I thoroughly enjoyed my judging appointment at Mansfield and despite only having the one steward, he was extremely capable and manage all of the breeds efficiently. Thank you very much Bruce ! I would also like to thank all of the terrier exhibitors for entering and bringing your dogs notwithstanding being a very hot day.
Border Terrier
Puppy (2 entries, 0 abs)
1st 533 Lings’ Bigginpeak Asbradelei (BP)
This 8-month-old puppy bitch has a worthy structure and good maturity for her age. She has a neat, feminine head and a lovely reach of neck onto well-laid shoulders. She also has a correct return of upper arm. She is spannable and short coupled. Her hocks are well let down onto straight back pasterns and the neatest of feet. Given her structure she moved very well and I was satisfied to see her as Best Puppy.
2nd 528 Hall’s Borderrush Bog Bean
This 7-month-old puppy needs more body and maturity but she has quite a good outline and moved well. She is currently very raw but when she matures I am sure she will be a winner.
Junior (2 entries, 0 abs)
1st 527 Hall’s Borderrush Riscal Rioja
This bitch has a moderately broad skull with short strong muzzle and attractive dark eyes. Her forelegs are straight and well boned; not overdone. She has good quarters and was shown in very good coat. Moving, she moved very well across the ring carrying her tail well.
2nd 535 Tomlinson’s Fairhambrook King Soloman
This male has a masculine head with dark eyes, dark pigmentation and a correctly short balanced foreface. He has quite a good reach of neck into well laid shoulders. His front legs are straight onto very neat well arched feet. He has spannable correct ribs and a strong loin. He also has good quarters and moved correctly.
Post Graduate (4 entries, 2 abs)
1st 529 Heathcote’s Wadesleia Lady Madonna Saxheath VW
A 10-year-old bitch with grey fur round the muzzle. She has good pigmentation and lovely dark eyes. She has a good reach of neck into well laid shoulders and a good top-line and excellent stifles with well let down hocks. She was also my 3rd place winner in the veteran class.
2nd 526 Hall’s Ravenside Ramona At Borderrush
Unfortunately, this exhibit was not co-operating well with her handler today, nevertheless she has good bone and very neat feet. I would prefer her to have a better bend of stifle, but she moved correctly.
Open (4 entries, 2 abs)
1st 525 Hall’s Borderrush Rambutan JW
This bitch was very impressive with pleasing expressive dark eyes and a feminine head onto a good reach of neck into a very good lay of shoulder. She also has a good return of upper arm and an excellent level top-line. Shown in good harsh coat. She stands with four balanced well boned legs and has accurate stifles. Her movement was impressive so I was pleased to award her Best of Breed.
2nd 530 Heathcote’s Fevstone Polar Ajax At Saxheath
This male was also very attractive. He has a good reach of neck and good forequarters; and agai, he has a correctly spannable ribcage. When they moved together they were both impressive exhibits but standing doesn’t quite have the stifles as my first place winner. I was pleased to award him Reserve Best of Breed.
Dandie Dinmont Terrier
Puppy (2 entries, 1 abs)
1st 540 Sleight’s Bonnybeck Miss Independent
This bitch is very young puppy but she should have a bright future as she has excellent angulation fore and aft. She has quite a strong head, a correct bite, and she is impressive when standing but of course she needs more time to develop. However, today her confirmation was impressive and I was pleased to award her Best of Breed and also Best puppy.
Junior (1 entry, 0 abs)
1st 539 Sleight’s Finamor’s King Of The Road At Bonnybeck
Handled very well by the winner of puppy class, this 17-month-old male was presented in a very well-trimmed coat. I did prefer the puppy, who oozes quality and promise. Therefore, this male was Reserve Best of Breed.

1st 548 Parry’s Saxstaff La Diosa
A tan and white bitch puppy with straight well boned front legs and neat feet. She has a very well-muscled body for her age and an excellent spring of rib. Since she is very well balanced, she moved well and came to an impressive stance. Pleased to awarded her Best Puppy.
2nd 545 Hemstock’s Jolihem Naboo The Enigma
A predominantly white female SBT, who is a little older than my winner and not quite as mature but she has a very good attitude. She also has well boned forelegs and very well-muscled stifles but needs more maturity and practice to move well, which I am sure she will do in the future.

2nd 546 Holloway-Vine’s Bow Girl
She has a balanced deep head with a broad skull but her bite is not quite correct. Her front legs are quite well boned and straight but didn’t have the hind-quarters of my first place winner. She was shown in a good short shiny coat. She has really nice feet but sadly she did not want to move today; sadly the weather was really too hot for her.

This male has a broad head and very pronounced cheek muscles. His neck is strong and well-muscled and his body is very balanced with a good spring of rib and a very well-muscled level top-line. 2nd 549 Parry’s Leebee’s Zakiyah At Saxstaff
Standing this bitch has a very typical head and body for the breed overall. However, today, she did not co-operate with her handler on the move, so she needs more experience and practice. Once this exhibit has learnt how to move and show to advantage, she should do well since she is very well made.
