Firstly, I would like to thank all the exhibitors for accepting me as a replacement judge for the Golden Retrievers. I truly appreciate your understanding and support and really enjoyed judging such a lovely entry.

Golden Retriever

Puppy (5,2ab)

1st McCammick’s Saffdales Countess Cora. A 6-month-old female with a promising future ahead. Already showing a nice outline with good balance for her age. Her head is developing well, with kind expression and correctly set ears. She possesses a particularly good front, with well-laid shoulders and a good foreleg. She moved with a free and confident stride, covering the ground well. What a lovely puppy she is, happy to award her BPIB and pleased to watch her go BPIS.

2nd Garbitt’s Genvamor Penny To My Name. 1-year-old female with a lovely, feminine head that gives a soft expression. She has a good reach of neck, which flows smoothly into well-laid shoulders, and a good forechest, giving her a pleasing front. She moved out well, holding her topline. Overall, she presents a very nice picture, though I just preferred the overall balance of 1.

Junior (4,2ab)

1st Garbitt’s Genvamor Penny To My Name – repeat from Puppy.

2nd Hewitson’s Seruilia Society Girl. 17-month-old female with a strong head and pleasing dark brown eye. She has a strong neck which flows into a level topline. She presents a slightly heavier build than 1 but remains balanced throughout. On the move she was sound, holding her topline, movement not as settled today.

Special Yearling (7,1ab)

1st Clunie’s Warrentor Abeline JW. 22-month-old female presenting a pleasing, balanced outline, standing over good ground and holding a firm, level topline. Pretty, feminine head with a kind expression, set on a clean neck of good length, neatly set into well placed shoulders. She was presented in good condition and, on the move, covered the ground with an easy stride, showing good drive from behind.

2nd Proter’s Shearstone Hast La Vista JW. 20-month-old female with a feminine head, lovely dark eye and good pigment, giving a pleasing expression. Clean through the neck and well set into the shoulders, she stands balanced and holds a level topline. When moving, she was sound and true, maintaining her outline and topline. Just preferred the overall size of 1 on the day.

Graduate (6,2ab)

1st Fenn’s Fulvia Just Magic At Jandeburn. 2-year-old male with a masculine, correctly proportioned head, kind eye of good colour and pleasing expression. Shows a good length of neck, clean through the throat, flowing into well laid shoulders and sound front with good forechest. He has depth of body with ribs well sprung and maintaining a firm topline both standing and on the move. He stood on neat, tight feet. Moved out freely, covering the ground with purpose, showing good drive from behind and remaining sound and true.

2nd Garbitt’s Toscanini Santandore At Genvamor. 3-year-old female, smaller in frame than 1st but presenting a neat, balanced outline. Feminine through the head with a pleasing expression, and a clean neck of good length flowing into well placed shoulders. Body of good depth and holding her topline both standing and on the move. She moved out soundly. Just preferred the overall shape of 1 on the day.

Post Graduate (5,3ab)

1st Hewitson’s Seruilia Society Girl – repeat from Junior.

2nd Thomas’s Santandore Honesty. 6-year-old female with a kind, dark eye of good shape and pigment, giving a pleasing expression. Feminine through the head. Good reach of neck flowing into her shoulders, with depth of chest and well sprung ribs. On the move she was sound, though I just preferred the movement of 1 on the day.

Limit (1,1ab)

1st Main’s Putjade Perran By Gwyngala JW. 2-year-old dog who caught my eye as he entered the ring, presenting a very smart, balanced outline with good symmetry throughout. Masculine head of good proportion with a kind expression, correct eye and pigment, and a strong neck of good length flowing cleanly into well laid shoulders. He has a sound front with good forechest and, finishing with neat, tight feet. Body of good depth, with ribs well sprung and holding a level topline both standing and on the move. He moved out with purpose, moving with an easy stride and driving well from behind. He did not put a foot wrong today, and I was pleased to award him BOB.

Open Dog (3,1ab)

1st Coad’s Tinklersroc Bon Bon. 4-year-old male presenting a balanced outline with good substance without being overdone. Masculine, well chiselled head with a kind expression, correct dark eye and good pigment, completing and overall pleasing look. Strong neck of good length flowing cleanly into well placed shoulders. Body of good depth with well sprung ribs and holding a level topline both standing and on the move. He moved out freely with good reach and drive, covering the ring with ease and purpose.

2nd Lewis’s Fairwinds In Space Man JW. 3-year-old male with a pleasing head and kind expression, dark eye and well set ears. Strong neck flowing into well placed shoulders and a tidy front. Holds a level topline, with good depth of body, and covered the ground well with good reach. Just preferred the overall shape of 1 on the day.

Open Bitch (10,3ab)

1st Smyth’s Kadaka Krumpet JW. 2-year-old female with a lovely, feminine head, dark eye and good pigment, giving a kind expression. Clean reach of neck into well placed shoulders and ample forechest. Balanced in outline with a firm, level topline, and she moved out freely and soundly. Pushed hard in the challenge; pleased to award her RBOB and BOS.

2nd Clunie’s Warrentor Nohkalikai JW. 3-year-old female with a beautiful feminine head, dark eye and lovely expression. Balanced and symmetrical in outline with good reach of neck set into well placed shoulders, holding a level topline. Moved out soundly and with purpose; on this occasion, the overall type of 1 just had the edge.

Veteran (3,1ab)

1st Main’s Denmarella Mr Bright Skies Over Gwyngala. 7-year-old dog of substance, not showing his age. Masculine head with kind expression, good eye and pigment; clean neck set into well laid shoulders, holding a level topline and balanced outline. Moved out soundly, though a little head strong on the day.

2nd Fenn’s Chalksville Highlander At Jandeburn. 7-year-old male with a masculine head, kind eye and pleasing expression. Clean reach of neck into well placed shoulders and a level topline. Another not showing his age, he moved out soundly; just preferred the overall shape of 1.
