1. Basset Hound - Baby Puppy Dog

1ST 26 - Clanwillow Love and Dreams (Mrs S B & Mr K R Jones)

Very appealing youngster, lovely headpiece with correct proportions and lovely expression. Good length of ear, well set, and already showing typical breed character. Nicely balanced for age with a pleasing outline, good bone and substance. Well laid shoulder and developing body. Rear quarters sound with correct tail carriage. Moved steadily with confidence for one so young.

2. Basset Hound - Baby Puppy Bitch

1ST 28 - Clanwillow Summer Loving (Mrs Sb & Mr Kr & Ms K & Ms C Jones & Jones & Holland & Ramunno)

Attractive baby, very typical and feminine throughout with a pleasing head and expression. Good length of ear, well set, and already showing lovely breed type. Nicely balanced with good bone and substance for age, good front and well placed shoulder. Body developing well with correct proportions, sound rear and well carried tail. Moved confidently and steadily, showing herself well.

3. Basset Hound - Veteran Dog

1ST 32 - Diheath Really Cosmic at Kejana (Miss D, Mr K P, Mrs J A & Miss N E Melbourne & Hirst)

Quality, well balanced veteran presented in excellent condition. Masculine head with kind, typical expression and good length of ear. Strong neck into well laid shoulder, good forechest and plenty of bone. Body well ribbed with correct depth and length, topline held well. Sound quarters and correct tail carriage. Moved steadily and with purpose, still covering the ground well.

2ND 42 - Wellsbayview Sorrento (Mrs L A Saunders)

Second, a masculine hound of pleasing type, lower to ground and presenting a balanced outline. Carries himself well. Not the front of my winner, and would prefer more strength behind, also not in the same hard condition today which showed on the move. Nevertheless, a sound, typical exhibit with much to like.

6. Basset Hound - Junior Dog

1ST 29 - Clanwillow Kiss of Fire (Mrs Lucy Martin)

First in Junior Dog, a well-presented, masculine hound of good type and balance, standing over plenty of ground while remaining low set. Pleasing head with good length of ear and correct expression. Well laid shoulder with good upper arm, body of good length with adequate bone and substance. Moved steadily with purpose, just needing to strengthen a little behind as expected for age. In good condition and shown to advantage.

2ND 34 - Diheath Cracker (Miss D & Miss J Melbourne & Murray)

Second to the winner, a masculine hound with a lovely expression and eye, and correct bite. Higher off the ground than my first and lacking his keel, but presents a balanced outline. Moved out well with good purpose.

7. Basset Hound - Special Yearling Dog

1ST 13 - Malrich Shaken Not Stirred (Mr M & Mrs D Ellrich)

First in Special Yearling Dog and Reserve Best Dog, a quality, masculine hound of excellent type and balance. Good head with correct expression and eye, well set ears of good length. Well constructed throughout with good bone and substance, standing over plenty of ground while retaining the desired low set. Shows a pleasing outline with good body and length, and a well-developed keel. Moved out soundly with purpose, covering the ground well. In good condition and expertly handled.

8. Basset Hound - Post Graduate Dog

1ST 33 - Diheath Chekov JW (Miss D & Miss J Melbourne & Murray)

First in Post Graduate Dog, a masculine hound of good type with a pleasing head, correct expression and eye, and well set ears. Good forehand with adequate upper arm, standing over sufficient ground while maintaining the desired low set. Well bodied with good length and substance, showing a balanced outline. Moved out steadily and soundly. In good order and well handled. A solid, honest exhibit.

9. Basset Hound - Limit Dog

1ST 24 - Clanwillow Fire and Ice JW (Mrs S B & Mr K R Jones)

First in Limit Dog, Best Dog and Best in Show, a top quality, masculine hound of lovely type and balance. Excellent head with correct expression, good eye and long, well set ears. Superb front construction with well laid shoulder and strong upper arm, giving a true, flowing outline. Well ribbed with good length of body and a deep, well developed keel, supported by ample bone and substance while retaining correct ground clearance. Hindquarters strong and well muscled. Moved with purpose and drive, covering the ground effortlessly while remaining true. In excellent condition and presented to perfection.

2ND 14 - Dizandra Carpe Noctem (Miss A Gambling)

Second to the winner, a tri colour masculine hound with correct bite. Well laid shoulder and a good rear, presenting a balanced outline. Longer in body and not as well ribbed as my first. Moved out well and shown to advantage.

10. Basset Hound - Open Dog

1ST 22 - Am Gchs Clanwillow Back to The Future (Mrs S B & Mr K R Jones)

First in Open Dog, a quality, masculine hound of excellent type and balance. Strong head with correct expression, good eye and well set ears. Well constructed in front with good shoulder placement and adequate upper arm, giving a pleasing outline. Well ribbed with good length of body and a deep keel, supported by ample bone and substance while maintaining correct ground clearance. Hindquarters strong and well developed. Moved out soundly with drive, covering the ground well. In hard condition and presented to advantage.

12. Basset Hound - Veteran Bitch

1ST 27 - Clanwillow Shining Bright (Mrs S B & Mr K R Jones)

First in Veteran Bitch and Best Veteran in Show, a lovely feminine hound who belies her years. Pleasing head with kind expression, good eye and well-set, lengthy ears. Balanced throughout with good body, adequate bone and correct ground clearance. Maintains a sound outline with sufficient keel and well held topline. Moved out steadily and soundly, covering the ground with ease. In excellent condition for her age and a credit to her owner.

