Variety and Best In Show

SWGC held their Premier Open Show at the Matford Centre. Many thanks to the Club Secretary Mrs. Mary Trotter and her committee for the invitation to judge at this show. The rings inside the centre were spacious and well laid out. There were rings set up outside, weather permitting, that were used. The atmosphere throughout the day was good and exhibitors were sporting.

Clubs like this are the grassroots of our lovely hobby and they need to be supported and preserved. They are ideal places to take our young dogs and train our exhibits for higher competition in the future, and spend time with like-minded people and enjoy the day out. I have been to hundreds of open shows over the years and this one is right up there with the best of them. Well done!

Thanks go to my stewards, Gordon and Phil, who did a grand job and were also good company. This was a memorable judging appointment at a super club with lovely dogs on show and nice people—what’s not to like? All the best for the future to SWGC.

BIS Stirks Nyllaup Akoya Pearl for Grakar JW A quality Irish Water Spaniel. She has a head of good shape under her topknot. Lovely dark almond-shaped eyes giving a most feminine expression. Ears long, oval, and low set. Neck arched and flowing into her well-formed shoulders. Pleased in chest and ribbing well back. Short, firm topline. Muscular hindquarters with good angulation. Tail set low and carried well. Plenty of bone throughout but not overdone. Stood, she looks so balanced and correct. Dense, tight coat with good ringlets. Moved out sound and true with correct drive and reach. I thought she was lovely and so together. Pleased to award her B.I.S. Congratulations!

RBIS & BPIS Siddles Wilchrimane Florentine Lovely young O/W Pointer bitch. I had given her BPIS earlier; the more I saw of her, the more she appealed. She has quality throughout, everything flowing in graceful curves and giving great balance. Most pleasing in head shape with dark expressive eye. Ears well set. Clean neck of length leading to good front assembly. Shoulders well laid. Correct in brisket; forelegs straight. Body pleased, short-coupled. Rear construction good; stifles well-turned and hocks well let down. Tail set and carried correctly. Feet of good shape. Moved out well using rear for drive. Stood, she looked a picture. All you would want from a puppy of this age. Shown and presented well. Looking forward to seeing her progress; sure to have a bright future.

BIS3 Clarkes Covarney Dream Time from Bronrians JW Most feminine Irish Setter of super type and quality. Most appealing in head shape with good dark eye giving a most pleasing expression. Ears well set. Clean neck into well-formed front assembly. Shoulders well laid. Chest deep with sprung ribbing. Firm in back with muscular loin. Rear construction good; stifles well-bent and pleasing muscular form. Tail set and carries well. Tight feet. Coat and feathering very good. When stood, gave lovely balance of outline. Movement was sound and free-flowing with drive from rear. Shown and presented very well. I thought she was lovely.

BIS4 Kibbys Trimere Taylor Made at Pinhays JW Sh.CEx OSW English Springer Spaniel. Quality bitch of good breed type. Loved her feminine head of good shape. Dark hazel eyes giving a kind, gentle expression. Her ears are well set. Clean neck of good length, muscular and firm. Pleased in front construction with well-made shoulders, good chest, and straight forelegs. Body well-formed; chest deep with sprung ribbing. Level topline. Rear assembly was good with moderate angulation and broad muscular thighs. Tight feet. Plenty of bone for frame. Tail pleased and carried well. She moved out sound and true with good reach. Coat and condition pleased. Stood, she has a balanced outline. A smart bitch shown well.

RBPIS Northmores Pennbeacon Oh No Not Susan Thought this young Golden Retriever was a beauty. So feminine and balanced throughout. Super head with good dark eye giving a gentle expression. Good dark pigment. Well-made in neck leading to most pleasing shoulders. Body deep with good ribbing. Short-coupled, level topline. Rear assembly correct; well-bent stifles, hocks well down. Tail set and carried correctly. Tight feet. Plenty of bone but not overdone. Stood so balanced in outline. Coat and condition very good. Moved out sound and true and at one with her owner. Should go on to take her fair share. Well done.

BPIS3 Claphams Sojourrner Perseus GSP dog, masculine in head with good shape. Kind expression. Good clean neck. Front assembly pleased. Body deep, firm in back. Good hindquarters, well-muscled. Stifles and hocks pleased. Tail set well. Coat was good on this flashy marked boy. He has good bone and substance throughout. Stood, looked well and moved out in controlled stride with his owner. Tight feet. Presented in lovely condition.

BPIS4 Menhennetts Marzanne Lightnin Strikes over Whistlebrush Most promising Irish Setter bitch puppy. So feminine in head of good shape. Lovely eye and expression. Ears set well. Neck of moderate length leading to well-formed front construction. Body deep, topline good with gentle slope of croup to tail. Stifles well-bent. Tight feet. Stood, has most pleasing outline which is balanced. Moved out very well for one so young. Coat was good. She has good breed type and should go on to take her fair share.

BVIS McCabe-Bell Grandtully Eliza Doolittle VW Lovely feminine black Cocker Spaniel bitch. For me, so good in head shape. Ultra-feminine with lovely dark eye giving the best of expressions. Pleasing in ears, set low. Neck of moderate length. Good shoulders. Compact body with sprung ribs. Level topline with slight slope to tail. Rear assembly pleased; well-bent stifle. Correct feet. When stacked out, looked so balanced. Her movement was very good, sound and true with drive. Presented and shown well. She was in good coat and condition. A very smart Cocker; pleased to award her BVIS. One to be proud of.

RBVIS Fens Chalksville Highlander at Jandeburn Golden Retriever boy. Most pleasing in head, masculine with kind dark eye. Good strong neck. Front construction pleased. Body of good depth. Firm level topline. Well-formed and angulated rear. He has plenty of bone for frame. Tail well set. Tight feet. Very good in coat and condition. Stood and shown well. Moved out with drive at one with his owner.

BVIS 3 Fens Chalksville Barregarrow at Jandeburn Another lovely Goldie male, head of good shape, kind expression with dark eye, well made throughout, plenty of substance and bone, tight feet. Stood gives balanced frame, moved out at one with owner, looked well and one to be proud of.

BIS 4 Luczynski Baladeva Scarlett Letters For Kanara ShCM ShCEx VW Compact feminine American Cocker Spaniel, pleased in head shape with good neck, front assembly correct, body of depth, good rear angulation. Shown and presented very well, moved out with drive. Happy exhibit who enjoys her time in the ring.

Coat harsh with dense under jacket, tail carried well with slight raise at tip. Stood produced good outline, moves out true with drive from rear.

Stood so balanced in outline, lovely curves. Moved out sound and true with rear drive, used tail to advantage. Presented in good condition and form, a worthy Sh.Ch. (2) Jones Sh.Ch Braemist Witches Fire Flat Coated Retriever, this bitch has a lovely outline and is a good size, feminine throughout. Loved her head shape and expressive dark eye, well formed neck, shoulders are well laid, liked her body with good chest depth, firm in topline, well ribbed, muscular rear with moderate angulation, tight feet, good in bone for frame. Stood shows pleasing balance, moved out well, used and carried her tail to advantage. Presented in good condition and coat, a very smart exhibit. (2) Wainwrights Ashbyglen I Dreamed A Dream Golden Retriever Male, head of good type and shape, he has a gentle kind expression with good dark eye and pleasing pigmentation. Strong well formed neck leading to shoulders that are well laid, elbows close fitting, body of depth and balance, good well sprung ribs, firm in topline, rear construction good, stifles well bent, muscular in form, tight feet.
