Coalville & District Canine Society

Coalville & DCS - Saturday 10 January 2026

Thank you to the officers and committee of this society for my invite to judge their popular show. I was very much looking forward to this appointment which had quality and quantity. Everything was kept running by clockwork by my two very able stewards Kim and Ola, and I am most appreciative for this.

1ST Cloudside Black Hawk (Mr W Moore)

What a way to start my day judging by getting my hands on this stunning young male. At just 11 months this black and tan is masculine with a super temperament. Stacked he presents an eye filling image with a balance and clean outline. He is well bodied, a super shape and has an excellent topline. I liked his head which is correct for his age and he has a nice dark slanting eye. His neck is long and strong and he carries it proudly when moving as if he is surveying his ringside admirers! He is so well built and portrays the image of power and strength. As wonderful as he is when standing, it is not until he moves that he really comes in to his own where he powered round the ring with a smooth and springy effortless action. As the day went on he only became better and I had no hesitation in awarding him BP, BOB, Hound Group 4 and Hound Puppy Group 1.

1ST Shimalma Drambuie Isjulees (Mr M Drage)

5 Year old cream male. A real classic type of Afghan Hound who presented as being aloof and haughty. I loved his masculine head with dark eye and low set long silky ears. He has a good neck which leads to well laid shoulders. He has good bone for his build and a level back of moderate length. Displaying correct prominent hip bones, his fall away is pleasing and leads to a nicely set tail. He could not match the BOB winner on movement today. RBOB.

Basset Griffon Vendeen (Grand) Open

1ST Ch Jayanel Peppermint Patty (Miss C L Cooper)

A 5 Year old tricolour bitch who is the ultimate showgirl. She didn’t put a foot wrong and could move all day long. Absolutely fit for function with a well ribbed body, capacious chest and hard muscles. I liked her for size, shape and balance. Her head is pleasing with low set ears and domed skull. She held a firm topline as she moved out nicely. BOB.

1ST Greyflax Edward at Anstyarna (Mrs S E Gilbert)

This very gentle and friendly bitch is definitely one for the future. At just 18 months old she has plenty of promise and needs to mature as would be expected. I loved her head which was long and with gentle dark eyes. Stacked she presents a lovely image with a clean outline and a nice arch over her leading to a well dropped tail. BOB

1ST Southpoint Absolut at Highwick (Imp Prt) (Mrs K Harrison-Stratford)

This strongly built red baby of just 8 months presented a really wonderful image. I loved her type, size and shape. She is feminine whilst remaining powerful. She has such a pretty head with a long flat skull and the correct slight stop. I loved her chiselling and felt she was really lovely to go over. Her front assembly is so correct with a good depth of chest and fill. Stacked she is very appealing but I felt it was on the move where she can really show off her attributes, moving out with minimal effort and covering so much ground. She is ultra sound and has a beautiful low reach in front. BP

2ND Estet Classic Sherwood Adventures (Imp Est) (Miss K M Bakewell)

This 11 month old red brindle male was a different type to 1. This sweet boy has the most endearing of temperaments and a melting expression with his dark, bright heart warming eyes. He is masculine with lovely pigment and a strong jaw. I liked his balance and clean outline with a nice long and strong neck and really like his underline too. His tail set is good and his croup correct.

1ST Inchydoney Memories Une Virgin Mary avec Stonelow (Imp Fra) JW ShCEx (Ms H Sawyer)

I loved the athleticism of this fawn bitch of 2 years. Shown in super muscle and condition which really showed on the move where she was so incredibly sound and true coming back and going away. She is a lovely size with good bone and build, yet remains feminine. I liked her shoulders which were clean and she has a rather lovely long, strong neck. Her head is a nice shape with beautiful fine, rose shaped ears. To pick, I would prefer a darker eye, but it was in line with her coat colour so did not spoil an otherwise lovely image. RBOB.

