Oswestry & District Kennel Association

Breed: Rhodesian Ridgeback
Oswestry and District Kennel Association. 15th March 2026. Rhodesian Ridgeback. A huge congratulations to the Committee of Oswestry and District on the running of a fabulous show. The welcome was hearty, with tea and coffee a plenty and a special mention for the Carrot Cake which was delicious! Thank you to everyone who entered under me, especially the week after Crufts when all we really wanted to do was rest on the sofa! We had hail, wind and rain which meant all the dogs felt like their worlds were ending, and we just managed to finish before the heavens opened, but they still put in a performance, and I was very pleased with such a quality entry of dogs. Junior. 2 (1) 1st Tambyssa’s The Detective with Kuwinda. 6 months old on his first outing and he thoroughly enjoyed himself. Head of good proportions, would prefer a little more stop, but nice depth of muzzle with clean fitting lips. Lovely reach of neck, leading to well laid-back shoulder and ample return of upper arm. Excellent front with good depth of chest. Ratio of ribbing to loin was correct. Great width of second thigh with hocks well let down, demonstrating nice rear angulation. His wagging tail never stopped all the way round the ring! Pleased to award him 1st place and Best Puppy in Breed. Post Graduate. 4 (2) 1st Mutoko’s Blaze of Glory. This girl can really move! At 8yrs old she is in fantastic condition, and although she made her handler work, her quality shone through. Head of excellent proportions, nice ear set which framed her dark round eye. Correct length of neck flowing into well laid-back shoulders. Chest of correct depth and width with good length of ribbing and a strong loin. Very nice tail set. Presented a beautifully balanced picture with super rear angulation. Solid topline, which she carried with purpose on the move. She powered around that ring, and it was a delight to watch. Really pleased to award her 1st place and then Reserve Best of Breed. 2nd Africaner Sundown. 19 months and a super masculine, handsome dog who is up to size. Very well-proportioned head. Dark round eye and correct ear set. Good reach of neck, great depth and width of chest, nice length of ribbing leading to muscular loin. Ample bone throughout, with nice width of second thigh and well let down hocks. Lacked enthusiasm on the go around today but moved with free action and handled expertly. Open. 7 (5) 1st CH Priorpark Proof In Pudding JW. 2yr bitch presented in excellent condition. Loved her substance and presence as she entered the ring. Feminine head of correct proportions, with an expression that holds an air of aloofness. Good reach of neck that flowed into well laid-back shoulders with ample return of upper arm. Excellent depth of chest, correct ratio of ribbing leading to a powerful loin. Standing on strong pasterns, well let down hocks and lovely tight feet. Balanced throughout and this was evident when she moved around the ring. She moved with purpose and drive, maintaining that lovely solid topline and could definitely do a day’s work! A pleasure to award her Best of Breed, and delighted that she went on to win HG1 under Judge Daniel Roberts and then Best in Show under Hound Specialist Stuart Byrne. What an accolade. Many Congratulations. 2nd CH Gunthwaites Fancy Man JW. 4yr male again in excellent condition. Super masculine head of good proportions, lovely dark eye with correct ear set. Well off for bone, nice reach of neck, good depth and width of chest with correct length of ribbing to loin ratio. Balanced front and rear with super width of second thigh and well let down hocks. Moved freely around the ring with confidence, just lacked drive today. Kelly Millward.
