Shih Tzu Club 18th October Open Show. 

What a wonderful day. Thank you to the officers and committee for the invitation and for looking after us so well today. Thank you to all the exhibitors that entered and for their enduring patience whilst 2 rings were running. I hope everyone in my ring had fun. Ably assisted by the effervescent Sean Matthews as my ring steward, thank you for keeping everything in order. I had some truly super exhibits today. I thoroughly enjoyed my day with the Shih Tzu Community.

Puppy Dog 2 of 2 

1. Tameron Mr Azzaro For Charonnis Black and white with correct markings, In good proportions, pleasing broad skull, round dark eyes, good width to the underjaw and muzzle, of good all round size, strong bone, needs to fill out yet, but the structure of width and breadth is there, arrogant carriage, clean straight front and rear, well laid shoulders and moderate neck. Tail set on correctly. Overall good for size. In super coat condition, nicely muscled for age, full of attitude. A pleasing silhouette in profile. BPD really upped his game to steal BPIS from the bitch, who is equally exquisite. Exciting puppy !

2. Jacquinta Black At With Shidizzle Black , another with a pleasing and masculine head, liked his eye and expression, balanced head, broad and round, good length of ear, moderate length of neck and laid shoulder, in good bone, pleases in fore chest and rib, level topline, good tail set and carriage when he chooses to, nicely muscled for age, clean heels, not as knitted as 1 across the front assembly, but yet to mature into that. Glimpses of arrogant carriage. Not as collected as the winner, but will come in time !

Yearling Dog 2 of 2

1. Schaubern Sean Dillion At Daltricia JW - Good for size, handsome head and eye, round skull, very arrogant expression and eye – dark and round, good mouth width and dentation. Well made throughout, moderate neck and laid shoulders, good bone, proportioned for height and length, level topline – sell set on tail and carriage. Straight front and rear well muscled, steady on his legs, definite purposeful strides, carries himself with aplomb. 

2. Ethelsmead Ripleys Game - In profile stood I thought this would be my class winner, really well made dog throughout, good for size, masculine but not over done, ample bone and is broad and deep, with a good length of rib, short loin, well muscled, strong fore chest. Head and eye are really shih tzu arrogant, broad and round dark eye, width to the jaw. Is so sound on his feet and with definite foot placement, tail set on correctly, lost this class purely because he didn’t want to carry his tail over and it spoiled his outline and carriage in profile. A shame. I hope that rectifies itself because he is a very honest dog to handle.

Novice Dog 3 of 3 

1. Rottshihpa’s Magnificent Madness ( Imp Nor) Top end of height for me, but so well put together, super construction on this boy, all boy but without exaggeration. Scores in head, level topline, sound movement, purposeful foot placement on the move, clean heels, strong drive, in good coat with good textured topcoat, moderate neck and well laid shoulders, level topline, well set on tail, in profile really carries himself with importance. Oh so arrogant head on.

Ethelsmead Friendly Ghost A smart dog in profile, well constructed, and a good head shape and size, nice muzzle and jaw strength, straight front and rear, nicely muscled, good length of rib and depth and width through the chest. A pleasing width to the body, short strong loin. Sound on his legs.

1. Thaisu Hot Topic At Marbo - Quality male, scores high in head, broad and round, super dark round eyes, good under jaw, strong muzzle and open nostrils, clean mouth. Onto a super front assemble with strong bone, good fore chest and rib, deep and wide and straight legs, well laid shoulders, level topline, tail set on high, straight rear- clean heels on the move, strong carriage coming and going, has a super outline stood. Balanced height to length, Definite and confident shih tzu movement, steady and sturdy, purposeful yet arrogant and graceful. Sound from all angles. 

2. Freakshow Opulence Above All At Snowshoes JW (IMP Esp ) A moderate overall shape and size, tail set on nicely and carried well, In super coat and well muscled, I would like more bone for a male and a more typical head type. Eye is dark and mouth is correct. Not as masculine as I would like.

1. Ethelsmead Bak To The Future Of Chanikos What an exquisite dog, screams shih tzu for me. Black and white and really ‘ old school’ as I expect to find this breed, So well made all through. Bone, depth width. Super lay of shoulder and moderate neck, arrogant head and eye, broad and round, strong jaw and mouth, Beautiful classic shape stood. Level topline and correct tail set and carriage - Straight front and rear – sound coming and going, bags of attitude and personality. Absolutely loved him ! 

