Parson Russell Terrier Club
The Parson Russell Terrier Club Spring Open Show
Judge: Mrs. Linda Shelton
My thanks to The Parson Russell Terrier Club for the appointment to judge their Spring Open Show on Sunday, 12th April 2026. The show follows on from the Club’s AGM and I applaud all those with the stamina to spend the rest of the day at the Open show, it does make for a long day out! My huge and appreciative thanks for the entry of 44 Parsons. It is a privilege to be able to go over so many PRT’s and it is only with entries like this that a judge can hone their skills and I thank each and every one of you for accepting my decisions in a sporting way.
I had a lot of fun judging (once the inevitable nerves settled) and overall, despite some slightly boisterous walks, I am pleased to say that to a tee, the PRT’s performed so very well. Temperaments were great and I much prefer a bouncy, happy terrier attitude in the ring!
My final thanks go to the Committee as I fully appreciate how much work goes into such a day. I can’t finish without mentioning my Steward, Miss Rebecca Blair who kept the ring (and me) working at optimum levels! Also, a shout out to Miss Ceira Townsend for helping Rebecca.
Class 1 & 2 Baby Puppy D and B (No entries)
Class 3 Veteran Dog (3/1)
1st Ch Riplington See Your Dreams D. 21 March 2019
Miss S Collis
A seven year old Tri with attractive markings. Lovely correct head with dark, almond eye, good ear and leathers and a spot on PRT expression. Lively but happy to be gone over on the table. Good dentition. A little hard to span but forgiven for all other attributes from straight front, good neck length well set on nice shoulders, rise over loin and nice angulation at rear all led to a lovely movement around the ring. 2nd Ch Cleeve Hill Kasper (Imp Bell) D. 23 July 2011
Mr G Miss R & Ms J Blair, Blair and Hadley
One of my favourite veterans and still has that something special in the ring. A grand old 15 years of age all white dog. Has all the attributes of a breed standard Parson. Good coat, lovely head with dark, expressive eyes and alert expression. Correct in outline and still moves out well. A credit to the breed and his owners.
Class 4 Minor Puppy Dog (3)
1st Ruffntuff Topgear Tommi D. 14 September 2025
Mrs A Hughes
A very nice seven month old puppy, already good on the table. Great dentition. Head lovely with dark eyes and good ear shape and set. Will comment that he doesn’t necessarily come over well when photographed but get your hands on him and everything is as it should be and up to breed standards. Good coat and pelt. Well angulated and, even at his age, moved out well with drive for his handler with whom he already shows a great rapport. One to watch. BPD BPiS
2nd Pacolito Veni Vedi Veci D. 14 September 2025
Mr. M & Mrs. J Baker
The same age as 1st and pushed hard for the first spot. All over a very nice pup. Loved his head, markings and strong in all the breed standards. A proper terrier temperament, interested in everything going on around him but nice to go over just not the settled movement of 1st today.
Class 5 Puppy Dog (1)
1st Kenbloom Warm Cashmere D. 2 October 2025
Mr. K. F Wylde
Lovely six month old. Hard to span as he was so lively but such a happy and lovely temperament to him. His coat does need some attention and he would benefit from continuing ring craft. Nice to see a black and white with such good markings. Overall, good angulation and stands (when he does stand) on neat feet. His sheer enjoyment of the experience made it impossible not to smile. Look forward to seeing him again in the future.
Class 6 Junior Dog (1/1)
Class 7 Yearling Dog (1)
1st Foxfur Expionage for Rodzina JW D. 16 July 2024
Miss R L Mitchell
21 months old with great ring presence from the off. Strong in head with dark eye and well placed ears with wedge shaped head. Good strong teeth. Has a nice harsh coat. Very nice temperament on the table and very spannable. Has a straight front standing on very neat tight feet. Good angulations from the rear and he pushed off to a strong drive on the walk with a smooth action and correct topline. A great pairing of a dog and very calm handler getting the best from him. Very happy to award BD and BiS.
Class 8 Post Graduate Dog (1)
1st Draytogo Hesperus D. 28 January 2024
Miss A & Mr H Kenison and Merrick
Just over two years old with lovely markings and attractive dark eyes and alert expression. and wedge shaped head. He is spannable though has slightly deeper chest but still a quality dog. Harsh good coat. Needs to settle on the walk but lovely to see him when he did relax on the move.
Class 9 Limit Dog (4/2)
1st Heythrop Tempura D. 18 July 2024
Mrs L Bigland
Lovely example of a Parson from the Heythrop Kennel who are consistent in their breed type. A compact dog with a lovely head, good, dark eye, nice ears and wedge head. Good harsh coat. He stands on the neatest of feet and is well angulated. Would perhaps like just a tad more weight but he is well muscled and fit. Movement was very good and went well for his handler.
2nd Draytogo Hesperus D. 28 January 2024
Miss A & Mr H Kenison and Merrick
Placed 1st in the previous class. He moved much better around the ring in this class but was unlucky to come up against 1st on this occasion.
Class 10 Open Dog (4)
1st Ch Partridgdale Flynn D. 21 May 2021
Mr D Hobson
A four year old lovely example of a PRT. Has matured very well. Excellent head, wedge shaped with good ear set and dark, expressive eye. Straight front with good lay of shoulder and length of neck. Nice coat. Second thigh evident. Good tailset and drives off from the rear giving a correct topline and nice movement around the ring. RBD RBiS

Another lovely, neat and compact dog. Good head, dark eye, nice ears and keen expression. Straight in front and standing on very neat, tight feet. Very spannable. Lost out to 1st on movement alone.

