Lichfield Canine Society – Sunday 4th January 2026

I would like to thank the committee of Lichfield Canine Society for the invitation to judge Golden Retrievers at their January Premier Open Show on Sunday 4th January 2026. Thank you to my stewards on the day for keeping me right and all the exhibitors for their entries. Lovely show and was made very welcome.

RETRIEVERS (GOLDEN)

Class 444 Retriever (Golden) Puppy (6 Entries, 2 Absent)

1 Copley – Ashbyglen True Colours at Emmabe – 8 month old male in lovely golden coat. Very symmetrical in shape and well balanced for his age, nice level topline which he kept on the move. Forelegs straight with good bone and shoulder well laid back, ribs deep and well sprung. Lovely young boy and at one with his handler. Best Puppy in Breed and delighted to see that he was awarded Gundog Puppy Group 3 later in the day.

2 Millington – Strettonhills Bring it Home to Jarabees – 6.5 month old male in beautiful golden coat, lovely head with kind expression. Forelegs straight with good bone and feet round and cat like. Very balanced and symmetrical for his age with a lovely topline, very promising young boy, just preferred the movement of 1st place today.

3 Taylor & Tenn – Strettonhills Bees Knees

Class 445 Retriever (Golden) Junior (6 Entries, 5 Absent)

1 Smith – Goldmaker Alderbaran – 15 month old male in beautiful golden coat. I judged this young boy last year when he was a puppy and he has matured beautifully, such a shame that he stood alone today. Very balanced and symmetrical in shape, straight forelegs and well laid back shoulders. Lovely male head with kind expression, moved around the ring with ease showing off his level topline and at one with his handler.

Class 446 Retriever (Golden) Yearling (9 Entries, 7 Absent)

1 List – Haydengold Latest Gossip JW – 15 month old female in beautiful pale coat. Lovely feminine head with kind expression and nice dark eyes, well set apart. Very balanced and symmetrical both standing and on the move showing off the most level topline. Good length of neck with straight forelegs and well laid back shoulders. Moved around the ring at ease with her handler. Lovely example of the breed, one to watch in the future. Pleased to award her Best of Breed

2 Grindey – Branstead Lovely Jubbly JW – 19 month old female in lovely golden coat. Beautiful feminine head with lovely dark eyes. Nicley balanced and symmetrical, short coupled with ribs deep and well sprung. Straight forelegs with shoulders well laid back, level topline which she kept on the move. Moved well with handler.

Class 447 Retriever (Golden) Post Graduate (9 Entries, 8 Absent)

1 Falconer – Cheek to Cheek Unbridled Dreams for Siatham (Imp Fra) JW – 2 year old female in lovely pale coat. Very balanced and symmetrical with level topline which she kept on the move. Lovely feminine head with kind expression. Forelegs straight and well bones with round catlike feet. Moved well with handler showing off her level topline.

1 Loverock – Putjade Peaky Blinder at Lovissa – 8 year old male in beautiful golden coat. Lovely head, well chiselled with a kind expression. Forelegs straight and shoulders well laid back. Very balanced with ribs deep and well sprung. Moved well and at one with his handler. Pleased to award him Reserve Best of Breed

2 – Millington – Golmas Guard of Honour at Jarabees JW. 4 year old male in beautiful golden coat. Lovely well chiselled head with kind expression, very balanced and symmetrical in shape. Ribs deep and well sprung with beautiful level topline which he kept on the moved. Moved around the ring at ease with his handler.
