Judges Critiqe, British Dalmatian Club

Judge; Mr. Stephen Harrison- Stratford.

I thank the BDC Committee for allowing me to judge the dogs at their first show in 2026.  I also thank my two very capable ring stewards. Dogs were shown generally in good condition all with good heads and teeth. Body proportions were as varied as expected although my winners were presented well. Disappointingly, I found rather a lot of relatively high tail sets which needs to be addressed through breeding. My winner’s tails were carried correctly.

Minor Puppy (6,1)

Jemblewood Northern Stork- A nice young dog who enjoyed his day out. He moved with the enthusiasm deserved for his age along with his weight. His markings were plenty and evenly spotted. His forechest was very good and he had nice balanced angulation front and back. He had good brisket height. His ear placement was correct with a lovely dark eye and held a good topline. His rear was also good with a well-defined stifle and correct tail set. He moved with the enthusiasm his age allowed. Best Puppy Dog

Winflash Fifth Avenue over Sassafras- Another dog with good overall balance who also enjoyed his time out. He was slightly less precise with rear angulation compared with the winner today but one to look out for.

Puppy (12,1)

A Spottified Young Forseti for Perdita’s- A lovely puppy dog with a nice top line, down to really tight feet. A nice tail set which he carried well. He had a lovely head and neck with balanced angulation front to back. He moved with purpose and drive and I look forward to seeing him progress.

Carodal Welcome Way Via Waltzaway- This dog had a lovely chest with and a dark eye, tapered neck into relatively good front angulation. His rear end wasn’t quite so good as winner with a relatively high tail set today. Another one to watch.

Junior (7,1)

Offordale Belvedere- This lovely dog was presented in top condition. His marking was very even throughout. A nice head carried with attention with good ear set and dark eye. His tapered neck let down to a nice chest and good front with good brisket height. Lovely strong ribbing which had good width and a top line going into a well set on tail with a lovely rear angulation. A good tuck up with nice tight cat feet. His tail was correct height and held well and when he moved it was with drive and purpose. Reserve Best Dog

Mapplewell Rolex with Koroyza- Another well made dog with a lovely head and a tapered neck down to a good shoulder with straight front legs and tight cat feet. He had good front and rear angulation and moved out well but although he didn’t match up to 1 today this may change.

Yearling (6,0)

Tamilanda Vintage Gold JW- A lovely dog with a good head. Nice ear set carried well with a pigmented eye colour. His front assembly was relatively good with nice front angulation and a correct depth of brisket. His ribs were set back and he moved with purpose. He carried his rear angulation along with a nice stifle. His tail set was also very good and he carried it well.

Kelevra Beam Me Up Biscotti– A nice sized dog with a lovely head and expression. Deep pigmented eye colour and tapered neck. Well made front with a deep chest. Nice front angulation with tight feet. Good tuck up. His rear end was good with a nice second thigh.

Novice (5,1)

Dalens Jewel In The Crown- A nice placed ear set with dark eye. Good neck and front angulation down to tight feet. Nice shoulders onto topline, slight curve over croup with good tail set. His rear angulation was ok.

Indysdream Summersknight- A slightly plain faced dog with nice ears and eye colour. Tapered neck into shoulders and nicely angulated front. Tail set was relatively good and his movement was ok.

Post Graduate (14,2)

Cubalibre Sirius Celeste- Another good dog with a lovely tuck-up and nice rear angulation. Lovely tail set carried with slight curve. He had a nice dark eye, good neck and front angulation down to tight feet. He was very alive today.

Shydally Star Gazer- Slightly larger dog with a shorter tail. He had a slightly less pronounced rear angulation.

Limit (9,2)

Jaxsondal Crème De La Crème at Koroyza- A lovely dog with a lightly marked head. Good well distributed marking to the body. A very good well distributed front assembly with nice tight cat feet and his rear angulation didn’t disappoint. A good tail set with well carried tail. Good tuck up. He moved out well and pushed hard for top honours.

Hafwenna King Of The North- A lightly marked head with straight legs including stifle. A nice tuck up and top line.

Open (12,4)

Ch Dotlun Apache Running Bear JW- A lively and lovely dog with all-round attraction. A well marked dog with even spots throughout. A good head with a relatively light eye, lovely well marked ears, tapered neck, lovely chest with correct brisket height. Lovely stifle with second thigh, correct top line with slightly curved croup and correct tail set which was carried correctly with a slight curve. It had a defined tuck up. He had well angulated front and rear quarters with really good tight cat feet. Just right spring of rib. When he moved out he paid attention to the handler.
