Yorkshire Collie Club

Yorkshire Collie Club – Open Show 15 February 2026

Open Show

I would like to thank the committee for giving me the opportunity to judge the Smooth Collies at their lovely show, this show is always so friendly and welcoming and it was an honour to be a part of. I would also like to thank the stewards on the day, who helped keep the ring running smoothly. Lastly I would like to say a huge thank you to all the exhibitors who brought their wonderful Smooth Collies along for me to judge and who took my decisions with great sportsmanship. So many happy wagging tails and the quality of all the dogs made decisions very hard.

Collie (Smooth) Veteran Dog or Bitch (2/1)

1. Benton’s CH OAKESTELLE ARTEMIS SHCEX VW (BV) 8.5 year old blue merle female who was the picture of dignity and overall first impressions of balance with no exaggerations overall. She had a lovely clean wedge shaped head with nice parallel plains and a slight stop, ears nicely tipped and lovely dark almond eyes which completed her intelligent look. This lady is muscular in the hind with straight forelegs and she could do a full days work with ease. Her muscular neck was of good length and she had good length of back with slight rise over her loins. Moved with such ease that it belies her age. Clear silvery blue coat with harsh texture.

Collie (Smooth) Puppy Dog or Bitch (3/1)

1. Russell’s KOCZKODAN IN MY HEART (BP) 11 month old sable and white female. This little lady has a lovely head with parallel plains, clean cheeks, slight stop, lovely, blunted wedge shape and dark eyes. Her ear placement is nice and added to her sweet expression. She has a nice long arched neck. Her shoulders are sloped and her body is slightly longer that her height with slight rise over her loin. She has a nice harsh coat but was a little erratic in movement at first but once settled moved well, I look forward to seeing how she develops.

2. Leavesley’s LIZONI MODRY FANTSIE 11 month old blue merle male. I liked this young man very much and it was unfortunate he met number 1 today. He has a well blunted skull which is smooth without any prominent features. He has parallel plains with a slight stop. His ear are well tipped although a little wide apart. He has a nice long neck and good length of back. He moved well and has a nicely black marbled silvery blue harsh coat. I also look forward to seeing this young man develop and muscle up.

Collie (Smooth) Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (1/0)

1. Leavesley’s LIZONI LONE RANGER 3 year old tricolour male. This boy is very masculine and well-muscled, I have in my notes ‘All male’ and this sums this boy up nicely. He has a flat skull with good parallel lines and is well balanced complete with good earset, tight lips and dark almond eyes. Good length of neck flowing nicely over back, over loins and down croup. Well sprung and deep ribs would allow this boy to work. He has a lovely jet black coat with rich tan makings. Once settled, he moved well.

Collie (Smooth) Limit Dog or Bitch (2/0)

1. Wensley’s BLAMORDER STARSTRUCK BY VERSATILIS (RBOB) 13 month old sable and white female. This little lady is very elegant and a picture of balance with nothing out of place. She has the sweetest expression and her head has good parallel plains with slight stop and well balanced. Her beautiful dark almond eyes and well set ears add to her overall feminine expression. Very elegant well arched neck led down to a lovely, sloped shoulder with good front angulation. She has good body length and has well bent stifles with well bent stifles. On the move she moved well and was effortless. I rewarded her with RBOB as she was unfortunate to meet my BOB on the day, but a very lovely little lady.

2. Richardson’s CELETE UTA ANYYARU OF LIZONI (IMP CZE) 3.5 year old blue merle female. She has a nice clean wedge shaped head with well-placed ears which were well tipped. Her stop is slightly further forward on her head but is slight. She has a well arched muscular neck but found her shoulders to be slightly straight. She has well sprung ribs with deep chest. She was well muscled and has a lovely silvery blue harsh coat. Went well on the move.

Collie (Smooth) Open Dog or Bitch (4/1)

1. Benton’s CH BLAMORDER DOUBLE OR QUITS OF OAKESTELLE JW (BOB) 22 month old blue merle female. The first word in my notes is wow, this lady oozes femininity and is a picture of elegance. She has a wonderful well balanced head with slight perceptible stop, tight lips, nice eyes which are obliquely set and well placed ears which are tipped at the top third. Her well arched neck leads to a lovely sweep over her back and over her lions which have a slight rise. She is muscular with straight front legs and powerful hindquarters which led down to well bent stifles. Moved well and with purpose and the whole picture was effortless. Her coat was harsh and a wonderful silvery blue with nice dark marbling. I was so pleased I could award her BOB.

2. Wensley’s CH INT CH IR CH SWISS SH CH CONSTELLA HAZY COSMIC JIVE JW 4.5 year old tricolour male. This boy has a deep dark black harsh coat with rich tan markings and is so friendly. He is another one who is all male, he has a very masculine head with clean cheeks, well bunted wedge shape, scissor bite and parallel lines complete with slight stop. He has a sweet expression with dark almond eyes and well set ears. This boy has a muscular powerful neck, good slope of shoulder, straight front legs, deep chest with well sprung ribs. He is muscular and this enabled him to move effortlessly around the ring.

3. Richardson’s KOCZKODAN SWEET DREAMS OF LIZONI
