What an excellent, well organised and friendly show. Many thanks to the committee for the invite and for their warm welcome and hospitality on the day. There were some quality exhibits who all coped remarkably well with the unseasonably warm May weather.

Alaskan Malamute

Class 401 Alaskan Malamute Junior (1 entry, 0 absent)

1st Sutton’s Icewolf Midsommer Dream. 10-month-old dog of much promise. Typical head shape with good breadth of skull and well featured with no indication of coarseness. Attentive expression and an outgoing temperament. Truth be told, he was perhaps a little too animated and playful on the day, but this is easily forgivable in a puppy and I much prefer to see a little character that an over-schooled automaton. He is of good size, with good bone and substance, and although still young, is developing a strong musculature to match his sizable frame. Agile and lively on the move, with a powerful gait on good drive. Pleased to award BPIB and Puppy Group 3

Class 402 Alaskan Malamute Post Graduate (1 entry, 0 absent)

1st Hooley’s Bartkennels Ljosalfar. 2 ½ year old bitch of smaller size but nevertheless sufficient substance and proportionate build and conformation. Pleasing head and expression, well bodied and with nice angles from and rear. Had a tendency to want to break into a gallop on the move, but once settled into her stride, moved out well with good reach and drive. BoB.

Class 410 Bouvier Des Flanders Post Graduate (2 entries, 1 absent)

1st Jones’ Abbiville Winter Dream. 17mth old mid size bitch. Not yet fully mature, but showing excellent type. Good conformation with that typical short-coupled, cobby appearance. Good musculature allied to some strong angulation inevitably translated into a good movement action, with an even pace and stride. A little lively in the ring and a bit vocal, but once settled gave a good account of herself.

Class 411 Bouvier Des Flanders open (1 entry, 0 absent)

1st Jones’ Nikolaev Roussanne at Abbiville. 4 ½ yr old bitch. Solidly made with good depth and breadth of chest. Head and neck of pleasing proportions, into well constructed body, with good substance. Excellent, outgoing temperament and moved out well with free flowing movement. BoB.

Dobermann

 Class 423 Dobermann Puppy (4 Entries 1 absent)

1st Hickling’s Sueta’s Black Widow at Evalesco. A close run thing between 1st and 2nd, who turned out to be siblings, this superior bitch was really well constructed. Four square shape, arrow straight topline with gentle slope. Typical wedge head with pleasing expression. Really well coordinated on the move with a flexible and easy movement for one so young. BPIB and Puppy Group 1. 2nd Brough and Mycrofts Supeta’s Scarlet Witch for Aniiraz. Sibling of equally high quality, and many of the aforementioned qualities also apply. To my eye at least, she was just not quite so well co-ordinated on the move. 3rd Boulton’s Aritaur Roulette Red

1st Hickling’s Sueta’s Black Widow at Evalesco. 2nd Brough’s Aniiraz Ajax the Greater 17mth old junior dog. Good size and substance and with a good head. At the moment, his topline is not quite straight with a slight deviation, but he moved out well with a strong driving gait. 3rd Boulton’s Aritaur Roulette Red

Class 425 Dobermann Post Graduate (2 entries, 0 absent)

1st Cannon’s Sacaria’s Blues JW Good sized chunky male, but everything well balanced and in proportion. Nicely featured head, good depth and rib, and well angulated. As expected from his conformation, moved freely with a rhythmic cadence and easy, free flowing style. Hickling’s Sueta’s Black Widow at Evalesco

1st Brannan, Mycrofts and Brough’s Supeta’s Playing With Fire Avec Aniiraz. 2 ½ yr old bitch. Well proportioned and good conformation giving a very good outline and correct angles. I liked her head and expression, she was well schooled and moved freely around the ring. BOB.

1st Smith’s Comfortcove Pixie Dust. She may have stood alone, but that didn’t detract from her quality. Well shaped bitch with good angulation and conformation. Good head and expression, well laid shoulders and a level topline. She moved out with aplomb. BOB & Working Group 2.
