Firstly I would like to thank all the exhibitors for bringing their dogs for my first judging appointment. They were all kept in remarkable condition with short nails, clean teeth and not an overweight beagle in sight!

Class 86 Beagle Puppy (2):

1st Leader’s Davricard Artemis (BPIB, PG1, BPIS 3), a very smart 11 month tri girl who I was exceedingly pleased went on to win the puppy group and then came 3rd in the BPIS lineup. She had the sweetest expression with a good reach of neck, well laid-back shoulders leading into a level top line that she kept exquisitely through her stride due to the compactness of her structure. She covered the ground well in profile and although was being troublesome for the handler at times it is good to see a beagle of personality!

2nd Rushforth’s Campionfield Limelight, a 7 month compact tri girl with a very striking well-kept coat. She was well muscled and had a good amount of bone. Well sprung ribs that extended well back resulted in the compactness of this girl, who had good angulation in her shoulders. On the day I preferred the rear angulation of 1st.

Class 87 Beagle Junior (2):

1st Rushforth’s Charterwood Speciality of Campionfield (RBIB), a 15 month a very compact tan and white girl who showed a lot of substance in the forequarters, had a chest that was well let down, short couplings coupled with a ribcage extending suitably back allowed for the sturdiness of this girl. She covered the ground well in profile with an easy stride.

2nd Porter’s Puddlehill Winter Soldier, a 17 month tricolour mottle male, he displayed a strong male head with a coat that was kept in a clean, sleek and dense condition. He demonstrated substantial bone and although longer body than my 1st still showed a ribcage of suitable length that was well let down under his body. Like the class winner he showed accurate profile movement.

Class 88 Beagle Post Graduate (2):

1st Porter’s Puddlehill Doctor Strange, a 17 month tri mottle dog that showed a head with no excessiveness, a sufficiently long reach of neck that led down to a level topline. The ribcage was well sprung, let down to below the elbows and he had ample without excessive forechest. He showed a good example of rear angulation and moved accurately in profile.

2nd Rushforth’s Campionfield Scrumptious, 20 month tri girl who’s first attribute you notice is her compactness, she had a head that showed no sign of snippiness with well flewed lips. She was shown in smart condition with a well-kept clean coat. A ribcage that was well let down and supported by plenty of substance with well-rounded bone and tight feet.

Class 89 Beagle Open (4, 1 Absent):

1st Webster’s Rossut Vizier for Houndscoast (BIB, G3), a 4 year old tan and white male who was shown in a very good condition, he was well balanced and showed tremendous bone and substance without being excessive. He showed an appropriate reach of neck that led into well angulated shoulders. Well sprung ribs that extended suitably well back, with short coupling gave rise to a sturdy dog who moved accurately in profile, front and rear. It was enjoyable to see his attributes then recognised in the group ring.

2nd Hunt’s Bondlea Cherished, a 2 year old tri bitch who was longer in style. She showed a clean head with no sign of frown of wrinkle. A well reaching neck, which fed down to well angulated shoulders. A forechest that was not excessive fed into ribs were well let down past the elbows. Although longer she kept a level topline both on the stack and in profile with good rear angulation.

3rd Giles-Wyatt’s Clarismore Crown Prince JW
