Spire Toy Dog Society

Spire ToyDog Society

1st November 2026

Judge: Lizzie Morley

This is without doubt my favourite show of the year, yes, a n open show, just 7 minutes up the road from home, it’s one I love to show at and have been fortunate enough to judge at several times, including Best in show a few years ago, so it’s a show that holds a special place for me….the committee go above and beyond to make this show exhibitor friendly, from its excellent layout, helpfulness and chocolates out and about for exhibitors to enjoy.

It’s always good to see Tony Minett and his set up in the squash court taking Photos for exhibitors and we took advantage of this and had a couple of our own dogs photographed after judging too.

A great show, so if you’ve not done Spire toy dog before, try and make the next one!

Puppy

1st Jackson’s Verheyen Cantona at Fortunamajor

11 month male, Black and tan presented in beautiful order with lovely rich tan markings, I liked his head particularly, with his beautiful dark expressive eyes and soft expression, good muzzle with nice width and a well set ear with good fringing, he had a good neck and his front was well laid with straight legs, good bone for his size which added to his overall balance, he had a good body with enough spring of rib and he kept his topline at all times, a firm, nicely angled rear finished the picture and a well set tail which wagged and was held correctly, he was sound all ways. Best puppy

2nd Stonebridge’s Cassandy Sorrel Sprite with Toseland

Blenheim, a bit younger at 7 months really liked him overall, dressed in lovely clean white with nice red markings, pretty headed boy with lustrous dark eyes giving an appealing expression, good front although I’d like a bit more chest but at 7 months there’s plenty of time and he tended to lose his topline on the move, but again, with maturity this will hopefully firm up, sound on the move with decent reach.

3rd Fox-Shone Lisgarth Destined avec Pamedna

Lovely rich ruby but just giving so much away in maturity today, however she has everything in the right place to build on and so pretty, I was happy to go over her and maybe I’ll meet her again when more mature…

Junior

1st Hood’s Aisidewood Imitation

Black and tan with a lovely masculine head, dark round eyes, a good muzzle with correct bite, well set ears, I found him a little upright in shoulder and straight in stifle but was balanced, he has a good body with a nice ribcage, a well set tail and was presented nicely, he held his topline, which is what won him the class.

2nd Hewitt’s Gorska Finezja

Pretty blen girl of 11 months, she had a good muzzle , good stop, and nice width of skull, I preferred the lay of shoulder on this one but would like a more parallel back end and firmer topline, she was well marked and nicely presented. Showed well.

Post grad

1st and second as per previous class

Limit

1st Jackson’s Fortunamajor Pereus JW

Tri boy of 3 years, dark round eyes and a good ear set, would prefer a shade more muzzle, but I’m nit picking, he was balanced and has a well-marked coat with good tan, his neck and shoulder were good and he held a firm, level topline all the time, his bone was in keeping with his size and his feet were forward facing, moved soundly, if maybe a shade closer behind than ideal.

2nd Tarabad’s Frondil Taurus Attraction

17 month, Blenheim male, presented immaculately with his well broken coat of clean white and rich chestnut, liked his masculine head and dark expressive eyes, good body and bone for his size, moves out well. A bit mischievous today which made him lose his topline at times but a nice example nevertheless.

3rd Lunt’s Oaktreepark Royal Bliss

Open dog

1st Drewett’s Arrowbien Jamie

4 year old Blenheim dog with a stunning head, super dark round eyes which were set well to give a soft, melting expression, a good muzzle to skull ratio and enough width of skull, he has a correct bite, well set and fringed ears and he just looked so regal, his body was firm and well muscled under his beautifully presented coat, with excellent angles front and back which gave a well balanced overall picture, he has good bone for his size and holds a firm and level topline and his correct tail carriage on the move really catches the eye on the go around, sound and true on the move, I couldn’t get past him for best of breed.

2nd Lunt’s Oaktreepark Royal Austin

Another Blenheim, very strong in head but has a dark eye, a very well-made body, and a lovely broken coat, moves out soundly and is sound front and back, a happy boy with a lovely wagging tail.

Open B1tch

1st Jackson’s Fortunamajor Shining Star

Blenheim with a really beautiful feminine head with lustrous round dark eyes and such a soft expression, a lovely type of good make and shape, sound all through and was well balanced with correct front and rear angles, well marked although between coats maybe, and beautifully presented. Keeping her level topline on the move as well as stood, I really liked her.

2nd Lunts Oaktreepark Royal Ava

Pretty head and a lovely round dark eye give this attractive girl and soft appealing expression, she has a well-made body with good bone for her size and nice angles front and rear, she moves soundly and holds a nice tail set.

Japanese Chin

Puppy

Two very nice puppies here to start with and both had many qualities and lots to commend both. A credit to their owners and breeder.