2. Rossvale I Have A Dream JW another really classic male. Another with everything in proportion all through, masculine bone, balanced front assembly, strong level topline, muscled rear, moves himself with purpose and arrogance. Steady and solid, In good coat. His head is not overdone or too much . broad and round head, nicely balanced muzzle, ample jaw. An honest dog. Just a preference on the personality and expression for 1 today.

3. Peekin Reggie Rebel-Tu Nicely presented and put together all through. Nothing to fault in the major departments at all for this chap, but he doesn’t carry the bone and the strength of the first 2 for me, not as masculine as either. A pleasing head and expression and perfectly sound. Smart in profile.

1. Ch Santosha Memory Of Love Glorious mature male, he is so handsome and quietly arrogant, the distain of his expression shows, masculine and beautifully boned, a pleasing width to him, level topline, short strong loin and well set on tail, strong on his legs and really moves with purpose and grace, not exaggerated in any way and put down in glorious coat and condition. Expressive dark eyes, well set to his rounded skull, balanced muzzle, lovely dark round eye, good ear leather length . A nicely arched neck, set onto well laid shoulders, in excellent body condition. Best carriage in this class today.

2. Middletune Blazzin Saddles JW Another handsome and well made chap. A lot of the same applies as 1, unassuming, arrogant, well balanced all through, sound on the move, well muscled and in excellent coat and condition. Would like a little more bone though and not as clean through his shoulders as 1. 

3. Chanikos My Mystery Dream Via Javerda JW a third super male in this class, more of him than 1 and 2, and moved a little more hurried, so not as fluid and settled as the first 2. Pleases in head and eye and good underjaw, strong depth and breadth to his chest and rib, Straight front and rear, well-muscled and drives out, Preferred the overall outline of the first 2.

1. Marbo Whatever You Want : So Masculine, so arrogant in excellent coat and condition. Deep and broad and in super hard muscle condition. Straight front assembly and a clean line through the neck and shoulders onto a level topline and strong loin, well set on tail carried correctly. Beautiful mature head with all the attributes required. 

2. Forepaws Golden Warrior Another super mature male, with so much to like, he has bone and muscle in all the right places, sturdy with width and breadth, deep fore chest and strong legs, tail set on correctly. Carrying a little too much love from the kitchen department though, which spoils his gait and carriage. In a wealth of super coat, clearly loved and enjoying life. 

Special Trimmed/ Cut Down Dog 2 of 2 

1. Ch Daltricia Jack Higgins JW Sh CEx OSW Smart cut down male with super shoulders and neck, handsome and classic in head and eye. Well set ears, rounded skull On good legs, level topline and straight front and with muscle holding him all together, marches around like he owns the place and full of self importance. . Balanced throughout. 

2. Ethelsmead Half A Sixpence At Kengai another smart boy in his party suit. Pleases in head and dark eye, super expression, good width of jaw, nicely muscled across the body and rear, straight rear and good tail set and carriage. Would prefer him a little tighter in front assembly, but had good shoulder lay and width to the back and loin. Moves himself steady and sturdy, clean rear action . 

Minor Puppy Bitch 4 of 4 

 A mixed bag of little girls here, all different types.

1. Norboo Bellina - This girl was so feminine and so chrysanthemum in head, sparkly dark eyes, and has the makings of a smart adult. She had the nicest outline stood and tail carriage. A super front assembly and has depth and width for her age and for a female, sturdy legs, level topline and well set on tail carried over correctly. She is loose yet all though, but all the babies were and its to be expected, that said she was the most collected in carriage on the move today. Was content with her size for her age, she should mature nicely. 

2. Middletune Girl On Fire – Another super girl, little more leg than 1, but still constructed nicely and femininely, pretty eye , needs to settle through the shoulder yet, and carry her tail more consistently, but has width and bone through her chest, good length of rib and straight rear end. Gently and suitably muscled for age.

3. Coursani One In A Million ( ai) (imp gkc ) what a whizz bang. Really baby puppy that really needs to mature to come into her own, exquisite head and eye, so feminine and expressive. Bags of personality . Structure is all there to build on given time. 

4. Showshoes Squeeze Me. Another lovely baby, scores in front and rear and level topline , a little rangy on the move at the moment and not carrying her tail as she should, but that’s forgiven whist they are still so raw. Very promising though once she collects her carriage in time. 