What a lovely class to judge and all the ladies looked so fit and happy.
1st Gonetoground I have a Dream. B. 8 May 2018
Mrs S A Nixon BB BoS BVB BViS
A cracking seven and a half year old. Good harsh coat. Lovely temperament, a pleasure to go over. Very spannable. Correct and attractive head with dark eye, correct ears and a wedge shaped head with flat skull. A feminine alert expression. Stands on good feet with straight front, nice length of neck. All over a terrier with correct breed standard conformation that leads into a very smooth movement around the ring.
2nd Ch Alncroft Isle See B. 28 September 2015
Mr D Hobson
10 and a half year old lady who still has all the qualities of a top class show girl. Great head, super fit condition and good coat and pelt. Pushed hard for 1st, just preferred movement of 1st on the day.
Class 12 Minor Puppy Bitch (2/1)
1st Pacolito Notorious B. 14th September 2025
Mr M and Mrs J Baker
A striking tan and white well marked girl. My ‘wow’ moment of the day. Overall an excellent example of the breed standard. Head is all correct with dark eye, wedge shaped flat skull, good ears. She has a lively PRT at the ready expression and lovely temperament for her age. Just needs that little bit of maturity to settle on the move and will be a belter. One to watch. BPB RBPiS
Class 13 Puppy Bitch (2)
1st Shielmarh Tayla Made B. 22 August 2025
Mr M and Mrs J Baker
Six months old tan and white. A lively puppy bitch I liked a lot. Definitely has a sparky PRT temperament and up on her toes for her handler, but time and experience will calm her down and she is a cracker. Good shaped head, well shaped dark eyes, nice ears. Front is good as is her neck length and lay of shoulder. Chest nice depth and easy to span. When she relaxes on the move you can see what a mover she will be.
2nd Wayward Ge Ge B. 21 July 2025
Anderson Miss M and Mrs C
Very close run with 1st place and liked so much about her. Good head with a dark eye, feminine expression. Spannable. Nice topline on the move. Stands on neat feet. Coat ok. Look forward to seeing her mature.

Class 15 Yearling Bitch (0)
Class 16 Post Graduate Bitch (5/3)
1st Auldtoby Life on Mars B. 4 November 2023
Mrs C Stone
Perhaps not a stand out in the line up at first glance but that hands on experience makes you realise how nice she is. Great quality hard coat and nice pelt. Lovely head with dark eye and alert yet feminine expression. Stands on good, tight feet and is well angulated. Moved well when settled.
2nd Bardrain;s Lady of Chadbrook B. 23 August 2024
Shakeshaft, McCluskey and Young, Mrs N, Mr P and Ms J.
A prime example of a lovely Parson who I have had hands on before. Good head, dark eye, wedge shaped skull and lovely expression. Nice coat. Correct conformation of the breed standard all over. Her movement was erratic against 1st today.
Class 17 Limit Bitch (5/2)
1st Ruffntuff Tears of Joy B. 31 December 2022
Mrs A Hughes
Nice head with dark, almond shaped eye and good size and shape of ear. Super terrier on alert expression. Nice chest size, spannable with ribs carried well back. Rise over loin evident. Harsh coat. She was unsettled on the move at first but then got into her stride and you could see her lovely smooth action on the move, particularly from the side, with a nice topline.
2nd Chadbrook Risk and Reward into Levushka B. 2 January 2023
Shakeshaft, Kemp and Kemp, Mrs N, Ms H and Mr E
Very nice girl with a ton of lovely PRT attributes; well shaped head with dark eye and feminine expression. Like her compact size and shape, spannable. Neat feet. Unfortunately, pipped by the coat and movement of 1st on this occasion.
Class 18 Open Bitch (6/1)
1st Woldlincs Super Dooper by Pacolito B. 7 December 2024
Mr M and Mrs J Baker
Sixteen month tan and white bitch of beautiful proportions. She has matured nicely. Lovely shaped head with expressive dark eye, good ear set and wedge shaped head. Spannable. Lovely temperament on the table and a pleasure to go over. Nice movement when settled on the walk. Quality all through and pushed for higher honours.
2nd Foxfur Bewitched by Kylini IR. JCH. JW B. 28 October 2024
Miss K Rimmer
Another ‘corker’ of a girl with all round breed standard conformation with much to admire. Lovely head and features with alert, open expression. Stands on tight feet and drives off into a lovely smooth movement from her correct angulation, giving a nice topline on the move.
Class 19 Brace (1)
Mrs A Hughes
This pair may have stood alone and they may have been together in a brace class for the first time, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching them and applaud their handler for managing to get them around the ring. Well done!
