CRITIQUE FOR THE NEWFOUNDLAND CLUB OPEN SHOW 11/07/2026

Firstly, thank you so much to the Club for giving the opportunity to judge this show and for the beautiful gift. Thank you also to all the exhibitors that entered. Special thanks to those that attended on an extremely warm day. The dogs and exhibitors managed really well, I tried my hardest to keep you in the shade whenever possible. 

I am so sorry to those affected by the incident of a stray dog and show trolley crashing through the ring, causing havoc during Open bitch. 

All dogs were shown in immaculate condition and all were handled really well with kindness, which is massively important.

Class one. Baby Puppy Dog or Bitch. 1 entry

1st. Oukaya Forever Big Dipper

White and Black male. 4.5 mths. Square muzzle, large black nose, lovely almond shaped dark eye. Good length of neck, well placed shoulder. Compact body with level topline. Well angulated hind quarters. Moved well coming and going. Coped really well with his day. Best Baby Puppy

Class two. Veteran Dog 2 Entries 

1st. Nurburgnewf Cayman

Black. 8 yrs old. Excellent condition with good coat. Correct scissor bite. Square muzzle, open nostrils, Dark eyes and well placed ears. Correct length of neck. Elbows set below withers and close to body. Correct tail length reaching the point of hock, good carriage. Moved well with drive. A credit to his owners. Best Veteran

2nd. Northpiers Non DucorDuco

White and Black. 8 yrs old. Lovely dark, well fitting almond shaped eye. Broad, short muzzle. Plenty of bone on straight front. Small ears good shape. Good topline maintained on move. Tail well set. Good rear angulation. Moved soundly. Shown in excellent condition. Not quite the width of chest as 1st

13 mths. Brown. Standard size. Square muzzle. Eye colour matched coat. Well placed shoulder, elbows close to body. Level topline to well set tail. Angulation OK. Moved soundly

1st Elgrandbear Razz Ma Tazz JW

Lovely 3 yr old black boy. Excellent balance. Well proportioned clean head. Well fitting dark eye. Well placed shoulder. Excellent bone on straight front to tight round feet. Good barrel of rib. Moved well. Shown in super condition and handled well.

1st. Disoranto Cool Hand Luke at Darkpeak.

 2yr old black male. Good type, well off for bone. Broad and square muzzle. Almond shaped , dark eye, well proportioned head, lovely expression Well set ears of good size, huge open nostrils on large nose. Correct length of neck. Compact body, well barrelled rib, tail set well into croup. Correct level topline and underline. Well angulated . Moved with reach. Slightly lifted tail above topline on the move. Res Best Male

2nd. Mileoak Utah Beach. Super balanced 2 yr old White and Black. Dark eyes , well placed ears. Balanced head broken with white blaze. Super length of neck. Very good bone on a straight front. Lovely level topline to well set tail that is carried well and is the correct length, reaching the hock. Good rib, well rounded stifle and well let down hocks. Moved with drive. Immaculate condition.

1st. Nandobears Yaba Dabba Doo at Mileoak

3yr old standard sized male . Beautiful in profile., lovely balance in body and head. Good Expression. Square muzzle, lovely ratio to skull. Good crown. Huge open nostrils, scissor bite. Lovely length of neck. Great level topline and underline. Well rounded rib of great depth to elbows. Excellent angulation on strong rear end with well let down hocks. Shown in excellent condition. Very sound coming and going. Best Male Best Opposite Sex

2nd. Valhalabears Jibber Jabber

Very well balanced male with lots of bone, excellent head proportions. Dark eyes giving kind expression. Ears well placed, a tiny bit long. Good Shoulder placement, correct level topline, maintained on the move. Good barrel of rib and depth of chest. A fraction longer than 1st. Moved with ease around the ring. Well presented.

1st Mississippi Missouri Walking My Angel

4yrs old. Super square muzzle with correct dentition. Dark well fitting eye. Well placed, small neat ears. Lovely straight front of good width. Compact body with level topline. Correct set and length to tail. Moved well coming and going.

2nd Bearhugs Carnegie

A little longer in the loins than 1, Good head qualities, deep and broad muzzle. Healthy eyes, Well placed ears Moved well. Shown in good condition

1st. Mileoak Wishing on a Star 

Balanced and very feminine . Lovely expression. Correct muzzle with correct stop .Dark eyes and scissor bite. Excellent bone on a straight front. Well ribbed body with correct depth to chest. Good topline. Very good angulation to rear. Dense double coat. Effortless movement coming and going, maintaining topline. Res Best Bitch & Res Best In Show.

2nd. Davistell Babee Love at Chriselkate.

Lovely in profile. Great substance. Clear dark eye. Nice skull shape with well placed ears. Good Length of neck to well placed shoulders. Barrelled rib. Lovely movement coming and going with correct tail carriage

Class Twenty Open Bitch

1st. Mileoak Loch Noir ShCEx

A picture of femininity , took my eye instantly. In all breeds the difference between males and females should be obvious, and this lovely bitch is so obviously a girl. Beautiful dark expressive eyes. Square muzzle with good balance to her skull and good crown. Ears well set , level with brow. Lovely length on a strong neck, down to a true straight front with the right amount of bone. Well angulated shoulder. excellent depth of chest reaching to elbows, that are placed just below the withers and kept close to the body. Well barrelled rib. Level topline to well set tail of correct length, carried well on the move. Moved with purpose and drive coming and going. Shown in super condition and handled well. Best Bitch and Best In Show.

2nd Ch Darkpeak Starlight Express.

Very close to 1 although a very different type. Super strong girl. Fabulous substance and balance. Lovely in profile. Strong head, good square muzzle. Dark almond shaped eyes expressive eyes. Great neck and shoulder angulation. Straight front with excellent bone. Super rib and depth to chest. Lovely topline. Sound coming and going moving with drive and reach, Shown in immaculate condition and expertly handled.

3rd. Valhalabears Just In Time.

This beautiful bitch was unfortunate to be affected by the dreadful situation when a large breed dog crashed through the ring dragging a show trolley, and out of control. I sincerely hope she recovers fully from this awful experience. Sadly, and understandably, she couldn’t fully settle after the incident. She is a beautifully balanced feminine brown girl. Lovely balance in the head , lovely kind expression. Good shape to mid brown eyes. Lovely length to strong neck. Super in outline. With level topline and underline. Good bone on a straight front. Well angulated hindquarters, settled enough on the move to appreciate her movement.

Well Balanced with excellent bone. Pretty female. Correct eye shape and colour for coat . Deep and broad muzzle. Well placed ears. Good length to strong neck. Well ribbed. Good level topline and tail set set within croup. Moved in a breed typical way. Spotlessly clean. Handled well.
