READING & DISTRICT KENNEL ASSOCIATION Premier Open Show

Judge; Sandie Tadd.

Thank you to the Officers and Committee for inviting me today, also to my very able Steward, who worked tirelessly keeping the ring moving in what was a very, and I believe one of the hottest spring days ever, and mostly to the exhibitors and their lovely dogs on the day of such wonderful sportsmanship and such well behaved dogs in such heat.

Spanish Water Dog

Puppy 1

1st/ Page & Robinson’s Deltoroesta Lady Of The Lake, I had this breed as an add on but so pleased I did as she’s a real baby at just 7 months old and already has the wow factor, a particoloured brown and white with oval shaped tight eyes of dark brown, flat in skull, good open nostrils, well filled in pigmentation, ear set just above eye level scissor bite with clean teeth, short in neck and of good muscle for one so young, good angulation all round not really dropped in chest yet and really would not have it expected to at her age, tight feet, moved well one to watch for the future I feel. Siberian Husky

Puppy 1 (2abs)

1st/ Dumbarton’s Howlvalleys Cute Cookie, an 8 month old bitch with such a well balanced head of fox like appearance and well chiselled but not snipy, still needs to fill in but all there for her age, well shaped eyes of light blue holding a friendly mischievous look, well furred in ears set high and being used well, scissor bite from clean teeth, good pigmentation, slight arch in neck leading to good shoulders and well held topline standing and on the move, being handled very well by a very young lad who knew what he was doing and I believe was his first time in the ring with her, I wish them good luck for the future, I’m sure we will see them a lot more of them. BP

Junior 1 (1)

Post Graduate. 4 (2)

1st/ Dumbarton’s Howlvalleys Lemon Drizzle JW, 20 months old red dog whom I have judged before as a puppy and awarded well, due to the fact he’s a very well balanced lad throughout, with a beautiful head showing he’s all male with no coarseness what so ever, brown in eye with good almond shape, height of ears slightly more than base width, set high, and well furred. He’s now dropped into himself well and has a beautiful outline with the correctness and balance and muscle needed to do the job he was born for, well muscled all through with good arch in neck, perfect scissor bite of clean teeth, proud in head on standing and movement which was straight and true, good angulation all round, moved so well with his young lady handler through to BOB.

2nd/ Gauntlett’s Eirakee’s You Go Glen Coco JW (AI) a 19 month old bitch, a very feminine bitch full of quality throughout, with a very clean cut head showing a finely chiselled foxy head, but not at all snipy, dark eye and good pigmentation, defined stop nothing over done in this girl, good reach of neck leading onto strong well muscled shoulders, and good length of leg, not completely dropped in body yet so still a bit high on leg but still very young, and I am sure it will all come, she just needs time, level topline held at all times and plenty of power in the engine at the rear took her around the ring in stile to give her RBOB.

Junior 1 (0)

1st/ Finch’s Ancksunamun fa Mulan JW, just coming up to 18 months old this brindle bitch sister to the BOB, different litter, gave her sister a good run for her money, but almost a carbon copy with her foxy head, good width of skull moderate stop, kind alert wide set eyes which were dark and watchful, lovely large erect ears set well back, clean teeth giving a scissor bite , well muscled neck leading into good shoulder lay, short in leg but good clearance of body to ground, forelegs slightly bowed to fit in nicely around chest, well held topline held on the move and standing. Good fox brush tail, in good weather proof jacket, just needs a bit more time to mature, which I am sure will not be long. RBOB

Post Graduate 2 (1)

1st/ Young’s Gowerston Genesis,2 ½ year old blue merle bitch feminine Typey head with good features including well set in ear with good size and wide at base, and kind pale blue lively eye, good width between, good pigmentation, clean in teeth set square, would have liked a tighter fit of elbows on front but she moved well holding a good topline and covering the ground well.

