Many Thanks to the committee of Sedgefield And District Agricultural and Horticultural Society for inviting me to judge the Cavalier King Charles for the first time. And to my lovely steward Chris for keeping the ring running smoothly at all times. 

Class 57 – Junior

1st – 112, Wilson, Miss K & Mrs E A, Kringleholme Wanderin Star

9 Month Old Blenheim Dog, Shown today in fantastic condition with just enough coat for his age. Masculine, with a flat skull and traditional head shape. Shallow stop, dark, round eyes with fantastic pigment, giving a lovely expression. Perfect dentition. Ear feathering is coming in beautifully. Lovely deep chest for one so young, with correct ribbing and a good rib-to-loin ratio. Lovely cushioned feet. Sufficient angulation both front and rear, allowing him to move around the ring with purpose and remain parallel from all angles. Tail was carried well at all times. A very promising young dog and a worthy BPIB.

2nd – 102, Hood, Dr M & Mr P, Alsidewood Imitation

9 Month Old Black & Tan Dog, Another puppy showing heaps of promise. Shown today in gleaming coat. Beautiful head and expression, with a flat skull, dark eyes and great ear fringing. Chest not yet as deep as 1, however there is sufficient angulation front and back. Shoulders were neat and well set, with a well-muscled rear which allowed him to drive around the ring. Today, I just preferred the overall balance of 1, with 2 being slightly higher on the leg. With time, as he comes into his own and matures, I am sure there will be little to separate them. Tail carriage was good, if just a little gay at times.

Class 58 – Post Graduate

1st – 104, Kynaston, Miss K, Granasil Ovaltine JW

3 Year Old Ruby Dog, He is all male! Masculine yet soft expression, with beautiful dark eyes set well into his flat skull. Beautiful proportions to his headpiece. Well-furnished ears, enhancing that lovely expression. Perfect bite.Good length of neck leading into a beautiful deep chest. Shoulders are bang on, tight to the body with correct layback. Completely balanced in body, with correct ribbing and a spirit-level topline. Correct, cushioned feet. Drove around the ring from his well-muscled rear, with super-strong hocks and a cracking turn of stifle. Tail was carried spot on too. A close contender for my BOB; I just preferred the eventual BOB for his overall size.

2nd – 103, Hood, Dr M & Mr P, Rabymar New York AWB

4 Year Old Ruby Dog, Another which you can see is all male! Much of the same comments apply from 1st place, being very similar in make and shape. Cracking head, deep chest and completely balanced throughout. Moved accurately both ways. His tail carriage, for me, was just a little too high and this cost him the class today.

Class 59 – Open

1st – Walker, Miss A, B, Stavonga Sky Walker Kayceekay JW OSW ShCEx

5½ Year Old Blenheim Dog, Beautifully marked Blenheim dog with another beautiful, traditional, masculine headpiece. Flat skull, shallow stop and dark, round eyes. Ears set correctly and furnished beautifully, enhancing that enchanting expression. Dentition good.Good reach of neck leading onto shoulders that were well set onto his deep chest. Correct running, short-coupled body with the perfect tail set.Best rear mover of the day strong, well-muscled and completely parallel. He looked a picture going around the ring with his spirit-level topline.I found many similarities to him in my BPIB winner and was delighted to award him BOB.

2nd – 109, Nichol, Mrs C, Chantismere Finnegan

7½ Year Old Blenheim Dog, Another well-marked Blenheim, a touch larger than 1 but still presenting a well-balanced outline. Good bone, masculine head with excellent pigment, adequate neck, level topline and well-set tail. Moved well, with plenty of exuberance, enjoying his day out!
