Breed: Chinese Crested

Many Thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge the Chinese Cresteds and to my stewards for keeping everything running smoothly. What a glorious day we had, with the sun shining and a great atmosphere.

1st – Be My Dog’s Orla Basta at Cacodom (Dame J T Watson)

An absolute sweetheart. A striking 10-month-old black and white Hairless bitch, completely elegant and petite as they should be. Presented in fantastic condition. She has a beautiful headpiece, refined and elegant, with correct proportions throughout. Her eyes are slightly round but beautifully dark. Bite OK. Large, erect, flaring ears, correctly set and used to her advantage. She has good length of neck flowing into well-laid shoulders with sufficient angulation. Nice depth of chest for one so young. Her silhouette is beautiful, with good tuck-up, strong ribbing, excellent length of loin and overall balance. Sufficient rear angulation with a good turn of stifle and a well-muscled rear. Tail correctly set and carried.Once settled, she moved completely parallel in all directions. She raised her game in the challenge and, on the day, I could not deny her (BOB) and (BPIB). Congratulations, treasure her; she is a little poppet.

1st – Karamouche Pandamonium JW

(Dame J T Watson)

A striking and flashy 18-month-old black and white Powder Puff dog, presented in gleaming condition with a superb temperament. Up to size for my personal preference. Correct head proportions with sufficient pigment to give the desired expression, complemented by beautiful dark eyes and perfect dentition. His ears are well set, though I would prefer them to be stronger. He has a good arch of neck and a satisfactory front assembly, although he would benefit from more forechest and depth to improve front movement accuracy. Strong ribbing throughout, though a slightly longer loin would improve overall balance. His topline is rock-solid and level, maintained throughout. Well-muscled behind, with excellent angulation and low hocks that enabled him to drive around the ring with purpose. His tail is perfectly set, which is particularly pleasing to see in a Powder Puff. In the challenge, however, I preferred the overall balance of his kennel mate.

2nd – Zerachiel Fur Comb Hall

(Miss A Simms)

A 23-month-old sable Powder Puff bitch, feminine throughout. I must commend her young handler on her excellent presentation and handling skills, it is clear that these dogs adore her. She has a refined headpiece with pleasing proportions, although I would prefer slightly less round eyes. Perfect scissor bite. Good arch and length of neck, with shoulders fitting tightly to the chest and reasonably well laid back. Another exhibit with good ribbing; however, for my preference, she would benefit from a slightly shorter loin to improve overall balance. Her coat is a true veil, which was delightful to see, and with maturity she will look quite different. Rear angulation is sufficient, although she is somewhat higher in hock, which affected her rear movement. She moved accurately in front. When stacked, she displayed a completely level topline, though she tended to lose this on the move today, which cost her the class. Tail correctly set and constantly wagging, you can tell she is quite a character.
