Border Collies – Klara Zolakova (Hysteps)

Thank you to the committee for the kind invitation to judge. I enjoyed my day with you. I was looking for a moderate, well-angled dog that exhibited the correct movement. Some of the dogs were a little unsettled on the move, but I saw enough to make my selections.

Puppy (5/3abs)

1st Aliola’s The Skylark

10 month old black and white bitch. Lovely feminine head with pricked ears and the darkest of eyes which are little bit rounder than I would prefer. Her angles fore and aft matched, and she was sound coming and going with nice reach and drive. When she settled for couple of strides, she put her head down – the correct position for a Border Collie – and was gone. She has a nice croup with a tail of the correct length, she was just a little proud of it on move. Coat was in lovely condition. BP PG4

2nd Noblewolves Bramleyapple**

9 month old sable dog of heavier type then 1. He has a masculine head with semi-erect ears which he let me see for a second. Correct shape of eye. He has a pleasing shape on stand with lovely long neck in to good shoulders, I would prefer his upper arm a bit longer to match his rear angulations. He is sound coming, but needs to tighten up going away. Turned out well with nice muscle tone.

Junior (3/2abs)

1st Noblewolves Bramleyapple**

Repeat entry, 2nd in puppy

Postgraduate (4/3abs)

1st Pencoppen Standing Ovation

This 2-year-old bitch has loads to offer. She had left her coat at home, but there is nothing to hide. Once she settled on the move, she dropped her head and showed me the correct daisy cutting movement with low lift of foot. She has a feminine head with lovely dark eyes of almond shape. Long neck leading into a lovely parallel front with good shoulder placement. Her front and back angles matched which showed in her effortless movement once she settled. Strong loin leading in to well moulded croup and correct tail set. Great muscle tone. RBOB

Open dog (2/0abs)

1st Caleykiz Starshine

This 18 month old black and white dog is all male. He has very pleasing headpiece with small tipped ears which he used well, and a lovely almond shaped dark eye. He is in full bloom, coat in excellent condition, which detracted a little from his shape. He has lovely front angles with great lay of shoulder. Movement was great coming, just needs tighten up going away. Good side gait once he got going, he was just not as positive as his kennel mates. Adequate neck, lovely parallel front. Well sprung ribs, good croup with correct tail set. BOS

2nd Noblewolves Bramleyapple**

Repeat entry 2nd in puppy, 1st in Junior

Open bitch (4/1abs)

1st Arrodare No Wonder

When this 4year old black and white bitch came into the ring and stood up, there was no denying she will be commanding this ring, and she didn’t disappoint. She is focused on her handler, who she kept on her toes. She is very feminine with pricked ears and lovely dark eyes. Long neck leading into well-placed shoulders and excellent upper arm, which let her move around the ring with the correct, breed-typical action. I was tempted to ask the handler to keep going as I could watch this movement all day. She is very true coming and going, keeping her topline all the time, with nice croup and good tail set. Lovely hind angles finish a quality package. Her coat is halfway to full bloom, but that doesn’t distract from her qualities. Pleased to award her BOB and see her go on to G2

2nd Pencoppen My Fair Lady

2 year old black and white girl. Lovely dark eye, her ears are bit on heavier side, but she used them well. She has a lovely long neck leading into parallel front which I preferred to 3. Lovely topline and croup with correct set and length of tail. She had more drive on her side gait then 3 which scored her this place.

3rd Pencoppen La Parisienne

This two year old girl is a litter sister to PG winner and to 2nd in this class, they all have all very similar qualities. She is more feminine than 2 but overall, I preferred the movement of both of her sisters.
