creation for Micklemess (IMP SWE)

2 year old bitch. Pretty bitch, I preferred her head to 1’s. looked slightly red eyed today which I put down to the long wait for the classes to start. Deep chest, good depth brisket, straight well boned legs, strong rear, another who looks like she could do a day’s work. She dropped topline slightly in movement in class but held it in the challenge. RBOB

After judging I realised why I found this class so difficult, similar comments can apply to all three littermates and I was nit picking between them, I am sure they change places regularly.

1st Taubman, Meonstroke Wild Thyme IR JCH

2 year l/w bitch. Melting expression, correct ear set, good length muzzle and correct fluting, liked body/height ratio, felt her shoulder placement had the edge on her littermates, straight legs, muscled thighs, held topline at all times, most precise footwork of the three. RBOB

2nd Turvey & Murray, Meonstroke Wild Cherry at Harvancourt

2 year l/w bitch. Kind expression, correct ear set, strong and muscular neck, straight front, firm thighs, good topline on stack, handled well.

3rd West, Meonstroke Woodpecker at Grosbreuil

1st Williams & Toublic, Cobhay Dashing Dandelion JW

2 year old l/w dog. One I have judged before and pleased to see him come on. Obviously male head, no coarseness at all, well chiselled. Low ear set, dark eye. Liked shoulder angulation, Strong on the move where he held his topline, had a small slip on a shiny floor but recovered well and pulled out all the stops to win today.

2nd Hydon, Loxbourne Hustle and Bustle IR JCH

3 year l/w bitch. Such a pretty girl with dark eye, fluting and correct ear set. Liked her angulation, straight front, well sprung ribs, kept topline in stack and on move, I felt she moved slightly close behind today. Well handled.

1st Judge, Sovaroma Dambuster at Opalreef

3 ½ year dog. Handsome expression, good ear length, liked muzzle shape. Rich golden liver in colour, feathered where required. Strong neck, kept level topline when stacked and on move. Would prefer more rear angulation. Initial movement a bit stilted but settled into his stride on his last move around the ring. BOB