1ST Ch Southpoint Niemeyer at Highwick (Imp Prt) (Mrs K Harrison-Stratford)

Wow what an upstanding quality male that I was thrilled to get my hands on. At 3 years of age this masculine boy is the finished article. He caught my eye upon entering the ring and did not disappoint when I went over him. His strength, presence and quality can not be overlooked and he really does present a lovely balanced image when stacked. I loved his elegant curves which were correct and highlighted a super outline and lovely underline. His masculine head is nicely shaped of long and moderate length, good eyes and super rose shaped ears. His neck is long and strong, leading to well laid shoulders and an overall clean image. On the move he is so impressive and a wonderful reach in front, excellent drive and was a complete joy to watch. He is so true and I simply love his long and slow stride. BOB & Hound Group 3.

2ND Westview Puddles (Miss H & Mr G Prince & Ballentine)

This sweet 7 year old brindle bitch is a totally different type of Greyhound to 1. She is ultra feminine and has a super temperament being gentle and so calm. This girl is so elegant with graceful curves and was shown in super condition and unsurprisingly was so well muscled. I liked her head which has a nice, bright eye, flat skull and slight stop. She really made me smile and I would love to see her running free on the track!

1ST Norvin Krackjen (Mr N Cuss)

This 2 year old handsome male exudes an energetic disposition and I loved his attitude, unafraid to tell his handler exactly what he thought! My notes say “charismatic boy” and I think this sums up his lovely temperament. He is a masculine boy and was shown in good coat and presented well. This boy presents a nice overall package and has a lovely head with a nice eye and expression. I liked his depth of chest, ribbing and forechest and I felt he had an excellent topline, tailset and carriage. He moved out well. RBOB

1ST Norvin Orkla (Mr N Cuss)

Another lovely male from this kennel. This, a 4 year old who presented a lovely eye filling picture. He too, was full of character and appeared to be thoro

ughly enjoying his time in the ring. His head is handsome with a lovely eye and he used his high set ears well. Shown in good condition, he was presented well. His neck was a nice length and clean from throatiness. He has good forequarters, depth of chest and ribbing. He has a firm topline which he also held on the move. I particularly liked his well angulated rear which he used to power him round the ring. Pipped the PG winner on profile movement today. BOB

Rhodesian Ridgeback Puppy

Entries 4 Absentees 1

A super class with all 3 puppies showing great promise.

1ST Delianza She’s Timeless (Mrs K L Barker)

This 6 month old bitch was the most ‘together’ on the day for me. She has a lovely clean outline, which emphasised her strong neck, shoulders and topline. Her head is feminine, of fair length and with a powerful muzzle. Her overall appearance presented a strong, athletic hound without being overdone in any way. She has good bone for her age and built and particularly liked her well set tail which she carried correctly. Her rear angulation is good, with a nice turn of stifle and strong hocks. I will watch her progress with interest and hope that she continues to develop nicely. BP, RBOB & PG2.

2ND Kiromol Ain't Misbehavin (ai) (Mr P, Mrs E & Mrs L Storey & Piehl)

Another lovely young bitch who was a different type entirely than 1. Just 7 months in age, this feminine girl had a slightly deeper stop than 1 and a very pretty expression. She is a beautiful mover and was very free striding, moving out well. I really liked her front construction where she has an excellent depth of chest, nicely sprung ribs and strong forelegs. She too has a nice outline with good substance. Another who I feel will have an exciting show career.

3RD Carlincox Laters Taters (Mr M Akers)

Rhodesian Ridgeback Junior

Entries 3 Absentees 1

1ST Africaner Sundown (Mrs S & Mr D Lloyd Jones)

Large masculine male, who has substance and bone whilst possessing a look of athleticism. He has a pleasing topline, nicely set croup, tailset and carriage. His head is a good shape with a flat skull, well defined stop and the correct amount of wrinkling. His eye is a good shape and the correct shade for his colouring. His pigment is nice and dark and he has a strong muzzle with a good jaw. I liked him on the move where he strode out with purpose. He was handled beautifully to really get the best from him.

