WEST MIDLANDS TERRIER – 14/02/2026

My thanks to WMTS for the invite to judge today. An excellent atmosphere as always at this show, one of the pinnacles in the terrier group. I had the great honour today of judging Norfolks and Skyes. My thanks to the exhibitors for their entries and for taking decisions relatively well. Very sad not to get any Australian terrier entries, when it was a supported entry, such a shame the breed is numerically on a downward trend and the impact that will have for the breed in the future.

Norfolk Terriers

P (4 3) 1 Dragon’s Jaeva Poker Face. 11 month old Black and Tan bitch. She has the most beautiful expression and head. She has a strong neck set into well placed shoulders. Her brisket is deep, and her loin short. She has a great tail carriage and placement. Lovely little mover in profile, just needs to strengthen a tad on the away. But a beautiful puppy that I was happy to award BPIB.

J (3 1 ) 1 Gee’s Watercroft Sticky Bud. 8 month old Red Dog. Beautiful head, lovely muzzle and expression. Well placed ears, carried beautifully. He has a beautiful depth of forechest, well laid shoulders and excellent front angulation all through. He has exquisite depth of brisket, and forechest. Short in loin. Beautiful carriage in profile, showing an excellent tailset and carriage. He gets a little excited on the move, which can throw his overall picture. But he is a lovely boy, who when settles is a picture. 2 Tate & Wren’s Jaeva Finger On The Button. 1yr old bitch. She still needs some maturity and coat, but she has a most pleasant expression. I would just like a little more fill round the muzzle. Good spring of rib, short in loin. Her tail is carried well and set well. She is paler in colour than the winner, but coat growth will help that I’m sure. She is a fabulous little mover and can cover the ground with ease.

L (4 1) 1 Gee’s Watercroft Stitch in Time. She has the most beautiful of heads, expression and ear set. Feminine yet fit for function. She has a beautiful coat and colour. Most beautiful angulation in the front, and a deep forechest. Her brisket is well sprung and her loin is short. She is shown in beautiful coat. She can move freely, and on the stack she is a picture also. Her tail is carried perfectly on the stack and on the move. Today I could not deny this tidy bitch a Best of Breed. She will have a very bright future I’m sure. 2 Tate & Wren’s Jaeva On The Run. She has less coat on her than the winner, but conformationally she is a picture. Her head is feminine yet beautifully constructed. She has well placed ears of good shape. Her neck is moderate and fits into well laid shoulders. Her forechest and brisket are exceptional. She is short in loin. Just a little straighter behind than winner. Tail is set and carried well. On the move she had a tendency to crab a little, but she quickly got over that. 3 Davis’ Watercroft Cosmic Dust.

O (2 1) 1 Gee’s Watercroft Time After Time. A bigger and bolder male. He has a lovely head, I would have liked a little more furnishing on the muzzle today to give that complete picture. His balance of foreface and backskull are balanced. He has a good neck into well laid shoulders. A good rib, length of loin. He has good quarters fore and aft. He moves beautifully. Reserve Best of Breed.

Skye Terrier

P (2 1) Heath’s Skyeshire Princess Ann. Cream bitch. Beautiful feminine head, length of muzzle is good, back skull. Beautifully pricked and carried ears. She has a great length of neck. Well laid shoulders. She has a great forechest, length of rib, short in loin. Great topline on the move. Carries well, her tail is beautifully carried. She has the most beautiful of colour. A real show girl!. BPIB.

O (1 0) 1 Sanderson’s Ch Esgia Highland Laddie VW. 8yr Dark Grey. Lovely head, beautiful balance of foreface to backskull. Gorgeous expression. He has the most level of toplines on the move. Moves well. Best of Breed.
