Larkhall & District Canine Club

Breed: Collie (Rough)

Larkhall and District Canine Club – Open Show 27 June 2026

100th Anniversary Open Show

I would like to thank the committee for giving me the opportunity to judge the Rough Collies at this show, it was such a pleasure to be part of this show and help celebrate 100 years of the Larkhall and District Canine Club. I would also like to thank the stewards on the day, who helped keep the ring running. Last of all I would like to say a huge thank you to all the exhibitors who brought their dogs along for me to judge and who mostly took my decisions with great sportsmanship.

Collie (Rough) Post Graduate (3/0)

1. Clark Kerr’s SALSINA LOVE ME DO FOR WHITECRAIGS 2-year-old sable and white female. This little lady was unsettled on the day, but she does have the sweetest expression. She has dark oblique set eyes with a slight stop and good scissor bite. Her ear placement is nice and not too wide apart which she carried semi-erect. She has a nicely arched neck, nice slope of shoulder leading down to straight forelegs. She has a firm back with slight rise over the loin. She has a thick harsh coat which was brushed beautifully. She moved well around the ring.

2. Gee’s INGLEDENE SO TRIED TO BE BLU 4.5-year-old tricolour female who is elegantly shaped, she has a lovely well-balanced wedge-shaped head with slight but perceptible stop and dark eyes which are obliquely set. I personally found her ears a little wide set and quite light in the tip. She has a good length of neck which is well arched. She has good slope of shoulder which are well angulated leading down to straight legs. She has good length of back and rise over loin. She is well angulated throughout and moved well but slightly close at the back. She has a nice tight fitted harsh coat which is richly coloured and although she is in ‘her bikini wear’ there was no hiding her quality. A very close call with her and first place.

3. Hutchings RIVERSIDE SONG THRILLS OF NIGHT AT SCOTTRYE (IMP ROM).

Collie (Rough) Open (6/2)

1. Gee’s INGLEDENE POWDERED SUGAR (BOB) 4.5-year-old blue merle female who I must say made my heart sing when she came into the ring. This lady is very elegant with lovely flowing lines and the nicest silvery clear blue coat with black marbling which was harsh to the touch. This lady has a wonderful wedge-shaped head with slight stop and lovely clean cheeks. She has a sweet expression and lovely oblique set almond shaped eyes. Her ear set is good, and it was only upon receiving the catalogue following judging, I noticed she is sister to my 2nd in PG class. She has a well arched neck and has wonderful angulation throughout, firm back with slight rise over loins and a deep well sprung chest. On the move she was effortless and smooth with drive from the rear. I had no problems at all giving her Best of Breed.

2. Houlihan’s KOURIKA FROSTED ICE (BVIB) 7-year-old blue merle male who was well presented. He has a sweet expression with a wedge-shaped head, clean cheeks and well-placed ears. He has a slight perceptible stop and dark oblique set eyes. This male had plenty of bone and has nice slope of shoulder. He has deep well sprung ribs which were well covered. He moved well and covered ground. He was unfortunate to come up against my first, but I had no problem giving him Best Veteran in Breed.

3. Clark Kerr’s UFFSPRING UNIQUELY MAYD FOR WHITECRAIGS.