14. Basset Hound - Puppy Bitch

1ST 8 - Lauralee Mystical Magic (Miss L & Mrs J Armstrong)

First in Puppy Bitch, Reserve Best Bitch and Best Puppy in Show, a very promising youngster of lovely type and balance. Feminine head with sweet expression, good eye and well set, lengthy ears. Well constructed for her age with a pleasing outline, good body length and developing keel. Stands over sufficient ground while maintaining correct proportions. Moved out freely and soundly, covering the ground well. In excellent condition and shown to advantage.

2ND 15 - Becky V Grunsven at Braithwell (Imp Nld) NAF TAF (Mrs V L Green)

Second to the winner, a feminine youngster with correct bite, good reach of neck and a pleasing head and expression. Longer in cast than my first, but still presents a balanced outline for her age. Shows good promise in body and development. Moved out well with a steady, true action.

15. Basset Hound - Junior Bitch

1ST 7 - Lauralee Magic Image (Miss L & Mrs J Armstrong)

1st, 10 months old red and white, a very promising youngster of lovely type. Correct bite, good reach of neck flowing into a well laid shoulder and good return of upper arm. Holds a firm topline, longer in body than her sister, with a lovely rear and developing strength. Balanced throughout and moved out freely and soundly.

2ND 18 - Astra Vgrunsven at Bassluxe (Imp Nld) (Mrs J Hampton)

2nd, another lovely bitch with much to like. Feminine with a pleasing head and expression, correct bite and good reach of neck into a well laid shoulder. Presents a balanced outline and moved out well with a steady, true action.

First in Yearling Bitch, a feminine hound of pleasing type. Lovely head and expression with good eye and well set ears. Good reach of neck into a well laid shoulder, giving a balanced outline. Well bodied for her age and stands over sufficient ground. Moved out well and shown to advantage.

2ND 19 - Your Faith Van Grunsven at Bassluxe (Imp Nld) (Mrs J Hampton)

Second to the winner, a tri colour feminine hound with correct bite and well set ears. Good reach of neck into well laid forequarters, well ribbed and balanced throughout. Presents a pleasing outline, standing over sufficient ground. Moved out well with a steady, true action and shown to advantage.

17. Basset Hound - Post Graduate Bitch

1ST 36 - Diheath Marta (Miss, Miss & Mr Melbourne, Murray & Fitzpatrick-Odahamier)

First in Post Graduate Bitch, a feminine hound of good type and balance. Pleasing head with kind expression, good eye and well set ears. Good reach of neck into well laid forequarters, giving a clean outline. Well bodied with good length and rib, standing over sufficient ground while maintaining correct proportions. Hindquarters balanced and adequate. Moved out well with a steady, true action and shown to advantage. A sound, honest exhibit.

2ND 1 - Nelgus Coco Pop (Mrs C Allchorne)

Second to the winner, a tri colour feminine hound, longer in cast and presenting a balanced outline. A little unsettled on the day which affected her performance, but showed better when more relaxed. Lovely feet. Moved adequately and handled sympathetically. A nice bitch with qualities to appreciate.

18. Basset Hound - Limit Bitch

1ST 16 - Nefritis Black Beauty at Braithwell (hun Imp) (Mrs V L Green)

First in Limit Bitch, a quality feminine hound of good type and balance. Pleasing head with kind expression, good eye and well set ears. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, giving a clean, flowing outline. Well bodied with good length and rib, supported by adequate bone and substance while maintaining correct ground clearance. Hindquarters well developed. Moved out soundly with purpose, covering the ground well. In good condition and shown to advantage.

2ND 35 - Diheath Elvis (Miss, Miss & Mr Melbourne, Murray & Fitzpatrick-Odahamier)

Second to the winner, a red and white of lovely type. Correct bite, lovely feet and good forequarters, presenting a balanced, pleasing outline. Well bodied with good length and stands over sufficient ground. Strong rear, moving out well with drive and purpose. A quality exhibit with much to like.

19. Basset Hound - Open Bitch

First in Open Bitch, Best Bitch and Reserve Best in Show, a quality feminine hound of excellent type and balance. Lovely head with kind expression, good eye and well-set, lengthy ears. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, giving a clean, flowing outline. Well bodied with good length, well ribbed with a deep keel, supported by ample bone and substance while maintaining correct ground clearance. Hindquarters strong and well developed. Moved out with purpose and drive, covering the ground well while remaining true. In excellent condition and presented to perfection.

2ND 41 - Beckshounds Luminara JW (Mrs L A Saunders)

Second to the winner, a tri-colour feminine hound of pleasing type. Adequate shoulder and upper arm, presenting a fair, balanced outline and standing over sufficient ground. Well bodied with good length. Moved out well with a steady action and shown to advantage.

21. Basset Hound - Brace

1ST 23 - Clanwillow Centenary Dream (Mrs S B & Mr K R Jones)

A very well matched pair of baby puppies, full of quality and breed type. Both of pleasing outline and balance, complementing each other well. Particularly liked these two, who stood out for their overall promise and charm.
