Retriever (Labrador)
A super entry, with some extremely promising youngsters all of which should have good futures. In the labrador breed standard, excess weight is mentioned more than once so overweight dogs were penalised, not only for not meeting the required standard but also for the effect the extra weight has on movement. PD/B (5,1) What a class to start the day, full of quality puppies. 1st Smith’s Flyenpyg Swynona Ryder 7mth black bitch. At just 7mths I was informed at the end of the day, she gained her the last points for her JW – a huge achievement at such a young age, well done, should bode well for a good future. This is a super pup, with the most prettiest of heads, correct width, well defined stop, good bite. Lovely dark eye, ears well back and close lying. Well balanced front and rear angulation. Chest already of good depth. Barrel ribs well back, strong in loin, short coupled. Level topline with correct otter tail set from back with no slope to the croup. Shown in correct coat. On the move she is already balanced, clean out and back with good drive and reach, which belies her young age. BP and PGRP2 2nd Proctor’s Acredam’s Miss Marple of Penkaric 10mth yellow bitch. A slighter long cast bitch than 1st but still full of quality and breed type. Slightly finer in head but with a defined stop, dark eye and well set ear. Everything developing well and will continue as she matures. Balanced front and rear angulation. Strong topline and loin. Well set otter tail. Lovely coat and condition. Just not quite as clean in rear movement today but not unexpected for a puppy and will improve as she comes on. JD/B (5,1) 1st Smith’s Flyenpyg Swynona Ryder. 2nd Smith’s Flyenpyg Agatha Crispy 6mth black bitch. Another super puppy with very similar qualities to 1st, and in fact was a tad stronger in her rear movement but although only a month difference in age, presented a far less mature or balanced outline but this is totally acceptable at 6 months. Lovely feminine head, chest still to come down and ribs to spring but should come on well. Level in her topline, with correct set otter tail. Good strength to her neck set on to well laid shoulders. Nice balanced rear angulation. Just not the all round balance on the move but just needs time. PGD/B (7,3) 1st Bailey’s Harrop Ravenheart of Marlucove 4yr black bitch Beautiful balanced, well boned outline with lovely animation on the move. Pretty head of good width, defined stop, dark eye and well set ear. Strong in the neck, deep in chest with, straight forelegs and strong sloping pasterns. Correct front and rear angulation. Strong level topline, strong loin and well sprung barrel ribs. Super set otter tail. Good coat and condition. Really liked her movement, balanced with good drive and clean out and back. 2nd Gower’s Aughtonchase Honey Pie 6yr yellow bitch. Lots of like of this older bitch, correct with in the head, defined stop, good eye and ear. Chest of good depth. Strong in her pasterns. Balanced front a rear. Well sprung, barrel ribs. Level in her topline, but her tail is set a little lower than desired. Lovely side gait just not quite as strong in her movement as 1, not quite as clean in the rear. LD/B (5,1) 1st Holden’s Flyenpygs in Blankets over Labroknight JW 19mth black dog, so much to like about this upstanding youngster, very smart and catches your eye stood and on the move. Super head with defined stop and dark eye. Extremely balanced front and rear angulation which he used on the move with a ground covering stride and rear drive. Deep in chest, correct ribs and strong topline and loins. Well set tail and good feet. Shown in lovely coat and condition. BOB and Grp4 – should have a promising future. 2nd Proctor’s Lejie Sugar Almond at Penkaric 4yr yellow bitch. A lovely bitch full of breed type from head to tail with similar qualities to 1st – movement was the deciding factor – just not the animation or the rear and drive of the dog. OD/B 1st (3,0) 1st Smith’s Flyenpyg Jurgen Chopp JW 2 yr black male – Another smart male full of breed type, liked his super head, eye and ear set. Very balanced front and rear angulation, deep chested, strong over his loin. Correct barrel ribs, strong topline and well set tail. Lovely coat and condition. Preferred his rear angulation over 2 and this showed on the move where he was far cleaner out and back. In the challenge, gave way to the younger male who’s movement was the best on the day but a very close decision. 2nd Bruadarace Baile Eilidh 5yr chocolate bitch – another who was lovey to watch on the move but just not the rear drive as 1, as she is not quite as strong in stifle. She is a little longer cast than some but has a pretty, correct head, nice front angulation and deep in the chest. Barrel ribs, strong in her topline and well set tail, which she used well on the move.
