I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for their kind invitation to judge at this show. My sincere thanks also go to my steward, Mrs Julie Howells, for her efficient assistance and for keeping everything running smoothly throughout the day. Finally, I would like to thank all the exhibitors for their entries and for giving me the pleasure of judging such a high standard of exhibits.

Irish Wolfhound

Open – Dog or Bitch (1)

1st Pask – Florence Della Bassa Pavese To Baronglen JW

Brindle, 2 years old. An impressive exhibit from the moment she entered the ring. She possesses an excellent head, good pigmentation, and a dark, clear eye. Strong through the neck with outstanding shoulder placement, she has a deep, well-developed chest, good width of loin, and powerful hindquarters. She carries plenty of bone and has excellent feet. Presented in superb condition, she moved soundly and was handled well, although a larger ring would have allowed her movement to be seen to even better advantage. A worthy winner of Best of Breed.

Gordon Setter

Graduate – Dog or Bitch (1)

1st Crowsley – Bonnienicht’s Aurora Blaze

Almost 3 years old and well constructed, with good head proportions, attractive eyes, and a pleasing mouth. Displays good shoulders, body, and topline, along with well-developed stifles and hocks. Presented in a nice coat with rich tan markings. Would benefit from greater confidence when being handled, but moved well around the ring. Awarded Best of Breed.

Chesapeake Bay Retriever

Graduate – Dog or Bitch (1)

1st Morris – Penrose Water Pistol

Brown, Almost 14 months old, with a broad feminine head and moderate stop. Good mouth and well-placed shoulders. Strong body with a correct topline and medium length, showing a good tuck-up. Well-muscled hindquarters. Coarse double coat. Well presented and moved soundly. Awarded Best of Breed.

Open – Dog or Bitch (1)

1st Morris – Longmeadow Barnegat Bay’s Surfer At Penrose (IMP USA)

Deadgrass, 3 years old, with a head of good proportions and balance. Correct eye colour and a good mouth. Strong neck and correct width of chest. Strong, straight bone and webbed feet. Topline shows a gradual rise from just behind the withers to the croup. Strong, well-muscled hindquarters. Sound, free movement. Coat in good order, though not at its best today. I would like to thank the exhibitor for bringing the dog into the ring, allowing me to assess two dogs present. Reserve Best of Breed.

Labrador Retriever

Puppy – Dog or Bitch (3) Abs: 2

1st Miles – Llanstinan Wine Not

Black, 8 months old. A delightful youngster of excellent type. She has a sweet, feminine head, a super coat, and well-developed hindquarters with a good tail. Her lovely outline is most appealing, and she moved soundly and confidently for her age. A promising puppy with a bright future ahead. Best Puppy in Breed.

Junior – Dog or Bitch (1)

1st Evans – Eastdew Sky Full Of Stars Over Eminala

Yellow, just 12 months old. A pleasing young bitch with a sweet, feminine head and expression. She presents a good overall appearance and has an appealing temperament. Her hard coat is of good quality, and she maintains a level topline. Sound coming and going, she moved well and was shown in excellent condition. A worthy winner of Reserve Best of Breed.

Graduate – Dog or Bitch (2)

1st Evans & Mckee – Eastdew Rewrite The Stars With Eminala

Yellow, just 12 months old. A very well-structured young dog with a quality, expressive head and nice dark eyes. He presents a good outline with excellent depth of chest, a good reach of neck, and well-laid shoulders. His hindquarters are well angulated, contributing to a balanced overall construction. Sound coming and going, he moved well throughout. Litter brother to the previous class winner, who just pipped him for Best of Breed.

2nd Statts – Quinte Honeysuckle

Yellow, 6 years old. Another of nice type, short-coupled and sound on the move, going well around the ring. He did not have the same balanced outline as the class winner but was nevertheless presented in good condition and shown well.

Limit – Dog or Bitch (2)

1st Miles-Bevan – Llanstinan Lisette

Chocolate, 8 years old. A quality, mature bitch and a free-moving, confident showgirl. Well-constructed and clearly not looking her age, she can still hold her own with the best. A true credit to the breed, and a pleasure to judge. Presented in lovely condition.

2nd Jones – Serengoch’s Knockin Boots

Chocolate, 3 years old. A pleasing bitch with a nice head and expression and a good overall appearance. She has well-sprung ribs and is presented in good condition. Not quite as positive in movement as the class winner on the day, but still a nice exhibit.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling

Graduate – Dog or Bitch (2)

1st Hipkiss – Deltandamba Domino Dancing

Red & White, 13 months old, with a lovely feminine headpiece. This bitch moved with a very free-flowing, true action. I preferred the tail carriage of the winner. She handles and shows well at all times. Awarded Reserve Best of Breed.

2nd Johnson – Tarnlaikers Ms Dynamite

Red & White, 2¼ years old, with a pleasing feminine head and expression and a nice general appearance. Correct ribbing and chest, with a short back. A little proud of her tail today. Moved soundly and was presented in good condition.

1st Hipkiss – Deltandamba It’s Asin

Orange & White, 13 months old, with a typical headpiece and a most pleasing masculine expression. Very sound on handling, with good proportions throughout and balanced construction. His true, active movement was a pleasure to see. Presented in super condition. Awarded Best of Breed.

1st Johnson – Tarnlaikers Red Hefin

Red & White, 8 years old, a pleasing mature dog. Well-constructed with a nice head and dark eyes. Good outline and depth of chest, with correct ribbing. Still moving soundly and a credit to the breed. Presented in good condition.

