If Carlsberg did Limit Dog Shows…
With massive thanks to Sylvia Gibson as the outgoing secretary and James Taylor as the new secretary and all the committee for this invitation. What a wonderfully welcoming and well thought through show. Lovely venue, amazing food, smiles all round and even a little sunshine made the day a thoroughly enjoyable one. Special touches made this show stand out for me, especially the individual photos of class placings in the ring for exhibitors. I was pleased that the vast majority of exhibitors took my choices in the spirit they were made and even a few came for a chat and said thank you afterwards which is always very welcome.
AVNSC Veteran (6,2)
1st Locheil Stop Right There VW
8yr old JRT whose attitude and charm shone through - would be equally at home in a younger class. Sturdy chap who stood four square to be gone over. Head good to handle, kind dark eye, excellent coat texture and moved evenly round the ring. A showman.
2nd Demerlay Charming Charlie
7yr old whippet. Charming by name, charming by nature. Presented a good overall balanced outline on the stand and move. Affectionate expression and well muscled. My notes say a close call.
3rd Tanglebrook Goldfinch
AVNSC Minor Puppy (3,1)
1st Skaijaks’s Make N’Mayhem
8mth Polish Lowland Sheepdog. B/W. All in proportion and with balanced angulation fore and aft. Head of correct ratios, decent stop. Correct eye. Compact body covered in decent texture coat. Moved with purpose – even strides. Coming together well. One to watch. Ultimately my BPIS.
2nd Callasiscroft Aurora Star at Hopewood
7mth Bracco bitch. Initially a little pensive to go over but definitely worth persevering. Will come with time and maturity. Noble head and bearing but retains femininity. Movement currently a little loose but just needs to come together.
AVNSC Puppy (2,2)
AVNSC Gundog Puppy (1,0)
1st Callasiscroft Aurora Star at Hopewood. 2nd from NSC Pup.
AVNSC Gundog Junior (1,1)
AVNSC Gundog Post Grad (3,1)
1st Ijildez Vom Holstef at Ovetil
2yr old GWP. Hardy bitch with excellent muscletone and correct coat. No doubt as to her ability to do her job. Stood a little upright in shoulder but moved evenly and well around the ring.
2nd Quensha’s Strawberry Swing
4yr English setter. A pretty bitch with head and body in proportion. Attractively marked. Low set tail. Would prefer a better jaw. Measured on the move.
Tough call between these two but my notes say judged against the ability to do their job. In my opinion.
AVNSC Gundog Open (3,1)
1st Quensha’s Strawberry Swing. 2nd from previous class.
2nd Speeton Sea Grace.
7yr old English Springer. Cobby sturdy bitch of good bone. Head correctly proportioned. Good lay of shoulder. Carrying a little excess weight which didn’t help her movement. Well kept coat.
AVNSC Hound Puppy (1,1)
AVNSC Hound Junior (0)
AVNSC Hound Post Grad (6,1)
1st Starceylon So This Is love
2yr old Whippet. Blue/White. Most even movement and balance of all in this large class. Not a fan of the cold wind and couldn’t wait to get back into her coat but managed to shiver gracefully. Long clean head, decent shoulder placement. Good nose pigment and nostril size. Body yet to drop. Moved elegantly and true. Good muscle.
2nd Harridachs Cherry Blossom
4yr min smooth daschund. Brown bitch. Head of pleasing proportions, Nicely shaped dark eye. Level topline, good forechest. Stood comfortably four square. Grass a little long to appreciate movement but she coped well.
3rd Flerrow Rydinds Romances
AVNSC Hound Open (5,1)
1st The Impossible Girl of Alchez
3yr Basenji bitch. My opening note says “Altogether a picture”. Beautifully balanced in profile. Flat skull with well set erect expressive ear. Slight wrinkle over. Clean cut muzzle, good strength of underjaw. Decent neck, level topline, balanced in angulation. High tailset. Could move all day and I could happily watch – she intrigued me. A change of handlers in BIS did not phase her and she took it in her stride, not dropping her nobility for a moment. BIS. Congratulations.