2ND Bikquest Sunshine Ember (Mrs N Nevison)

This 13 month old red wheaten bitch did not have the maturity of the class winner and I would have preferred a better turn of stifle which would have helped her to have a more pleasing topline. She was shown in super condition with the most gleaming short, dense coat. I did like her tailset which was set nicely and allowed correct tail carriage. Her pigment is dark and complimented a nicely shaped head. Her ears are medium sized and set high.

Rhodesian Ridgeback Post Graduate

A very close decision between the first 3, with the winner just stealing it on ‘filling’ my eye with an excellent appealing outline.

1ST Priorpark Pragmatist (Mr G Dennis)

This boy was so well balanced and his clean outline really showed off his excellent neck, great depth of chest and lovely turn of stifle. I loved his head which was the correct shape with a round, bright eye. He is constructed so nicely which allows him to free stack well. His topline is held well and he has a good amount of bone for his build. He is masculine and powerful without being overdone in any way. I particularly liked his tidy underline, well set croup and correct ridge. On the move he was rather effortless and used his power well.

2ND Carlincox Knock Em Off (Mrs K Akers)

This red wheaten bitch presented a nicely feminine picture. At 20 months she is now maturing and has some nice virtues. I particularly liked her excellent topline which she held on the move and emphasised her powerful back. She also has a strong loin, good underline and beautiful long, strong neck. Her movement was good and she had a super temperament.

Rhodesian Ridgeback Open

Entries: 12 Absentees: 5

1ST Ch Priorpark Proof in Pudding JW (Miss H Parsons)

This bitch was everything I was looking for today and caught my eye upon entering the ring. At just over 2 years of age she is a super example of the breed. Stacked she filled my eye with a super, clean outline, excellent long strong neck and firm topline. I liked her angulation, size and shape. She presents a very feminine but strong all round image and has lovely proportions. Her head is lovely with a very pretty expression, high set ears and a strong muzzle. Naturally she stands correct covering a good amount of ground, has good bone and very lovely compact feet with well arched toes. As lovely as she looks stacked, she really came in to her own when she strode out freely using her well muscled quarters. She is foot perfect, sound and looks like she could move all day long. Her athleticism showed when she moved as well in the group and I had no hesitation awarding her Hound Group 2 in very strong competition. BOB & Grp 2.

2ND Ch Carlincox Pure Gold JW ShCEx OSW (Mr C & Mrs L & Mrs V Cox & Cox & Musgrave)

A smaller bitch than 1st who was also a very feminine and nicely shaped exhibit. Full of quality and shown in great condition. She has an attractive head with a good round eye and well set ears. Her outline completely flows and looked particularly nice when she was stacked. She has an elegant neck which is completely free from throatiness and is nicely constructed throughout. She stands on good feet, which are compact and she has the correct amount of bone. On the move she was purposeful and animated though I did prefer the front action of the winner today.

1ST Heart & Soul Jp Northern Dancer at Classicus (Imp Jpn) (Mrs M E Sanders Parker)

This elegant cream Saluki puppy caught my eye as soon as he strode out effortlessly upon entering the ring. He is so eye catching and at just 10 months old shows great promise. He is a super shape with graceful curves which emphasise his lovely clean outline. He is balanced with a nicely shaped head, dark oval eye and long ears. He feels such a quality dog to go over and has well set shoulders, straight forelegs and good bone. He is very true on the move and has a beautiful smooth action. Reserve Best NSC, beaten by his litter sister who is just more ‘together’ at this stage in their development.

2ND Ersebrayer Lagavulin cum Anstyarna (Mrs S E & Mr A Gilbert)

A 7 month old Irish Wolfhound youngster who has a beautifully shaped head, dark oval eye and nicely shaped fine ears. She has excellent bone and substance for her age and is a lovely size and shape. Her outline is clean and she presents a nicely balanced overall image. Her movement was a little unsettled today, but she shows great promise when she finds the confidence.