Irish Water Spaniel

1st Stirk – CH Nyllaup Akoya Pearl For Grakar JW

Liver Puce, 2-year-old bitch of excellent quality. A smart, typy exhibit with a head of good size, featuring almond-shaped eyes and a long, strong muzzle. Strong, moderately long neck flowing into well-placed shoulders. Long oval ears carried close to the cheeks. She moved soundly with great style and presence. Presented in immaculate condition. She may have stood alone in the breed, but she truly oozes type. Awarded Best of Breed.

1st Popp & Myers – Optimus Jameson Of Penychen

Fawn with Black Mask, 21 months old. A top-quality exhibit with a head of ideal size and proportions. His expression and eye are excellent, contributing to a pleasing overall appearance. He has great substance and bone, together with excellent feet. Moved very soundly, showing balance and quality throughout. Handled and presented to perfection, he was shown in superb condition. A worthy winner of Best of Breed.

Dobermann

Puppy – Dog or Bitch (2)

1st Piper, Quigley & Day – Shalissas Vivian Westwood At Swnydwr NAF

Black with Rust Red, 7½ months old. A well-constructed youngster with well-placed shoulders, good hind angulation, and straight front legs standing on good feet. Correctly marked, she has a very pleasing feminine head, a correct scissor bite, and a dark eye. Moved extremely well for one so young, showing great promise for the future. Reserve Best of Breed and Best Puppy in Breed.

2nd Billington – Shalissa’s Louis Vuitton Avec Aquepins

Black with Rust Red, 7½ months old. A promising youngster with a masculine head of good proportions, dark eyes, and a correct scissor bite. He presents a square outline with a good topline, pleasing shoulder placement, and sound hind angulation. Moved soundly around the ring. A quality puppy, and I am sure these littermates will change places many times as they continue to mature and develop.

1st Reid – Dobshangrila Xavi (IKC)

Black with Rust Red, 3 years old. A very striking, masculine dog of excellent type. He has a correct scissor bite, lovely dark pigmentation, and a powerful, square body. His well-sprung, well-developed hindquarters complement a strong, masculine head, with very dark eyes and well-set ears that give a pleasing, alert expression. He moved well, was handled expertly, and was presented in superb condition. A quality exhibit and a worthy winner of Best of Breed.

Puppy – Dog or Bitch (1)

1st Evans & Lloyd-Jones – Kinnegans Sweet Home At Blodaugoch (IKC)

Fawn, 11 months old. Her head carriage and front immediately caught my eye the moment she entered the ring. She has a gentle expression with dark, soft eyes, a flowing neck and shoulders, a deep chest, and a straight topline. Her quarters are strong and well-muscled, yet she remains completely feminine. She moved soundly and was presented in excellent condition throughout. I believe she has a wonderful future ahead of her. Delighted to award her Best of Breed and Puppy in Breed Best. She went on to achieve Working Group 3 and subsequently Working Group 1, and I was thrilled to see her continue her success by winning Best Puppy in Show

Newfoundland

Graduate – Dog or Bitch (3) Abs: 2

1st Plant – Green Pearl Versailles (IMP FRA)

Black, 17 months old. A young male with a pleasing masculine head and ideal size and construction. He has a coat of correct texture, well-boned legs, and remains comfortably within the breed's size requirements. His head pattern is correct, complemented by well-set ears and an intelligent expression. He moved soundly around the ring and was presented in good condition. He would benefit from gaining a little more confidence when being examined by the judge, but he shows many positive qualities and has much to admire.

1st Webb – Green Pearl Uniquely Barracechi JW (IMP FRA)

Black, 3 years old. A very nice example of the breed with excellent type. She has a deep barrel chest providing plenty of heart room, a broad yet feminine head, a short square muzzle, correct dentition, and dark eyes. She possesses plenty of bone and substance while maintaining femininity. She moved very well both coming and going and was presented in immaculate condition. A quality exhibit, and I was delighted to award her Best of Breed. She went on to achieve Working Group 4, a well-deserved result.

2nd Richards – Twillin Gate Voulez Vous Sheridel (IMP BEL) NAF

Black, 4 years old. A well-balanced exhibit with a pleasing head and correct mouth. She presents a good overall profile, with a correct coat, lovely tight feet, and a deep barrel chest. Her head is balanced and feminine, with many qualities to admire. While she was not quite as positive in movement as the winner on the day, she nevertheless showed sound breed type and was presented in good condition throughout. Pleased to award her Reserve Best of Breed.

Rottweiler

Open – Dog or Bitch (1)

1st Hopgood – CH/UKR CH CH/MOD Grizzly Vom Cherniy Kumir Saintlythans (IMP DEU)

Black & Tan, 8 years old. Alone in the class but a worthy winner. A dog with a pleasing outline, who remains well put together for his age. He has good bone, a pleasing masculine head, a correct scissor bite, and dark eyes. Well angulated both fore and aft, he possesses a good body with ample chest. He moved soundly and was presented in good condition. A deserving winner of Best of Breed.

1st Williams – Tinland Pink Sapphire

Tricolour, 8 years old, a very nice compact bitch with a good head, eye, and dentition. Very good bone, with good angulation both front and rear, and a good tailset. Moved very well and displayed an excellent temperament. Presented in super condition. Awarded Best Veteran Working Breeds, and I was delighted to see her go on to win Reserve Best Veteran in Show.

2nd John – Arcticskies Seeking Magic

Black & White, 9 years old, with a nice feminine head and good use of her ears. Nice length of body with balanced proportions throughout. Correct tail carriage. Unfortunately, she did not move to her usual standard today. Presented in good condition.