2nd Teckeltown Elton John
Min smooth tan/brown Daschund. Unlucky to meet the winner today Loved his head, masculine but not overdone. Good shape eye and correct ear set and size. Level topline held on the move. Good ground clearance. Shown well by his young handler.
3rd Batnoir Lady Victoria
AVNSC Terrier Puppy (1,0)
1st Tiltser Bergerac
7mth JRT – stocky male, balanced in profile. Expressive eye and ear, decent ribcage, holding a level topline on the stand and move. Well angulated. Correct tailset. Excellent coat texture. He had straight and true movement and I did like him very much. RBPIS.
AVNSC Terrier Junior (1,0)
1st Tiltser Take It To The Limit
15mth JRT male. A seasoned show dog who knew exactly what he was doing! He didn’t need his Dad, could have done it all by himself from start to finish! Carried himself well, sleeker dog all through than his younger kennelmate in previous class. Longer in body yet still all in proportion.
AVNSC Terrier Post Grad (1,0)
1st Dancing In The Dark at Robythorn
3yr JRT male. Broad flat head with wide set ears, lovely eye shape and colour. He had length to his body, balanced angulation with good rear muscle. Correct tailset . Moved evenly and pushed himself from the rear.
AVNSC Terrier Open (1,0)
1st Fast Love with Locheil ShCEx
6yr JRT. Lovely expression to this sturdy chap, almond dark eye with excellent pigment. Ears set closer to the top of his head. Decent neck, level topline, moderately angulated and moved evenly. Carrying a little excess weight at present.
AVNSC Utility Puppy (3,0)
1st Rowanpaws Royal Mint
11mth brindle French Bulldog. This young man is definitely ‘mint’. His name suits. Stood solid as a rock. Head of required dimensions, round eye correctly placed and well set mobile ears. Cobby strong neck, balanced in angulation and steady mover.
2nd Alisiane As Long As Ur Mine
6mth black standard poodle bitch who I was pleased to meet. Required dimensions giving the balance and elegance required of this breed. Feminine head, fine, with a decent fill beneath her eye. Length to neck, level topline, high tailset carried correctly. Apparently her first time out with her junior handler and did not disappoint.
3rd Exalon Dangerous Moonlight over Dageo
AVNSC Utility Junior (1,0)
1st Geeseco Devil in Disguise
16mth Boston Terrier bitch. Lovely Natural stance, balanced moderate angulation. Marked to advantage. Sweet well fitted eye, flat skull, ears wide set and pricked. Parallel forequarters when viewed from the front, slightly sloping topline into croup. Really liked the handlers’ attention to presentation, particularly the lead complementing the colour. At one with each other.
AVNSC Utility Post Grad (5,2)
1st Geeseco Devil in Disguise
Repeat
2nd Bandit King of Hammerbarn at Rowanpaws
3yr brindle French Bulldog. Masculine but not overdone. Head good to go over, kind well fitting eye showing no haw. Balanced proportions. Was not a fan of the grass so movement not his fortune today. Would be interested to see if different on hard standing.
3rd Rowanpaws Love Me Like You
AVNSC Utility Open (2,0)
1st Afterglow Show Us Yer Nuts Trandella JW
2yr Brown Toy Poodle. I liked this smart little chap very much and strongly considered him in my final shortlist. Lovely square profile, balanced in angulation with a good lay of shoulder and complemented by a propelling rear. Fine long head, good shape eye and with decent strength of underjaw. Well presented and moved out like clockwork.
2nd Rowanpaws Comet Star
3yr fawn French Bulldog male. Substantial head, excellent front and decent to go over. Not a fan of moving today, gave his mum a bit of a hard time.
AVNSC Toy Puppy (1,1)
AVNSC Toy Junior (1,1)
AVNSC Toy Post Grad (2,1)
1st Mirifico Tyrone with Ryeman
4yr L/C Chihuahua – tri. Well put together lad who on the move really did strut his stuff moving true away and back. Head correctly proportioned, dark eye showing no haw, expressive ears with fringe. Carried his tail proudly and gave me a little smile to myself.
