Boston & District Canine Society

Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

I would like to thank the committee of Boston DCS for inviting me to judge the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels at their show. Thank you to the exhibitors for allowing me the opportunity to go over your dogs; your entry was greatly appreciated, as was your sportsmanship.

Puppy - (4, 0)

1st - Chadwick’s Ellemich Love Bomb at Chadlia

Beautifully balanced puppy with a very sweet, gentle expression. Lovely large dark eyes; a bit fine in face and needs more fill below the eyes. Good teeth. Lovely chest with a good spring of rib, level topline and correct tail set. Moved well with parallel movement. Good coat for her age with well broken markings. Couldn’t deny this puppy first place. BPIB.

2nd - Spall & Clark’s Llapsttam Victoria

Very balanced baby with a happy temperament. Lovely large dark eyes; could have more fill below the eyes likely to come with time. Well laid shoulders, beautifully straight topline and compact, well-cushioned feet. Lovely coat. Moved well but not as settled as 1st. A lovely, promising baby.

Special Yearling - (6, 1)

1st - Chapman and Ireland’s Ellemich Pure Passion

Beautifully balanced with a sweet expression. Lovely dark eyes with good ear set; I’d prefer larger eyes and more fill below the eyes. Excellent length of neck, good shoulders and chest. Good spring of rib and short-coupled body. Level topline with correct tail set and good stifle. Moved beautifully with plenty of drive. RBOB.

2nd - Spall & Clark’s Llapsttam Techno Notice

Beautiful shape to this B&T puppy with a lovely coat; balanced but slightly longer in body than 1st. Pleasing head proportions and a shallow stop, whilst still maintaining a sweet and gentle expression. Moved well.

Post Graduate - (6, 3)

1st - Chapman and Ireland’s Ellemich You Make Me Blush

A feminine bitch with a gentle expression. Plenty of fill below the eyes. Heavier marked but with enough white. Good chest, level topline, correct stifle and lovely tail set. Perhaps a touch more leg underneath her would present a more balanced outline. Moved with grace and elegance, maintaining a lovely topline on the move.

2nd - Bloomfield’s Oaklake Limitless

Balanced heavily marked tri-colour with a well-tapered muzzle but muzzle longer than preferred. Needs more fill below the eyes. Good topline and stifle with well feathered compact feet. Moved well.

Limit - (4, 0)

1st - Stanton’s Cassandy Say Something Nice

I loved this boy; a well-balanced male with plenty of breed type. Well-broken with gorgeous markings. A masculine head with large dark round eyes and plenty of fill below the eyes, whilst maintaining a pleasing gentle expression. Ears set high. Good chest; shoulders could be set further back but adequate. Excellent topline and good stifle. Moved beautifully when he settled and movement was parallel. Whilst he has lovely balanced proportions, he is on the larger side.

2nd - Chapman and Ireland’s Ellemich Infatuation

Lovely well-broken balanced girl but could be stronger on her back end and her expression could be softer. Despite that, there is much to like about this girl. She has large dark eyes; ears set high. Good chest; well-laid back shoulders with a lovely topline. Good stifle. Moved well.

Open – (4,1)

1st - Chadwick’s Juzandia Lady Bug at Chadlia

I loved this girl. Beautifully balanced girl with a melting gentle expression. Large dark round eyes with plenty of fill below; her head is very cavalier. Adequate neck. Lovely chest with a level topline. Good stifle and correct tail set. Lovely silky coat with rich chestnut markings well broken on a pearly white background. I could have taken this girl home. She moved beautifully and was at one with her handler. Groomed and handled to perfection. BOB.

2nd - Dawson’s Luphenex Highland Fling

Gentle head but needs more fill below the eyes. Lovely long ears set high. Good shoulders. Good topline; back end could be stronger. Correct tail set with good feathering. Moved soundly but lacked the finish of the winner.