Puppy Bitch 5 of 5 This was another strong class of girls. Nothing here to feel in disgrace of their placements at all, I was splitting hairs against maturity and body condition here and some of that will change as they all grow up and mature at their own pace. Super class.

1. Middletune Ribbons Of Fire In this class she had the best head, best lay of shoulders, fore chest and mouth. She is from the upper drawers and this shines through. Exquisite expression, totally shih tzu in shape and style, she oozes arrogant, with a dash of naughty, so sound on the move, carries herself like the next top model. She has ample bone and balance all through so feminine, but strong and sturdy and this girl has game ! presented immaculately in good coat and condition. Lost to the dog for Best Puppy by such slim margins and it was only the final go around where he just raised his game enough to steal it on carriage. Exciting puppy !

2. Jacquinta Moonlight Shadow a lovely girl with a super head and dark eye, good mouth another with that ample bone, width and breadth but feminine, she has clean reach and drive, carries herself soundly with no effort, lovely clean shoulders and topline, in good coat and condition coming together nicely. Just not quite the ‘ game on’ attitude of 1 today.

3. Ethelsmead Midnite In Paris Avec Coursani a third super puppy of quality, a picture in profile, pleasing in size and type, super balance and proportions all through , good length of neck onto good shoulders, pretty head and dark eye, pretty expression, the makings of good fore chest and rib coming along. Good mouth and jaw, super carriage, just not as settled as 1 and 2 in places on the move, but she will come on and challenge !

4. Snowshoes Easy Tiger To Ralphina – a smart puppy that just needs some time to grow up and settle into herself, her front assemble and width is so good, level topline and pleasing in rear, another feminine head with the shock look, dark eye and good muzzle. Pleasing mouth and overall expression. 

5. Honeyshuchun Greek Goddess a pretty girl, in a tough class, she too has a pleasing profile and a pretty head and eye, of good proportions yet to mature to her advantage. As she muscles and bodies up she will improve in carriage. Tail set and carriage are good, rear is straight and strong.

1. Shenleyvale Simply The Zest At Evieshu Exquisite head and eye, correct mouth and jaw width, well built all the way through, deep and broad in chest and rib, moderate length of neck and well laid shoulders and straight front. in good bone. Feminine and unexaggerated – level topline tail set on correctly. Strong rear and carries herself with aplomb and purpose . 

2. Shenleyvale Behind Orange Eyes another with a nice outline, good skull shape, dark round eye, definition to the stop and muzzle. Straight front well made, level topline, correct tail set and good drive to the rear – straight legs moderate neck length and arc, well muscled . Her carriage is arrogant and purposeful on the move, 

3. Mapimakastar Nadia Jol Rio pleasing girl with ample bone and width and depth, pleases in head and dark eye, strong jaw and chin, good width to the mouth and jaw. Sound in profile, covers the ground with purpose. In good coat. would like a shade less of her for a bitch overall.

1. Snowshoes Lady Penelope For Maili JW Stunning girl, fabulous head and eye, arrogant but wicked expression,in super full coat and condition. Real shih tzu expression, width to jaw and mouth. But without it being at all masculine. Loved the balance of this head, she has a super neck length and arc into well laid shoulders, strong straight front, deep through the chest and rib, well sprung to short loin, level topline, tail set on correctly and carried completely correctly with a super height and arc to it. Strong rear assembly muscled throughout, she looks super elegant and feminine but has all the body and power underneath. I think she could move all day long with the carriage and grace that she does. So pretty stood, classic outline and attitude, was so unlucky to meet the open bitch in the challenge who was just pipped her with professionalism. An exciting girl to own. Res BB & Res BIS

Mapimakastar Naila Jol Rio A nice girl to handle, she has the bone and the width the and the strength through her topline, straight front and rear and in good coat, tail set on nicely and carried over. Her head has a broad and round outline and she has strength to the chin, dark round eye and good ear leathers, she has a moderate length of neck and moves quite nicely in profile. I preferred the overall balance of 1 and 2 today.

1. Sassyshi So Beautiful Pretty and feminine head, dark eye, good mouth and jaw width, but delicate. Good neck length and shoulder placement, level topline, good tail set and carriage, moves on sound straight legs and with dignity and purpose, would like a little more width and depth across her chest to he elbows. Nicely muscled through and across the loin and handled sympathetically.

1 Miracey Miss Holly Berry JW Completely honest and not at all exaggerated in any way, balanced for bone throughout, good for size and length, so balanced. Sturdy and straight front and rear , good forechest and rib width and strength, strong level back and loin, clean tail set on and carriage, true on the move, classic shih tzu in outline, arrogant expression, round head with width to muzzle and jaw, is definite, steady and sound on the move. 

