Salisbury & South Wilts Canine Society

Open Show – 20th September 2026

Judge: Michael Masters (Manchela)

Thank you to the Officers and Committee for the kind invitation to judge at this show, my appreciation to my stewards Sue and Barry for keeping the ring in order, but most of all a big thank you to the exhibitors for their entries.

WHIPPET, PUPPY – 2 entries, 0 absent.

1. Strong & Clinton’s CROSSCOP PEEK A BOO MACKJAMA

Heading this class is a fawn female with a pretty balanced head, neat ears and good eye shape and colour. She excels in shoulder placement, correct in body with well developed ribs extending well back to short loin, firm topline and strong quarters. She moves sound holding a striking shape in profile. I would like to see a little more personality and enthusiasm. BPIB

2. Courtney & Wallace’s COURTHBIRCH MOONDUST

This young lad is up to size but presents a balanced picture in profile with everything in proportion. He has a masculine head with good eye shape, needs to grow into his ears at present. He is well made in front with a well developed rib cage for his age, found him a little steep in croup and his movement was untidy today. He has time on his side.

WHIPPET, JUNIOR – 3 entries, 0 absent.

1. Saxby’s SANDSPRING SOPHIA LOREN

This fawn female has a very pretty head with correct eye shape, albeit a little lighter shade than I would prefer. She is well made in front, beautiful in body with well muscled hind quarters. She insisted on moving with a crabbing action but I could see enough to find her otherwise sound.

3. Courtney & Wallace’s COURTHBIRCH MOONDANCE

This young male is litter brother to 2nd in puppy and very similar attributes apply. This boy was more together than his sibling on the move with more accurate footfall and covering the ground with ease. These are very raw babies and I look foward to seeing how they develop going forward.

2. Chappell’s BLUEFLIGHT BLIZZARD OF OZ

WHIPPET, SPECIAL YEARLING – 0 entries.

WHIPPET, POST GRADUATE – 2 entries, 0 absent.

1. Chappell’s BLUEFLIGHT MISTIQUE

This lady was my star of the day for her unexaggerated breed type and balance. I found her head delightful with neat rose shaped ears, correct eye shape and colour. She excels in front assembly with lovely depth to brisket, well sprung ribs and elbows well tucked in. Her outline is a series of graceful curves which gave her the elegance I was looking for. She has well muscled quarters with lovely width over the rear. Her movement was spot on for accuracy, moving parallel both ways. Delighted to award her BOB over a very nice quality Open Bitch winner which she out moved on the run off.

2. Whitmore’s KIERPARK POWER OF LOVE AT WHITLEARA

This brindle female has a very pretty head and eye, however she stood and moved a little narrow in front today and moved rather erratically when going away.

WHIPPET, LIMIT – 3 entries, 1 absent.

Two exhibits of different types, splitting hairs today and I am sure they do and will change places.

1. Chappell’s BLUEFLIGHT FOGGY BOTTOM

A feminine female with a pretty balanced head and neat ears, she has good eye shape and colour giving an alert expression. She has strong constructed fore quarters with plenty of depth to brisket and correct width all through. Moved sound.

2. Strong’s CROSSCOP KISS ME HERE FOR MACKJAMA

Up to size male with a masculine lean head of good proportions, he has a good eye shape and colour and neat ears. He has correct body weight and strong well muscled quarters. I would like to see his ribs extending further back.

WHIPPET, OPEN DOG – 3 entries, 2 absent.

1. Chappell’s BLUEFLIGHT MAN OF MYSTERY

A 6 yr old male with a masculine head of good proportions and flat skull, he has neat ears, good eye shape and colour. His body has correct covering, however I would like to see a better tuck up on him. I found him a little lacking in upper arm which gave him a rather high stepping action in profile, he was also erratic in hind action which lacked follow through.

WHIPPET, OPEN BITCH – 5 entries, 1 absent.

The strongest class on the day for depth of quality and took a little sorting out.

1. Chappell’s BLUEFLIGHT SUN WARRIOR

This girl filled my eye for breed type and balance, I found her head delightfully feminine with lovely neat rose shaped ears, good eye shape and colour. I loved her for her size, make and curvaceous shape giving that desired elegant outline. She is striking on the move covering the ground with ease, just preferred her kennel mate on width of hind action. RBOB

2. Longhurst’s ABBEYHURST DANCING QUEEN JW

A very nice girl a size larger, of different type but with everything in proportion, her head is feminine with lovely eye shape and neat ears. She has good depth all through, correct in body with a nice definite tuck up. She is sound on the move but lacked the stature and animation of the winner.

3. Courtney & Wallace’s LOROLI STONED IN LOVE WITH COURTBIRCH
