I would like to thank the committee for their kind invitation to judge all 3 sizes of poodle at their premier open show. The weather on the day was extremely challenging and I congratulate the society for their hard work to still make it an enjoyable day for everybody.  

I was pleased with my entry and thank those who attended and accepted my placings graciously, it was lovely to have such quality dogs to go over.

Poodle (Miniature)

Junior 1/1

1st Volgarus Morning Mojo, Coppens, Ms M E 13-month-old black bitch. Pleasing head with dark eyes, nose and pigment. Well angulated rear, straight front legs with tight oval feet. Ribs extend to elbows and reach well back. Well set high tail. Coat of good colour and texture. Moves true on the out and back and carries her head and tail well with a level topline on the go around. RBOB

Post Graduate 2/4

1st Volgarus Cinnamon Lady, Coppens, Ms M E 2 ½ year old brown bitch with good length of foreface with strength, almond shaped eyes and correctly low set ears. Skull not broad with a slight peak. Straight front legs sitting on small, tight, oval feet with strong pasterns. Well sprung ribs, short back, a little long in loin but muscular. Tail well set on. Top size. Moved with drive.

2nd Karocolin Anastasia, Blanchard & Perry, Mrs C & Mrs S 2-year-old blue bitch, a little unsure of herself today when being assessed in tough conditions. Lovely almond shaped eyes, foreface with some chiselling under the eyes. Front legs set straight from the shoulders. Deep chest with well sprung ribs, short loins. Could have a higher tail set. Moved soundly. Young handler presented and handled exceptionally well.

1st Volgarus Filtered Fantasy, Chan, Mrs E 18-month-old black bitch, well balanced and very well presented. Lovely to go over, well-muscled with good proportions. Dark eyes with keen expression. Ears long and low set close to the face. Good length of neck fitting into well laid-back shoulders. Straight front legs with strong pasterns sat on small, tight feet. Strong, short back with muscular loin. Well-developed second things. High set tail. Moved beautifully, driving from the rear carrying herself proudly. BOB

Puppy 2/2

1st Larune Gift Wrapped for Vicmar (IKC), Harris & Pine-Haynes, Mrs S & Mrs S 10-month-old black bitch produces a lovely outline, well balanced and will hopefully grow on a little. Head is long and fine with a strong foreface. Dark eyes and dark pigment. Good length of neck without throatiness and flowing into neat shoulders. Deep moderately wide chest with well sprung ribs. Short back and muscular loin. Second thighs well developed with well bent stifles. Moved nicely with proud carriage. BP

2nd Sascanach Emily Bronte, Beljon, Miss C 9-month-old cream bitch, a little long in body and needs to fill out with muscle but good straight front legs and well bent stifles with well let down hocks. Lovely dark eyes and good length of foreface but could have a little more chin to give better strength. Full of poodle exuberance and moved with drive from the rear.

1st Sascanach Emily Bronte, Beljon, Miss C

1st Eshwarah Sea The Stars, Fisher, Miss A 4 ½ year old brown male, nice balance and outline, well presented. Good length of foreface with strength, could be finer with more chiselling and less broad in back skull. Dark amber eyes, almond shaped with correct liver pigmentation of the eye rims, lips and nose. Nice to go over, could have more lay back of shoulder but has well sprung round ribbing and a short back with a muscular loin. Well bent stifles and well let down hocks with well-developed second thighs. Tail well set on high but could be carried better when moving. Moved soundly out and back with proud carriage on the go around. RBOB

1st Townedale Ash JW Fisher, Miss A 2 ½ year old black male makes a lovely silhouette when stood with nice balance and outline. Head long, could be a touch finer in backs skull but good length of foreface with chiselling below the eyes. Could have a little more chin to give more strength but he has beautiful dark, almond shaped eyes, black nose and toenails. Good length of neck flowing into well laid-back shoulders. Straight front legs stood on small oval, well-padded feet with strong pasterns. Deep chest with well sprung ribs, short back with a dip and a muscular loin. Well-developed second thighs, good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Moved true on the out and back and displayed elegance on the go around. Well-presented coat of harsh texture and solid colour. BOB

2nd Jetty’s Majestic Cold As Ice (Imp Nld) Beljon, Miss C 8 ½ year old white male, had great presence, covering the ground with ease, light and elegant, driving from the rear. Well presented with good coat texture. Lovely dark, almond shaped eyes with black eye rims and dark nose. Long and fine in foreface but could have more chiselling and be finer in back skull. Chest was deep, ribs were well sprung, and loins were well muscled. Could be a touch shorter. Tail high set.

Puppy 2/2

1st Vicmar Gaievals The Girl Is Mine, Pine-Haynes, Mrs S 11-month-old black bitch just oozed quality. Beautiful balance and outline and very well presented, harsh coat of solid colour. Head fine with strong foreface, well chiselled and a defined chin. Dark almond shaped eyes with great expression. Long, wide leathers set low. Well laid-back shoulders with straight front legs on small, tight feet. Chest reaching her elbows and ribs well sprung, short strong back with muscular loin. Hind quarters well angulated, well-muscled and hocks well let down. Tail straight and well set on, carried away from the body. Beautiful to go over from head to tail and so light and elegant with proud carriage on the move. BOB+BP

2nd Afterglow Gilbert Grape, Parker-Stokes, Miss A 7-month-old black dog did well today for his age to cope with difficult conditions. Well-proportioned. Coat of good colour and texture, some small tweaks in trimming could accentuate his assets better. Dark eyes and nose. Straight forelegs sat on small, tight, oval feet. Good return of stifle and well let down hocks. Tail well set on high and straight. Still needs to mature in body. Moves true out and back and with drive from the rear. RBOB