English Setter
JD/B (2,0) Smettem-Minson’s Rijanis Casablanca Chywoon (Imp SRB) 16mths Orange Belton bitch. She won this class having more animation on the move. Long and lean head, well defined stop and oval skull. Correct eye and low set ear. Correct bite. Very clean and elegant neck, unmistakenly feminine, well laid shoulders. Very strong in her fore chest, down to her elbows. Although the standard calls for slightly sloping pasterns, I feel she was a little down that I would like, but her young age this should improve. Well angulated rear. Strong topline and correct tail set. Lovely coat. She covered the ground well on the move, with reach and drive. 2nd Stead’s Bondgate Miss Melodrama of Settavista 13mth Blue Belton bitch, not long out of puppy and not the maturity of 1 or the animation on the move, but otherwise has very similar qualities and should mature well. Feminine head of correct length and proportions. Her fore chest is not quite as developed but has plenty of time on her side, lovely neck into well laid shoulders. Good spring of rib. Stronger in pasterns than 1. Level in her topline, well set tail and balanced in the rear. A super coat. Just not the rear drive today. PGD/B (1,0) 1st Stead’s Ravensett Illusionist of Settavista 2yr Blue Belton Dog – this is a super, upstanding male, unmistakingly a dog but not a hint of coarseness but elegance and strength. Correct proportioned head, well defined stop and oval skull. Correct bite. Lovely eye and ear with a fabulous expression. Very clean in the neck into very well laid shoulders, balanced to his super rear. Strong topline and loin, held well on the move. Deep in the chest, elbows close and a well defined sternum. Lovely coat, condition and feathering. Absolutely effortless on the move with front reach and drive. BOB OD/B (1,0) 1st Smetton-Minson’s Gordon Hall Euphoria at Chywoon (Imp Rus) 7yr Orange Belton bitch – you would not know this is a veteran. Pushed hard for BOB and was splitting hairs with the dog. So much to like about her – totally feminine, elegant and graceful on the move with front reach and drive. Lovely coat and condition. Correctly proportioned head with oval skull, dark eye. Lovely clean neck into well angulated shoulders, deep chest and well sprung ribs. Well angulated rear which she used well on the move.
Pointers
Such a super, quality entry – I really was spoilt for choice – there are some super youngsters coming through which I am sure will have extremely good futures. PD/B (5,0) A super class, not surprised to see 1st to 3rd were litter mates and could easily swap places. 1st Nelis’ Freebreeze Carla Lane 11mth B/W BP, PGRP1 & RBPIS 2nd Macmanus’ Freebreeze Gertrude Stein at Luneville Litter sister to 1st and an easy critique to write as all the same qualities – the classic splitting hairs and it came down to movement, just not quite as clean in the rear. Will come on well I am sure. JD/B (3,0) 1st Oddie’s Sharnphilly Euphoria for Riowood 13mth O/W bitch – extremely mature for her age, this is a strong and muscular bitch with such elegance on the move. Super feminine head with well defined stop. Correct bite. Chest well developed for such a youngster, lovely front construction, her elegant neck flows into well laid shoulders. Strong slight sloping pasterns. Ribs well sprung and strong in her loin and topline. Her rear is balanced to her front, using both very well on the move. So much to like and should continue to come on well. 2nd Nelis’ Freebreeze Carla Lane PGD/B (7,5) 1st Baker and Swan’s Mattiboo Million Love Songs 2yr B/W dog. Upstanding male, shown in very muscular condition. Lovely head, well defined stop, super eye and expression. Strong, clean neck into well laid shoulders, balanced by his well constructed rear. Deep in chest, strong in his pasterns. Liked his topline and strong loin. Used his tail well on the move with a nice side gait but could be a little tidier out and back. 2nd Edmondson and Robertshaw Crookrise Sunbeam 3yr L/W bitch – another feminine bitch with lots of breed type, with a super head, dark eye, clean elegant neck. Well sprung ribs, strong loin and well angulated rear. Not the depth of fore chest required and sadly although she has lovely rear drive on the move, is a little wide at the front. OD/B (6,1) Another super class, making for some splitting hair decisions 1st Radcliffe’s Sh Ch Sniperay Edge of Glory JW 5yr O/W bitch – A super feminine pointer, shown in lovely coat and muscular condition, not surprised to see she is a worth champion. She has a beautiful outline stood, and holds it perfectly on the move. Elegant and graceful, full of the required curves. Super in head, well defined stop, such a kind expression from well set eye and ears. Correct bite. Clean, slight arched neck through to well laid shoulders, deep chest to her elbows, well sprung ribs, a lovely strong topline, loin and short coupled. Well constructed rear totally balances her front. All of which to combined to effortless movement, lashing her tail, clean out and back, with front reach and rear drive. BOB & GRP3 2nd Mason’s Morgan van Freebreeze (Imp NLD) 7 yr old O/W bitch – another super bitch with very similar qualities to 1st super in her head, neck, front and rear construction. Shown in lovely condition. I was surprised to hear her age. Very good on the move, lovely side gait, front reach and drive.
