Heywood & Radcliffe Canine Society Critiques

I would like to give my thanks for the kind invitation to judge at Heywood & Radcliffe Canine Society. It was a real pleasure to be part of such a well-organised and welcoming event. I would also like to thank the stewards that supported me throughout the day.

Whippet

Class 46 – Puppy (5,0)

1st – SARAQUELE SMOOTH CRIMINAL (Mrs S A Kemp) – A young brindle dog who was mature and well developed for his age. He had a good head and expression. Pleasing topline. Moved with a smooth, balanced action. His effortless movement and balance won him the class. Good bone and correct feet. Hope he has finished growing. Pleased to award this young dog BOB & BPiB.

2nd – COLLOONEY TAKE ON THE DEVIL (Mrs V Coulter & Mrs N Craig) – A black and white that had a lovely front action. Lovely front angulation. Not as mature as first and rear action was not as clean. Longer cast that 1st which affected his topline.

Class 47 – Junior (4,3)

1st – SARAQUELE SMOOTH N SASSY (Mrs S A Kemp) – A fawn puppy of lovely proportions, nice and curvy. Little more rear angulation than what is desired but true moving away. Lovely front angulation, pleasing head and sweet expression.

Class 48 – Post Graduate (2,1)

1st – COLLOONEY STRAWBERRY WINE (Mrs V Coulter) – A red and white which had a nice outline, pleasing head and good length of neck. Moved true on the up and down but in profile lacked a little drive in rear action. Held a solid topline on the move.

Class 49 – Open (6,2)

1st – REFFTON TIBALT AT WHIPSEARLE (IMP ITA) (Miss N Searle & Ms M Rawlinson) – A dog that I have awarded highly previously and still like his proportions however today he was carrying too much weight which made his front action slightly too wide. Despite this he won the class on maintaining parallel actions at all times. Very nice movement in profile.

2nd – SILKRIDGE SAFFRON OF FLETCHGATE (Miss J Wilkinson) – A brindle parti that had a lot to like, not too long and held a lovely topline at all times. Moved true on the up and down. Lacked a little fill in chest which was the difference between 1st and 2nd. Pleasing head and expression.

Afghan Hound

Class 50 – Puppy (3,2)

1st – ISTANI MISS JACKSON AT ANDAZRAQ’S (Miss A Reaney) – A truly beautiful pup that moved so well for such a tender age on a difficult surface. To me this puppy showed a lot of promise. This puppy has a good topline which was held on the move and had adequate bone for age. Pleased to award this youngster BOB & BPiB.

Class 51 – Junior (1,1)

Class 52 – Postgraduate (0,0)

Class 53 – Open (2,2)

Rhodesian Ridgeback

Class 54 – Puppy (1,1)

Class 55 – Junior (1,0)

1st – JOCERIK ELLA ANGAN (Miss J R Cyprien) – Still an immature youngster who needs time to develop but at this stage has a good head which creates the correct expression. Well angulated front and rear. Moved soundly at all times despite the difficult floor for the larger breeds. Pleasing proportions with lovely length of ribbing. Pleased to award this youngster BOB & BPiB.

Class 56 – Post Graduate (1,0)

Class 57 – Open (3,3)

Beagle

Class 58– Puppy (3,1)

1st – KINGSWIN GIFTED (Ms D Bridgeman & Mr H Logue) – A youngster with the correct portions, just a little more bone that is asked for. Moved well at all times for a raw puppy and won the class on clean rear action. Lovely head and expression with a good length to neck.

2nd – STANSEREN’S MOANING MYRTYLE (Mrs L Jones) – Similar pleasing proportions as first and also had the correct head and expression. Would like a little more rear angulation and needs to firm in rear which will hopefully come with time. Held topline at all times.

Class 59 – Junior (1,1)

Class 60 – Post Graduate (1,0)

1st – KINGSWIN CELESTE (Ms D Bridgeman & Mr H Logue) – Another youngster of a pleasing type with a good head and expression. Had the correct proportions and held topline on the stack and move. Would prefer cleaner rear action but will hopefully come in time.

Class 61 – Open (2,2)
