Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at their show. I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment and wish to extend my gratitude to the exhibitors for their entries on what turned out to be a very warm day.

Border Terriers

I was very pleased with my entry both numerically and in quality. I was absolutely spoilt for choice in some classes and was delighted with my final line up.

P (4,0) 1 Spafford's Dassett Silhouette. Eye catching, well balanced b/t bitch of good size, put down in good order with a good jacket. Lovely otter head and dark eye. Well ribbed with good bone. Neat front, standing on good feet. Spanned easily. Pleasing outline with a good topline, which she held on the move and a good tail set. Racy hind which she used well on the move. Pleased to award her BPIB and lovely to see that she went on to win PG3. 2 Cummins's Kewhaigh Confession. Another of good size and type. Lovely head and expression with a good reach of neck. Narrow front. Spanned easily. Well balanced with good ribbing. Good coat and thick pelt. Moved out well. 3 McPherson's Brumberhill Bit of a Do. J (6,0) 1 Shields's Wilholme Angels Envy. Feminine, well proportioned head with correct bite. Scored highly with her reach of neck and well laid shoulder. Neat in front and standing on good feet. Strong loin and well ribbed back. Nice harsh coat with good pelt. Easy span. Very balanced angulation fore and aft. Strong loin. Racy hindquarters used with drive to take the class. Pushed hard for higher honours. 2 Stephenson's Fryerfold Morsgill another lovely youngster. Very pleasing to go over. Super head and expression with a dark eye and strong jaw. Turned out beautifully in admirable condition. Well put together all through and one of the best coat and pelts on the day. Well balanced, with a good topline giving her a lovely, clean outline. Moved with exuberance, strode out well when settled. 3 Spafford's Dassett Oberon JW. Y (3,0) 1 Barber's Alcumlow Sip and Swirl JW. Loved this young bitch for her overall balance. Feminine but with strength to her well proportioned head. Lovely dark eye and expression. Super reach of neck into a well laid shoulder with a good return of upperarm. Narrow all through, spannable with a good coat and pelt. Racy hind which she used to carry herself very well on the move presenting a lovely outline. Handled to bring the best out in her. Very pleased to award her RBOB. 2 Rogers's Jackview Miss Dior. Well proportioned, feminine head of correct proportions with good ear and dark eyes. Narrow front with a good length of neck. Spannable. Well balanced with a nice outline, moved well. 3 Hales-Tilley's Jenxi Turn the Tables. N (1,0) Hales-Tilley's My Little Betty. Workmanlike, feminine bitch with a strong muzzle and good set of teeth. Good reach of neck. Well balanced with a good jacket and pelt. Tail set on well. Moved well. G (1,0) Shields's Wilholme Angels Envy. PG (2,0) 1 Cummins's Kewhaigh Innocent Man JW. Masculine head with a strong jaw and big teeth. Game expression. Straight front with strong pasterns and neat feet. Good reach of neck, spannable, well ribbed back with a strong loin. Overall presented a pleasing outline. Strong hindquarters used well on the move. 2 Hardman's Whitedyke Faye at Spanwise. Strong, attractive head with a nice expression. Nicely balanced fore and aft with good coat texture. Good tail and set on. Unfortunately playing her handler up so very difficult to assess movement. Handler needs commending on his perseverance! L (3,1) 1 Houghton's Chorbeck Like a Star. Well balanced bitch with a feminine head and lovely expression. Well balanced fore and aft with good reach of neck and well laid shoulder. Super coat and pelt. Moved well. Liked her type and she presented a nice outline, unfortunately just carrying a little extra weight today. 2 Fawcett's Carrick Complicated JW. Strong feminine head, well proportioned with good dentition and jaw. Lovely straight front with good feet. Ample reach of neck. Strong loin, tail set on well. Well balanced fore and aft with a good depth of chest. Moved well. O (5,1) 1 McPherson's Ch Brumberhill Bit O'Blarney JW. What a pleasure to go over this B/T dog. He caught my eye immediately. So well balanced. Broad, masculine skull with a dark eye and well set ears giving him a beautiful, keen expression. Narrow throughout, standing on neat feet. Good reach of neck flowing into a well laid shoulder, good return of upperarm. His fore angulation balances his hind well. Firm topline with good ribbing and length of loin. Easy to span. Correct tailset and carriage. In great coat with correct ticking. Presented a beautiful outline both stacked and on the move. Drove round the ring effortlessly and soundly. Delighted to award him BOB and very pleased to see him win the group. 2 Barber's Ch Alcumlow Monet's Garden. Another put down in great order. Very pleasing head qualities. Feminine but retaining strength. Lovely dark eye giving her a super expression. Super length of neck and well laid shoulder with good return of upperarm. Narrow all through and spannable with good ribbing. Well angulated fore and aft and presented in a good jacket. Presented a pleasing overall picture. Covered the ground well on the move. 3 Fawcett's Carrock Curiosity JW.