NSDTR
PGD/B (2,0) 1st Brand’s Coedhelyg Jingle all the Way 5yr dog – shorter stature than 2nd but preferred his rear angulation and shorter topline than 2nd. Slightly wedge shape head, with lovely eye and high, triangular ears. Correct bite. Clean, strong neck into nice front construction. Deep chest, with straight legs and slightly sloping pasterns. Strong loin and short coupled with a slight sloping croup to his correct set tail. Lovely coat and feathering. Stronger on the move than 2nd, covered the ground well. 2nd Hall’s Briztollie Mamma Mia – 2yr bitch, taller and longer cast but beautifully feminine. Shown with correct coat and feathering. Correct slightly wedged shaped head, with dark eye and high ear set. I would prefer a tad less width in skull. Correct bite. Strong in neck and front construction, just not quite the stifle to balance which showed on the move with a little less rear drive than 1. OD/B (2,0) 1st Smyth’s Camusmor Mak Siccar 4yr dog – super masculine Toller full of breed type, from his wedge shaped head, eye and high set ear, through to his strong neck set well onto well laid shoulders. Chest deep, straight front and strong pasterns, has super feet. Well sprung ribs. Strong topline, loin and couplings with a correct tail set. Lovely rear construction, which produced reach and drive on the move. Shown in lovely coat and feathering. BOB
Spaniel (Cocker)
PD/B (3,1) 1st Mason’s Sandlauga Bailey’s on Ice 9mths blue roan and tan bitch – 2 super pups – the bitch just a little bit more together than the dog currently. Most definitely merry, feminine and compact in her outline, holding her topline on the move, with a super action with rear drive for one so young. Like her head, with its square muzzle and defined stop. Dark in eye giving a soft expression. Correct low set ear. Good bite. Clean and strong in her neck, into sloping shoulders. Strong in bone, chest developing nicely as are her ribs. Short coupled and strong loin, level in her topline with a correct slope in croup to her tail. Well constructed rear with good stifle. Shown in good coat and condition. BP 2nd Babester’s Kalispell’s The Player 10mth – a lovely male full of breed type, presents a lovely cobby outline and is nice to watch on the move with a super side gait, just not as clean out and back today, but not unexpected for his age and will tighten as he matures. Very masculine but in no way coarse at all, liked his head, with its square muzzle and well defined top. His ears are low set and his dark eye gives a lovely expression. Already nice in his brisket, ribs sprung and strong in his loin and topline, sloping his croup to his tailset. His neck was placed nicely into his shoulders, all balanced to his good rear construction. JD/B (1,0) 1st Stapley’s Lynwater Nessarose 15mth – lovely square and compact male with a very merry disposition. Nice in head with correct equal proportions, square muzzle and defined stop. Well set ear and eye. Strong neck, nice front and rear angulation which he used very well on the move. Deep chest, well sprung ribs and strong in the topline and loin. Correct tail set. Should continue to mature well. PGD/B (3,2) 1st Redstone’s Tosiparose Super Ted – 3yr compact in outline, with correct head proportions, eye and low ear set. A super expression. Strong in his neck to well laid shoulders, just deep enough in his chest, well sprung ribs, strong in loin and topline, with correct set tail. Short coupled, nice in stifle and rear construction. Shown in lovely coat and condition. Extremely merry on the move with a nice side gait, reach and drive. OD/B (4,2) 1st Butterfield and Stapley’s Ludzska Royal Saphire 3yr blue dog – Most certainly fits the description of merry. Square in outline, very strong on the move with lovely rear driving action and front reach whilst maintaining balance and his topline. Lovely bone and substance, and masculine in his head but this does not mean coarse or overdone in any way. Strong neck into sloping shoulders, liked his depth of chest and overall front construction, which he showcased on the move. Super feet. Well sprung ribs, strong and muscular back and rear construction. His stifle has moderate angulation. Correct set tail. Shown in lovely coat and condition. BOB
Spaniel (English Springer)
PGD/B (1,0) 1st House Gleadsbury Mad About the Boy JW – 2yr L/W male. An extremely balanced dog stood and on the move. He presented a picture of masculinity, bone and substance but still maintaining the racy, merry requirement without a hint of coarseness. Liked his slightly rounded head, medium in size, with a dark eye with ears set level given a lovely expression. Correct bite. Clean, good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Liked his depth of chest and spring of rib. Strong in his pasterns. Short coupled, strong topline and loin. Very nice rear construction. Lovely coat and condition, with correct feathering. He used his balanced construction well on the move, to achieve reach and drive whilst maintaining his topline. BOB

