Saturday 3rd January 2026

Thank you to the society for the invitation to judge Briards at your show I had a really lovely entry and was pleased to see my puppy top the Pastoral Group.

Puppy (4,0)

1 - TRIMNELL, MISS G P - VALLONNE MAGICAL FLAME. A puppy bitch that is pleasing to the eye. Good height and length and of good bone a clean well balanced head that is developing well with good width through skull. Good length and depth to muzzle with defined stop. Lovely dark eye set well with tight rims and good pigment. Good length to a well furnished ear set well. Strong neck leading into a well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. A parallel straight front stood on good feet. Lovely level Topline with slight drop to croup which allows the tail to be placed correctly and having the “J” shape. Rear has a good turn of stifle with broad muscular thighs and well let down hocks. Coat coming through as it should at this age. Correct double dew claws. On the move this exhibit was well balanced with a good amount of rear drive and reach in front all whilst covering the ground. BPIB and pleased to see they went on to win the Pastoral Puppy Group.

2 - TRIMNELL, MR I & MRS T & MISS G - VALLONNE MAGICAL ILLUSION litter sibling to 1. Similar comment apply. A feminine headpiece with good proportions in head balanced by enough stop. Good width and depth through skull and muzzle. Ears are set on high and of good size framing the face well. A lovely dark eye set well in skull. Strong neck of good length which leads into a well constructed front with a good lay of shoulder and straight front. Chest developing ok for age. Another with a lovely topline and muscular loin. Tail set well and required “J” hook. A well developed rear with muscular thigh and well let down parallel hocks. On the move there was a good drive just needs to tighten up in front.

Junior (1,0)

1 - WESCOTT-SMITH & SMITH, MRS T & MR S - URBAN LEGEND DILORINI AT ROZIMBA (IMP POL). A rich fawn colour male who is masculine throughout. This dog really gave his handler a hard task at every given minute. A well balanced headpiece with correct proportions and a strong muzzle with enough stop. Dark eyes set well in head with good pigment throughout. An arched neck which leads into a well constructed forequarters. Good lay of shoulder with straight front and good bone. Would like a better top line, tends to rise on both stand and the move. Still a youngster and chest is where it should be in development. Angled well in rear with super muscle tone which should be commended to owner/handler for conditioning well. A good tail set with the breed required “J” hook. I feel I didn’t see the best of this dog on the move today but it could be advantageous for the movement to be slower.

Post Graduate (1,0)

1 - WESCOTT-SMITH & SMITH, MRS T & MR S - SUNRISE MADISON DILORINI WITH ROZIMBA (IMP BEL) LUX JNR CH. A feminine bitch with a pretty head. Good muzzle to skull ratio. Would like a fraction more width through skull. Ears are set incredibly well and are of good length and well furnished. Eyes are dark and set well in skull. Good reach of neck with a lovely lay of shoulders and return of upper arm. Good for bone. Would like a slightly straighter front. Topline firm and level with a good spring of rib slightly shorter coupled than the BOB. Rear has good angles throughout and let down hocks with dew claws. On the move needs to be a fraction slower to allow the rear to step through with drive. A lovely reach in front.

Open (5,3)

1 - RYAN, MS J - FOSTEBRIE PURE BINOCHE FOR BADGERHURST JW. I loved the size and shape of this girl, she is longer than high with a well presented coat. Slightly paler fawn. A feminine headpiece with good width and depth through skull. Correct muzzle to skull proportions with a balanced stop. Ears are set well and are of good size and well furnished. Eyes are of good shape and size giving off such a gentle expression. Well assembled front with a well laid shoulder and return of upper arm with elbows close to a well developed chest. Lovely straight front and enough bone. Arched neck leading into a level Topline with a muscular loin and a slightly angled rump which creates the correct tail set and breed “J” hook. Angles in rear match the front and muscled well throughout. Hocks are parallel and let down. On the move this girl was a pleasure to watch; she had good drive in rear with a lovely reach in front all whilst maintaining Topline and balance. BOB.

2 - WESCOTT-SMITH & SMITH, MRS T & MR S - BEL/LUX CH VIVIENNE DE L'ARENE NOIRE AT ROZIMBA (IMP BEL) BEL JNR CH/BWJ23/WWJ23. A different type to 1 and up to height . A clean, well balanced head with super proportions. Good width and depth throughout skull. Super balance in muzzle with good stop. Eyes are set well with good pigment. Ears set well and when something caught her attention her ears came up and it was a lovely picture of the headpiece. Lovely reach of neck leading down into clean well laid shoulders, a good return of upper arm and elbows close to a deep well filled chest. Super bone would just like more forward facing feet and pasterns. Super Topline which was held at all times. Good tail set. Angles in rear good with well developed thighs. Hocks let down with dew claws. Lovely reach in front could do with slowing down the pace to allow the rear to drive and enhance the ground cover.
