12th July 2026

Thank you to the committee of Durham County Canine Society for the invitation to judge the open show. I am always honoured to judge my breed. The weather was kind, given it had been super hot that week and although the ground a little uneven it was a good-sized ring for the exhibits to move out. I was really pleased with my entry and had some super dogs to go over. I was happy with my top awards and thank you all for taking the decisions gracefully.

Puppy (2 ent)

Two very promising puppies, hard to split them both and later to find out they are litter sisters. In my placings I preferred the overall substance and head of first place although I am sure they will swap places many times in the future. I wish you lots of luck with them both.

1st ENGLISH’S Annicia Miracle – 7 month old bitch. Really pretty expression, with dark almond shaped eye giving a calm gaze. She has adequate width across the skull for a youngster with correctly placed ears sitting close to the cheeks. Excellent length and width to muzzle. Correct dentition and dark pigmentation. From side profile makes a super shape, clean well-placed shoulders, on strong straight forearms, slightly sloping pasterns and good feet. Correct 9 to10 proportions, slightly sloping croup and carries tail well. Good angles fore and after. Excellent topline and underline – topline held well on the move. Moved out nicely for a youngster. Well-marked with nice rich tan. Pleased to award BPIB.

2nd LAMBERT’S Seittor Annicia’s Destiny – 7 month old bitch. Again one with a pretty expression just lacking fill under the eye from 1st place. Good width across the skull with correctly placed ears fitting close to the cheeks. Good length and width of muzzle. Correct dentition and dark pigmentation. Again side profile makes a super shape with correct 9 to 10 proportions. Good angles front and back, strong straight forearms with sloping pasterns and correct feet. Moved out nicely for a youngster holding topline well. Carries tail well. Slightly more sooty on tan.

Junior (0 ent)

Post Graduate (3 ent, 1 abs)

1st ENGLISH’S Annicia Night Sky – 2 year old bitch. Very nicely balanced girl. Clean headpiece, preferably would like a little more strength to head but non the less feminine and gives a sweet expression. Dark almond shaped eye. Good length and width to muzzle. Enough width across the skull with correctly fitting ears close to the cheek. Correct dentition and mottled mouth pigment. Strong neck with clean withers, stands on strong forearms with sloping pasterns, toes a little open. Would prefer slightly more substance yet, correct 9 to 10 proportions and very evenly balanced front and back angles. Excellent topline and underline - topline held on the move. Carries tail well. Moved out nicely with reach and drive. A little sooty on tan markings. Pleased to award BOB.

2nd BURTON’S Eyredazzle Red Ruby At Rottiehause – 22 month old bitch. Carrying slightly a little too much weight today. Correct dark almond shaped eye. Good width between the skull, unfortunately flying her ears so not fitting closely to the cheeks as they should. A little short in muzzle with good stop. Correct dentition and dark mouth pigment. Strong neck onto strong forearms with correct sloping pasterns. Correctly angled front and rear, short in loin, yet slightly raised over the croup which becomes more evident on the move. Didn’t really want to move out today with her handler. Well marked with rich tan.

Open (3 ent, 2 abs)

1st FEATHERSTONE’S Kenxtween Sweet Diamond By Featherttor - 5 ½ year old bitch. Stronger in head than the other exhibits today. Dark almond shaped eye. Good width between the skull with correctly placed ears fitting closely to the cheeks. Good stop. Correct length and width of muzzle. Correct dentition and dark pigment. Overall a little too much excess skin on the headpiece. Well off for bone and substance. I would prefer a little more length of forearm and a little more strength to pasterns as this caused her to be a tad bum high on the move. Well angled rear. Carried tail well. Well marked clean rich tan. Slightly longer in loin than BOB winner.

2nd BURTON’S Eyredazzle Red Ruby At Rottiehause – 2nd in post graduate.