Open

1st/ Fitpatrick-Graham’s CH. Ancksunamun Hallows Eve JW, what a so well balanced brindle bitch at 3 ½ years of age and so well sturdy and full of her self even in the heat that we were experiencing today, I can well understand the reason of doing a second mating of her sire and dam, the sister in Junior, to this bitch is spit and image. With a super balance in her head with dark tight eye, with plenty width in skull which was flat between the erect large well set back ears, which showed that they would lay flat against her neck when needed, well laid shoulders leading out to slightly turned out round tight feet, good length in tail which was white tipped and reached the ground, strong in well angulated hind quarters, good topline held at all times, very free movement up and down, pleased to award her BOB.

Welsh Corgi ( Pembroke)

Puppy 3 (2)

1st/ Record’s Namib Mirage Of Treowecorgi With Jonjake, at just 6 months old this sable dog was very eye catching, a bold, very sturdily built, active lad, and when going over him I found he was just that! Still at this age needs time but everything that’s needed to finish up with to make a good dog in the breed is there, it just needs time to be grown into, moved straight and true out and back, held a good topline on the move and standing. BP

Junior 1 (1)

Post Graduate 1 (0)

1st/ Ellwood’s Ellhar Indian Squaw, at 21 months this bitch is carrying a little too much weight and the weather to day is not being kind to her, but she was a decent girl to go over with a very feminine head and well placed ears and a foxy head in shape, good width in head a slight rise between ears but she’s still young so time for head to really finish, round brown eyes, good set of ear, good length of neck, would like a bit more muscle on this young lass but she still has time. Moved well RBOB

Open 5 (2)

1st/ Cutts Haresfoot Fates Align JW (NBT) 2 ½ year old dog who was so in charge of the ring and such a charisma about him that he could not be denied, with plenty of substance, low set, and sturdy appearance lovely well balanced head, correct ear set, good foxy head very bright alert expression good with of skull and perfectly flat between the ears, nice stop slight tapering in muzzle, black pigmentation complete scissor bite and set square to jaw, good length of neck good strong bone nice fitting elbows good lay of shoulder , decent length of loin, broad in chest with good depth, level topline held at all times,. BOB.

2nd/ Gordons Ryslip What The Future Holds, at 5 ½ year old pleasing bitch but feeling the heat to day but still put on a good show, she had a good feminine head with all the correct attributes including good ear set and dark eye, on her build she was all female, and much lighter in bone and stature than first but in saying that she moved well and covered the ground well with good straight up and down, just a pity she had to come up against the first today,

3rd/ Ellwood’s Ellhar Olga’s Princess another bitch of 6 years old this time who again was not too happy with the very heavy hot weather, but was still of good type in head with again all the correct eyes and ears placements also had a lovely temperament as they all had to day in this breed and being one of the last breeds to be judged the heat had really got very warm and depressing, on a cooler day it might have been a different result.

Eileen Snelling Memorial Open Stakes. 39 (12)

1st/Williams & Toublic Cobhay Dashing Dandelion JW Spaniel ( English Springer) a 2 ½ year old male of god bone throughout, lovely broadness all through his head, dark eyes of almond shape and kind expression, good length of ears well feathered, set in line with eye, scissor bite from clean teeth, strong well muscled in nice length of neck, well laid in shoulders showing good extension on the move, plenty of heart room, and good bone throughout. lovely free movement with plenty of power coming through from the engine in the back end.

2nd/ Franklin, Franklin & Hucker, Bevanray Carlos JW ( Rottweiler) at just over 2 year of age this boy is all male all through, lovely broad head nothing loose on his head a deep muzzle and defined stop but not overly wrinkled, almond shaped in dark eye, tight small ears set high and wide apart, scissor bite from clean teeth, full pigmentation, good length in a well muscled neck going one to well laid shoulders, plenty of heart room level top line held at all times strong in muscle and good turn of stifle with strong hocks, moved with power and strength in the ring pushed hard for top spot, just preferred first for his overall ring presence and steadiness.

3rd/ Head’s Eusanit Red Rabbit, ( Retriever ( Nova Scotia Duck Tolling ) a very unassuming bitch at nearly 2 years old, still a lot of maturing to do but it’s all waiting in the wings, she just needs time, clean cut in head with lovely gentle eye of amber eyes, high set in ears set well back on skull, all female right through moved well and true.