AVNSC Toy Open (1,0)
1st Datiro Tigger Point
3yr Griffon bitch. Square in outline, very expressive and endearing. Open nostrils, ears set high to head and folded, further aiding sweet expression. She was a powerful mover who pushed herself round the ring from her long rear hocks.
AVNSC Working Puppy (1,0)
1st Lupacchiotto’s Street Cred by Lupinemoon
8mth Siberian Husky. Appealing male who took my eye. Stood alone and needed time to settle so moved him out first before going over. Not a fan of meeting me today which was a shame. Head proportions appeared correct, tight dark eye, chest and ribs needing time to develop and drop – currently a touch long in the loin. Stood on decent shape feet.
AVNSC Working Junior (2,1)
1st Taneven Dee Dee
17mth Rottweiler bitch who was so well behaved and happy to be in the ring. She practically smiled all the time she was there. Substantial head with skull/muzzle 50/50. Dark eye, good length of neck and decent lay back of shoulder. Good width to her front. Carrying a little excess weight which did not help her movement today.
AVNSC Working Post Grad (3,1)
1st Song Sudaa
22mth Bullmastiff bitch. My notes say ‘just something about her’. In a positive way! Flat skull, decent width to breadth. Good stop with a touch of wrinkling to her muzzle. Ears set high to head accentuating width. She had width to her front and balanced throughout. Measured movement and a noble stance when she gets her brain in gear.
2nd Aritaur Dyptique at Jagelka
2.5yr chocolate Dobermann bitch. Presenting a clean overall outline, chiselled head, high set ears, slight slope to her topline. Parallel front and well muscled rear. Exhuberant mover.
AVNSC Working Open (4,3)
1st Song Sudaa
Repeat.
AVNSC Pastoral Puppy (0)
AVNSC Pastoral Junior (2,1)
1st Norcis Algiz
12mth Blue Merle Australian Shepherd. Male. Overall balanced profile slightly longer than high as required. Head decent to go over, level skull/muzzle planes, dry fitting, required stop with correct fill under his eye. Moderate neck, well laid shoulder, balanced in angulation and comes into his own on the move. Power pushing from the rear and correct front footfall. Well presented. Another one who made me think in the final line up.
AVNSC Pastoral Post Grad (6,2)
1st Shannmie’s Dark Arches
2 ¾ yr rich sable Shetland Sheepdog. Understated but walked into, and then out of the ring my winner. All in proportion, he had beautiful almond eye set obliquely. Parallel head planes broken by a perceptible stop, strength to underjaw. Ears well placed to top of head, tipped and expressive. Balanced in angulation, length to body coming from the rib with firm loin. Gentle croup and set of tail which although happy and expressive, was still correctly carried. Fluid on the move. Made my cut and finally RBIS. Congratulations.
2nd Croftdougles Sassy Silleas at Karenshko
2yr Samoyed bitch. Shown in her bikini today but not hiding her balanced square profile and angulations. Head of decent substance yet retaining her femininity. Moved out and back straight and true.
3rd Ellhar Indian Squaw
AVNSC Pastoral Open (6,1)
A challenging class for me. I needed more red rosettes.
1st Skaijaks Last N’Luksurious
2yr cobby PLS bitch. A pleasure to watch this one move. On the go over she had correctly profuse coat of decent texture, hiding a knowing dark eye, big open nostrils, required short neck and balance to fore and aft.
2nd Ellhar Olga’s Princess
5yr old Pembroke Corgi rich fawn bitch. Pleasing head with correct size and set of ears. Good underjaw. Correct layback of shoulder, level topline and correct set of tail.
3rd Allmark One of These Days
AV Import Open (1,0)
1st Zventa Sventana Ya Perewinkle (Imp Rus)
5yr Xoloitzcuintle. A first for me! Very attentive to his Dad. Parallel head planes, broken by a moderate stop. Tight dark eye. A little fidgety on the stand and go over. His rear angulation pushed him round the ring but am convinced it was to escape the cold and get back into his pyjamas.
President’s Puppy Stakes (4,2)
1st Skaijak’s Make N’Mayhem
2nd Rowanpaws Royal Mint
President’s Open Stakes (12,5)
