Highland Canine Association – Saturday 25th April 2026 – Judge Katrina Wallis (Camellis)

I would like to thank the committee of Highland Canine Association for the invitation to judge Golden Retrievers at their April 2026 show. Thank you to my steward on the day for keeping me right and all the exhibitors for their entries. Lovely show and was made very welcome.

RETRIEVERS (GOLDEN)

Class 1 Retriever (Golden) Special Yearling (2 Entries, 1 Absent)

1 Warden – Holinbrae Eurastar at Glentochty JW – 19 month old male in pale golden coat. Lovely masculine head, balanced, well chiselled with a kind expression and good length of neck. Ribs deep and well sprung, nice round cat like feet. Gave his handler a bit of a challenge when moving him today, so unfortunately, wasn’t able to see his complete movement

Class 2 Retriever (Golden) Post Graduate (3 Entries, 0 Absent)

1 – Saunderson – Drumkilty Rebel Song for Crobeag – 2.5 year old female in lovely pale coat with a beautiful feminine head. Very balanced with deep well sprung ribs and a loverly topline which she kept on the move. Forelegs straight with good bone and well laid back shoulders. Moved around the ring with power and drive, at one with her handler. Pleased to award her Best of Breed and later to discover she won Gundog Group 4 in a lovely group.

2 – MacKenzie – Faithful Heart Stevie Nicks at Varadero – 3 year old female, lovely feminine head with beautiful pale coat. Good length of neck, straight forelegs with good bone and well laid back shoulders. Balanced and symmetrical with level topline which she kept on the move, round cat like feet. Moved well with handler.

3 – Warden – Holinbrae Zoom Time at Glentochty

Class 3 Retriever (Golden) Open (4 Entries, 0 Absent)

1 – McGugan – Westlow The Legend of Fingal at Invergoil Culzean. 3 year old male in beautiful golden coat. Lovely masculine head with kind expression, good reach of neck, clean and muscular. Forelegs straight with good bone, shoulders well laid back with close fitting elbows. Ribs deeps and well sprung with level topline, which he kept on the move. At one with his handler and moved easily around the ring.

2 – Younie – Glenrioch Storm Trooper – 9.5 year old male in lovely golden coat. Beautiful masculine head with kind expression. My notes say, wow can’t believe this boy is 9.5 years old, he moved around the ring with ease and at one with his handler. Straight forelegs with good bone, very balanced and symmetrical with a lovely level topline which he kept on the move. What a lovely veteran.