Low set ear and correct bite. His clean neck flowed seamlessly into his well laid shoulders with the remainder of his front construction balanced with a deep brisket and good front bone. Ribs well sprung, and shows a good strength in his topline and slightly arched loin. Rear construction balances to his front, with a well set, feathered tail. Lovely coat and muscular condition. On the move he covered the ground easily with reach and drive, and a lovely to watch side gait. BOB & GRP2
Import Register (Gundog)
JD/B (1,0) Grime’s Pry Acta Non Verba at Ansona (Imp SVK) 17mth SRP bitch. Stood alone but a worthy winner. Beautifully balanced young bitch, feminine but with correct bone and substance, and shown in muscular condition with a correct textured jacket. Pretty in her head, with correct length and equal proportions. Nice to see a median furrow. Correct amber eye colour giving a nice expression, ears set moderately high. Correct bite. Clean in her neck, well laid shoulders, deep enough in her chest, but still more to come. Straight front with strong pasterns. Ribs well sprung and well back to short couplings and strong loin. Firm topline leading to well set tail. Balanced rear to her front, used together well on the move. BIR PGD/B (1,0) Boughton’s Gameglow Back to Black – 2 yr Braque D’Auvergne bitch. A very pretty, feminine bitch with a super unmistakenly female head, long and lean with correct divergence head planes. Dark and well pigmented eye. Low set ear, all combined to present a lovely expression. Good length of neck and well laid shoulders. Front construction needs to strengthen, especially in her pasterns but has age on her side. Ribs well sprung, well back. Moderate in her stifle and a muscular rear construction. Strong topline with correct slope to her croup and tail set. Shown in lovely condition. Nice side gait, but a little erratic coming towards, which should improve as she tightens in front. OD/B (1,0) 1st Boughton’s Parkbalk Ariel Dianell Avec Brwynstep 3yr Braque D’Auvergne bitch. Heavier boned but still feminine, presenting a balanced outline stood and on the move. Long and lean head with correct eye and ear set, but I would prefer a slightly darker eye colour. Pronounced occiput and correct divergence. Balanced front and rear angulation which she used well on the move to produce reach and drive, she does tend to fly her tail though. Nice depth of chest, spring to her ribs and strong back and loin. Shown in lovely condition.
AVNSC Gundog
JD/B (2,1) 1st Starkie and Taylor’s Lucoro Fire up the Night 15mth O/W Italian Spinone bitch – a young bitch who needs to mature and fully come together, but everything where it should be for her age. Stood presents a square outline, correct bone and with a harsh jacket. Lovely head with correct divergent head planes, skull width and equal length of muzzle to stop to occiput. Nice median furrow. Her eye colour compliments her orange colour and present the super, soft Spinone expression from underneath her full lovely eyebrows. Correct bite. Strong in her next with required dewlap, set onto well laid shoulders of good width. Nice depth of chest with a good sternum. Good oval bone, and strong, slightly sloping pasterns. Ribs well sprung and back to a strong loin and short coupled. Has the correct rise and fall topline required, sloping croup to a well set tail. Broad in the rear with balanced angulation to her front. Has lovely reach and drive, holding her topline, just a little loose out and back, which should tighten as she matures. BOB

PGRP 3 – Redrafi Tesero – 7mth HWV dog – what a super young HWV this is – full of breed type with the most lovely correct russet colour and harsh fitting wire jacket. Presents a balanced picture stood and on the move, which belies his young age. Super head of correct proportions, with a just enough width to his skull as required and slightly rounded. Moderate in his stop. His coat is enough to give the square impression of the breed. Eye of good colour and correct bite. So balanced and correct in his front and rear construction which he uses well on the move, already presenting reach and drive. He has the most wonderful side gait. Chest of good depth and will continue as he matures. Ribs well back and short coupled. Strong in his topline and has a well set tail which he carries correctly on the move, not always seen in the breed currently. Should have a very promising future.
PGRP 4 – Harris’ De Lombardie Spirit of Barleyarch (Imp CAN) – 8mth GSP dog – this is a super young GSP, I said to the handler he is so moderate in everything and workmanlike. Absolutely no exaggeration of any kind, presenting a fabulous outline stood and on the move, of bone, substance, powerful and yet still light on his feet and elegant. Like his well proportioned head, dark eye and high set ear. Correct bite. His long full, muscular, strong and clean flows into his well laid shoulders, with the correct narrowness of the top of the blades. Straight in his front with his chest depth enough for his age and will continue to come as he matures. Ribs well back and really liked how short coupled he is ensuring a strong loin and topline. Liked his tail set from a slightly sloping croup which he carried horizontally which is always nice to see. Balanced well muscled rear with well angulated stifles. Super feet. Shown in lovely condition. Effortless on the move already for one so young, with reach and drive. A good future ahead I would think.