Limit Bitch 4 of 7 

1. Middletune Chantilly Lace : mature girl in super coat with correct top texture, so pleasing in head and eye, dark eye and balanced skull and muzzle, such an expression, good ear length, super neck to shoulder lay into a strong back and loin, tail set on well and carried correctly. She has good bone and muscle, has a pleasing outline stood and carries herself with grace and elegance on good straight legs, clean heels with drive but not overdone or too quick. 

2. Lyndatzu Truly Scrumptious another super bitch in a wealth of coat, she has depth and breadth , straight front legs, nice length of rib, short loin muscled rear, tail set on and carried correctly, She is sound away and back, not as important in carriage as 1 in profile. But still sturdy and definite with her foot placements. 

3. Valkiria Sweet Addict For Maili JW (Imp Pol) A pretty bitch that gave a good account of herself, she is nicely and elegantly put together and there is lots to like, She has a pretty head and expression and carries herself with elegant and purpose and is totally sound. My preference of 1 & 2 purely the width and depth they had comparatively over her.  

4. Chanikos Harper Seven At Evieshu JW 

Open Bitch 4 of 5 a class of worthy champions you can see why they all are.

1. Ch Thaisu Fallen Angel Among Kimevan Glorious. For me is the epitome of a shih tzu, not overdone at all, she is so feminine, yet warrior like, balanced bone all over, not too much anywhere, the most beautifully arrogant and dismissive eye and expression super width to the mouth and underjaw, fore chest, and rib is deep and broad and sit nicely through her front assembly, straight strong leg, well laid shoulder and balance of neck, strong topline and loin, tail set on and carried with the correct arc and tail hair not too heavy, a wealth of correct coat falls across her topline and straight muscled rear. She is graceful, yet definite in her carriage and movement and returns with her nose in the air with importance. Just loved her. BB BIS 

2. Ch/JSY Ch Coursani Sand Queen (gkc) Another arrogant girl with everything to like about her, as much to say of her as 1, in hard condition and true and sound in profile. Super outline and with width and strength, she too is in glorious coat and has that arrogance in her head and expression from the front that defies you to walk away. My preference was carriage of 1 today who was a more fluid from the rear, and more enthusiastic. I’m sure these girls battle and swap places a lot, both beautiful 

3. Ch Middletune Modesty Blaise JW a third glorious girl, built so correctly in all aspects, carries herself with dignity and elegance. She is well muscled and in excellent coat and condition, not enough of her width ways compared to the girls ahead of her, but that is just my preference.

4. Ch Peekin Hoi-Tee-Toi-Tee-Tu

1. Ch Middletune Flame Of Gold Another super girl from this exhibitor. In glorious hair, well made through and in super body and muscle condition for her age. She floats on her legs with no effort and carries herself as if she is the only one that matters. Arrogant head, nicely balanced muzzle and skull, eyes and in proportion to her skull, lovely line of neck into her shoulders which lay across well, into her front assembly. Drives from the rear.

2. Santosha Ice Queen Of Coursani another beautiful mature girl, she too is in glorious coat and condition, hats of to both exhibitors for keeping these full coats so well. Another with good bone and width feminine and not overdone, balanced head and dark eye, pretty in outline stood, didn’t carry herself with the same importance and attitude as 1 today, a little reticent on her legs, but still true and sound.

3. Amore Mio Satinel Reheto At Mapimakastar VW (Imp Pol) An imposing outline to this nicely made girl, a little more of her than 1 & 2. She is in good coat and well muscled straight front and depth through the chest with ample spring . Level topline and strong straight rear. She is quite strong in head and eye, a little much for me comparative with 1 and 2 .

1. Elzu Ebony and Ivory : Black and white – sweet 9 yr old, free moving on her legs, balanced overall shape, dark eyes, width to her jaw and muzzle , ample bone with a good forechest and rib, strong rear muscle, tail set on nicely, sound for her age on the move, has pleasing reach and drive. Gave a good account of herself. 

2. Cedarhythe The Rumours Darlin At Kengai Pretty girl with a dark eye, nice round skull and width to her muzzle , moderate length of neck and pleasing lay of shoulder, straight front, good depth and spring of rib and strong loin . tail set on nicely and carried over. Quite sound In profile.
