Thank you to the society for inviting me to judge these two terrier breeds, and their lovely hospitality. It is worth recognising the layout of this venue was excellent with beautifully large rings allowing plenty of space to assess movement, and room for playful puppies in the sand to get settled. Thank you to my steward, who I apologise I did not get the name of, but done an excellent job.
Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
Junior (2,0 abs)
These two made me smile, they had an exciting time in the sand and showed just how much they are puppies!
1. Johnstone’s - Clover Supernova Over Rouxboos (IMP USA)
A smart pup, with what one would imagine is a good future ahead of her! Very playful in the sand today but handled well. Coat is as one would expect at this age, with plenty more to come. Head of decent size and ratios, with a beautiful expression. Muzzle square housing a correct bite. Front of good width and bone, shoulders laid back, with developing muscle as one would want in a puppy. Her body is balanced and held her topline stood and, on the move, and shows sufficient rear angulation. Considered for RBOB but still immature in coat and movement cost her today against more mature exhibits. But happily, awarded best puppy, good luck in the future!
2. Munns - Snowmeadow unforget ubble
Just shy of 7 months, this youngster gave away a fair amount on maturity, but there is still a lot of time to come so early in their show career and still lots to like. A keen and alert expression, head of correct proportions, developing well showing no signs of snippiness and housing a correct bite. Her body is balanced showing good width and developing muscles and rear. Her topline was level on the move. Similar to one, coat is as one would expect at this age. Another one who enjoyed their time in the sand today, I do think time will be so virtuous to her.
Post Graduation (2,0 abs)
1. Copper’s - Janeyjimjams Jinja Rogers
A compact bitch with good substance. She has an abundant coat, as expected for her age. Her head of typical proportions, with a defined stop, and no snippiness and eyes well placed and correct bite. Her front is straight, her body balanced for length and height, and her rear moderately angulated. Her tail is set correct and carried well. She moved well holding her topline level, which secured her this class. But I feel she would benefit from more conditioning to improve her overall appearance. Was challenged very closely by the puppy for RBOB but won it on movement and maturity.
2. John’s - Dohoci Cariad
An attractive bitch, with a balanced appearance and keen expression. Slightly longer in head than one, but with defined stop and looking balanced. Front assembly straight and correct. Body is well defined and topline level, leading back to a well angulated rear. Presented in a better condition one, given a pleasing overall silhouette. Lost out on movement to one, as was just a tad looser in the rear movement.

1. Munn’s - Snowmeadow Treacle Toffee
Smart bitch, with good substance, and size. Slighter longer in cast but appearing balanced enough, in all over aspects. Her head of good length, with sufficient stop. Her muzzle square, her teeth large and a powerful jaw. Her front straight leading down to springy pasterns. She has enough width for her size, and she moved well upholding her topline aiding her visible virtues. She appeared loose in front at first, but when moved at the correct pace everything tightened up and her overall picture was improved. I was happy to award BOB.
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Puppy (3,0 abs)
1. Wareham’s - Wonderstaff Baby’s in Black
A very smart black brindle bitch at 10 months. Strong yet feminine head, with good proportions. Her eyes dark and round, ears neat, and bite correct. Front of enough width and good construction. Her body houses a developing spring of rib for her age, and a showing a light loin. Her rear is developing well, with a great width to her thigh. She moved well, showing desired drive. I would like her feet to tighten up as she matures. Pushed so hard for BOB, but lost out on maturity, but I think she will be one to watch as she matures. Happily, awarded her RBOB and Best puppy. Good luck with her, I think you will enjoy it!
2. Rowland’s - Bilrosestaff Sweetie Pie
At Just 7 months, she was the baby of this class but not fazed by anything. Very pretty red bitch, her head feminine with big dark round eyes and is clean as a whistle. Being on the smaller end of the standard she was still balanced, showing enough width for her current stature. Her body shows a good depth of brisket, developing rib, a light loin, and a developing rear. She moved with confidence round the ring. Being so young she has a lot of time to mature, and lost out due to this today, but I believe she has much more to come.
Junior (1,0abs)
1. McCafferty’s - Wonderstaff This Boy
This boy caught my eye as soon as he walked in, very balanced, and quite the headpiece, He has good strength for his size, with good bone. His rib well sprung and his body maturing nicely. His rear shows good angulation and is developing well. Similar to his litter sibling, his feet and still to tighten up to improve the overall picture. He moved out unsettled at first, but given enough time moved okay. I really liked him, but he just lost out previously as he just was not having it today, on his second go in he gave me the chance to assess him. Stick with him, like his sister he has a lot more to come yet.
Postgraduate (3, 1abs)
1. Blagg & Whitehead’s - Keep it Lowkee at Pinbystaff
A red lad who I have had the privilege to judge before; it is nice to see maturity working in his favour. His head strong, but with good ratios. His eyes well placed and round. He has a good length of muzzle, clean tight lips, with correct bite and underjaw. His body is a good strength for size with plenty of width to front, well boned legs and a sprung rib. His rear sufficiently angulated and his feat neat. His movement with good enough, just the sand was tempting him a bit, however I saw what I needed. His condition was excellent, and a credit to owners. Even though challenged by the puppy secured his BOB on his maturity and virtues.
2. Wareham’s - Maynestaff Morning Glow
Black brindle bitch, with a pretty expression. Standard size with good strength for size and excellent bone. Her head is powerful with a broad skull and well-muscled cheeks. Her ears neat, eyes round and her underjaw strong. Her front is of good width and her feet neat. Her body shows a good depth to brisket, and her rib is well sprung, her rear has sufficient angulation, and well-muscled thighs Whilst stood her topline is level but just dropped her level topline on the move. Dam to the puppy and junior winners, and clear to see shared passed on many virtues.