1St Heart and Soul Jp Nashwa Classicus (Imp Jpn) (Mrs M E Sanders Parker)

Litter sister to the NSC Puppy class winner and she too is an exceptional prospect. She has the most stunning head which is long and narrow, with a rather dignified expression. Her eye shape is super being large, oval and dark, and her pretty feminine head is framed by long well set ears. She has good bone for her build and I loved her size and overall shape. Her curves are graceful and her topline is clean. She really comes in to her own on the move where she effortlessly flowed around the ring with a delightful low reach in front. A definite star of the future. Today she beat her brother for Best NSC and Best NSC Puppy as I felt she was more together as would be expected in this breed at this age. Later awarded Puppy Group 3 in strong competition.

2ND Cairnstorm Lullaby (Mrs A T Crosse)

Irish Wolfhound bitch of 14 months. I really liked her type and she has good substance and bone for her age. Her head is a super shape being long and with a good length of muzzle. She has good pigment, super ears and a sweet expression expression. Stacked she presents a nice image with a firm topline, nice underline and an excellent depth of chest. She stands on good feet and has fantastic pasterns. She felt good to go over but I would prefer neater elbows to compliment an otherwise lovely picture. On the move she was powerful and free striding.

1ST Amenediels Eyes On The Prize with Zantescwtch (Mrs K Mcloughlin)

3rd in NSC Junior and unlucky to meet the 2 ahead of her, this 15 month old Bavarian Mountain Hound looked quite the picture with her smart handler. She is presented to perfection and shown in super condition. This feminine hound has a lovely outgoing temperament and she showed her socks off today. She has a lovely clean outline with shows off her nicely shaped strong neck and good topline. Her eyes are dark and she has a good expression. On the move she is animated and covers the ground easily.

1St Ch Carlincox Pure Gold JW ShCEx OSW (Mr C & Mrs L & Mrs V Cox & Cox & Musgrave)

A beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback bitch who presented a lovely balanced image. Not looking her 7 years in away, this feminine girl is very balanced and lovely for size and shape. She impressed me in outline and has a very nice head with a strong muzzle and kind expression. Her bone is good and she was so incredibly free moving, stepping out with a long stride. Handled well and shown in excellent condition. What a credit to her owners

 2ND Kiromol Mandolin Wind (Mr P, Mrs E & Mrs L Storey & Piehl)

Another lovely Ridgeback bitch, this a wheaten girl and a similar age to 1st. This girl was a very different type to the class winner and I could have watched her move all day long with her effortless movement and freedom of action. She too has a wonderful clean outline, excellent angles and a nice depth of chest. I loved her tailset and carriage. She has a super head with a nice expression.

3Rd Redcap Northern Lights over Alandobel VW (Mr A & Miss A Keepence & Keyte)

Overall

G1 Ch Rossut Zavier at Sandylands, Breed: Beagle (Mrs E Jayes)

This 3 year old tricolour Beagle presents a balanced and very smart image. One I have not seen before, but was thrilled to have the opportunity to judge. At this stage in maturity he is now the full package and oozes quality. His head is masculine, well shaped and complimented by the most attractive, appealing expression. His eye is dark and nicely shaped and his leathers set low which adds to his appeal. I loved his clean neck which lead to very well set shoulders and his front is well constructed with a deep chest and well sprung ribs. He has a very level firm topline both stacked and moving and he stands on nicely shaped firm, tight feet. On the move he excels where he was free striding and used his powerful rear to drive him around the ring. His footfall is perfect and he has a long low stride which was a pleasure to see. He is presented and handled to perfection and has a super temperament to boot! I was delighted to award him the group today and sure his success will continue.

Presented nicely, he appealed to me in type and has the correct amount of bone, good pigment and a really lovely tail set and carriage. He moved out well and looked a picture in profile, holding his topline and reaching forward nicely. I will watch his show career with interest.
