Smooth Collie Club Of Great Britain

Smooth Collie Club of GB 2nd May 2026

I would like to thank the committee for giving me the opportunity to judge Smooth Collies (Show 1) and to my ring steward who was very efficient in keeping the ring moving smoothly. I think the club should be congratulated on their achievement in running a dual show with such success. The happy atmosphere around the rings made for a very enjoyable day.

Thank you also to each exhibitor for the privilege of allowing me to go over your beautiful Collies and for your sportsmanship in accepting their placings I am truly grateful.

I was looking for a Collie who was “Fit for Function” I am satisfied I found this in my top winners today.

Class 1 Minor Puppy Dog - no entries

Class 2 Puppy Dog - (1/1)

Class 3 Junior Dog - (2/0)

1st - French A & Swann J - Breckamore Bobby Dazzler At Swanndale - 16mth S/W Really liked this young lad for his overall balanced shape very much in proportion. Masculine head of correct length and proportions ears well placed and used to his advantage. Strong well arched neck with a lovely length to his back. Moved with purpose in all directions just needs time to fill out and mature on when he does I am sure he will have a bright future.

2nd - Denton JM & RJ - Coldelee Take It To The Limit - 13 mth S/W

Another promising youngster who has such a sweet expression, lovely dark well placed eye, correct scissor bite well tipped ears. At present a little narrow in chest ample neck strong top line. Moved with drive in rear. Today I preferred the more elegant lines of winner.

Class 4 Post Graduate Dog - (2/1)

1st - Acford H - Coneypark Mattie Brown RL2 EX 2yrs S/W

Pleasing headpiece used his ears well, almond dark eye giving an alert expression. Strong neck, excelled in depth of chest plenty of heart room . Well muscled in thigh. One of the longest tails of the day. Very keen on the move plenty of drive from the rear a really nice lad will be interested to see him when he is fully mature.

Class 5 - Limit Dog - (3/1)

1st - Howe D - Lizoni The Drifter - 3yrs Tri

Nice wedge shaped head eyes well placed correct stop smooth through the cheeks would prefer more underjaw. Good front assembly and spring in rib. Steady on the move.

2nd - Metcalf A & S - Koczkodan Well I Never - 2yrs Tri

Finer in head, good eye placement and shape but a little light in colour. Super length to neck I liked his height to length ratio giving a pleasing outline. Moved really well going away. Difficult to separate these two but preferred the substance of class winner.

Class 6 - Open Dog (2/1)

1st - Seager E&L - Blamorder Magic Maker With Freejack JW 3yrs S/W

I was looking for a dog that was all male and this lad was exactly that. Superb head and expression so clean through the cheeks but still had the desired sweet expression. Neck well arched top line strong held well on the move. Nice front and rear angulation allowing him to move with ease around the ring with correctly carried tail. I have no doubt he could do the job he was bred for all day long. No hesitation in awarding him BD, RBOB.

Class 7 - Veteran Dog - (1/0)

1st - Hayward T&B - CH Foxearth Fletch 8yrs B/M

What a super veteran such a noble expression in superb condition a credit to his owner. Lovely wedge shaped head, well filled fore face, flat skull well set ears when he used them. Long neck flowing into best front assembly of the day. Well bent stifle neat hocks. Tail of correct length. Not the most enthusiastic mover but so correct in forward reach. Would loved to have seen him in his prime. Couldn’t deny awarding him RBD, VD, BVIB.

Class 8 - Minor Puppy Bitch (1/1)

Class 9 - Puppy Bitch No entries

Class 10 - Junior Bitch (2/0)

1st - Jerrett DL - Coldelee Busy Bein Fabulous - 13mths S/W

Very much a teenager who needs time to develope. Very feminine in head with the sweetest of expression. Correct height to length ratio giving a balanced outline. Good angulation in front and rear which allowed her to cover the ground well. I think she will no doubt have a bright future ahead of her.

2nd - Jefford S & Rixon S - Breckamore’s Eye Catcher For Wizzizz 16mth Tri

Another feminine girl who also has a lovely shape. Head developing nicely. Level top line with correct rise over the loin. Nice turn in stifle. Moved well in rear but was a little narrower in front at the moment. Coat was of correct texture I just felt there was a little too much white past the withers.

Class 11 - Post Graduate Bitch (1/1)

Class 12 - Limit Bitch (5/2)

1st - Davies-Brown G&M - Blamorder I Dreamed A Dream at Wystry JW 23mth Tri

Very feminine girl with a lovely clean wedge shaped head, well placed ears which served to give the desired expression. Really liked her overall make and shape although if I was being picky perhaps a little long in body. Good angulation which allowed her to move well especially from the side.

2nd - Proctor S - Mighty’s Spring Meadow Yeva Yuna At Stiosan (Imp SVK) 2yrs S/W)

Unlucky to meet No1 today another bitch who is well put together. Well balanced head correct stop and placed eye giving desired expression nice tight lip line scissor bite. Good length and strength in neck. I preferred her top line to No1 due to being more balanced in height to length ratio. Moved well around the ring with purpose and at one with handler. However I felt she needs more time to develop in body.

3rd - Trundley B & Palmer T - Nuuk Saarskali Bila Kaifa Juniperwood (Imp CZE)

Class 13 - Open Bitch (3/2)

1st - Jerrett DL - Coldelee Eternal Sunshine JW - 4yrs S/W

Absolutely loved this girl ultra feminine, absolutely beautiful. Even from a distance you can see the quality in her head pattern two level parallel planes with the desired slight but perceptible stop. Such a gentle sweet expression. Strength in neck flowing into well angulated front, well sprung rib. Firm level top line strong muscular thighs with well let down hocks. She moved as her conformation suggested with purpose and drive. Couldn’t deny her BB, BOB.

Class 14 - Veteran Bitch - (4/3)

1st - Sweeney J&D & Lusty A - CH Blamorder Do Quite Nicely AW(S) 7yrs (B/M)

Another quality girl who gave a lovely image on the stand of balance and type. Her head was of the correct wedge shape of equal length well moulded in muzzle kind expressive eye. Lovely arch to neck angulation front and rear angulations of equal proportions allowing her to move around the ring with ease. Her coat was a good colour and of the correct texture. Pleased to award her RBB, VB.