1st Bradley’s Sharlarna top totty

Just 6 and a half months a sooo pretty, dainty and fine, just so well made with glorious angulation front and rear which just gives that natural balance which makes a dog, not stand wrong. Such expressive beautiful eyes, and a correct skull, width of muzzle and well set ears, a lovely neck and shoulder, she keeps her topline and has a super tail set with good furnishings coming on well, needs to just settle a little in front movement but I liked what I saw and she just has a tighter outline and this gave her the nod for the class win. One that is destined for the top.

2nd Foynes Sharlarna Abracadabra for Lafay

Red and white male a little older than the winner, he’s another made so well and has a super front with fine, straight bone, hare feet and good angulation, his head is well set out and has good width of muzzle, He is light and free on the move and sound in all departments, two good puppies here and I liked both very much.

Junior

1st Foynes Sharlarna Lion Heart for Layfay

Brother to 2nd in puppy and masculine, red and white and with a lovely appealing head and a dark well placed eye, good skull and set of ear, he has a very good front with well laid shoulders and straight, fine boned legs and stands on correct feet, he keeps his topline level and his well set tail with a good plume, just gives an overall balance. Well-marked coat and moves out correctly displaying a sound true light action, two nice puppies in this litter it seems. Unfortunately, I could only find one testicle on the day.

Open

1st Bradley’s Sharlarna All Eyes on Me JW

Best of breed, this black and white ultra feminine girl has it all, she is so very pretty with a delightful head, with lovely dark eyes, a good skull shape and well set ears with good fringes, her wide muzzle is well padded and she is attractively marked and beautifully presented, in excellent body condition she has a well laid shoulder, fine, straight front, good chest and holds a level topline, she has a quality rear with matching angulation to give a natural balance and a well set tail with a beautiful plume, she steps out with style and is true coming and going and holds a lovely outline in side profile. One I could easily take home.

2nd Gullon’s Adreeam Alice JW, red and white with a gorgeous head, so feminine, I liked her overall make and shape and she has a good lay of shoulder and superb front, keeps a level topline and her tail set is high with a good plume, she is sound all ways and moves nicely. Her red and white coat is of correct texture and well-marked.

Yorkshire Terrier

Puppy

1st Fox-Shone’s Queenslake Ring of Hope avec Pamedna

6 months female, really pretty head yet a keen expression and a ‘let me at ‘em’ attitude which I like, I have a peke puppy who is just like that too!

She is a lovely type and her shape is for me, ideal, she is square with a level topline, she has a good firm shoulder and a well angled rear, her head in more detail, has dark eyes, with a bit of a naughty glint, a good muzzle to skull proportion and well set, small v shaped ears, correct pigment where desired. Her coat is developing well although obviously dark at this age, but she has good tan and in the right places, she moves out very soundly and scored highly on her confidence for one so young. I found her good value for best puppy and reserve best of breed too. Sure to have a bright future.

Junior

1st Hutchinson’s Claay and Sassy of New Deal (imp)

Female just turned 12 months. Clean head with dark eyes, good pigments, a good muzzle and well set and sized ears, her head sits on a good neck, and her shoulders are good with nice tight elbows, good chest and level topline, firm and well made under her silky cool coat, She was immaculately turned out and pushed hard, a quality girl with a bright future, I’m sure.

Post Grad

1st Foster’s Marlukney Blossom Goddess.

Another youngster at just 12 months, feminine with a keen dark eye and small well-set ears of correct shape, a good bite and muzzle, nice neck and shoulder, level topline and firm rear assembly, nice silky coat, short and level topline she moves out soundly and true.

Open

1st Lee’s Litalees Red Rebel

2 years male and in superb firm body condition, scored in head and expression for me, with a keen dark, well set eyes and a good muzzle to skull ratio, well set and small v shaped ears, excellent pigment, a good front with correct shoulder, level topline and firm rear quarters, well let down hocks, Dressed in a silky coat of good length, good falls, and very well presented overall, I liked him on the move where he was sound, keen, and true all ways. I’ve given him a group 3 before and liked him very much today too, best of breed.

2nd Foster’s Jankeri Beatrice

Female of 2 years and really lovely head, keen yet feminine, small well-set ears and dark eyes, good pigment, her body was well made although I did prefer the tail set of the winner, her coat was cool and silky and had tan underneath, she moved well and showed herself to advantage.

Handling

JHA 12-16

1ST Jessie Burgin-Marsden

Handling an ETT, this young lady was gentle and considerate of her dog, she moved at a steady pace to show off her dog’s movement and was effective in getting her dog stood correctly, she kept her eye on where I was in the ring and didn’t come between me and the dog.

2nd Rhiddian Rodgers

Handling a smart little pom, this handler was well presented and got the best out of his dog with gentle, breed specific handling, moved at the right speed to accentuate his dog’s movement, needs to watch the judge and not get between the judge and dog. Keep at it and every time, you’ll improve.

3rd Renesmee Rodges

Again, handling a pom, absolutely nothing wrong with her handling for the breed ring, she was gentle and kind, moved at the right speed, but needs to watch where the judge is and not come between her dog and the judge. It will come with practice, keep going.
