My sincere thanks to the NWPB Society for the invitation to judge — it was a real honour and thoroughly enjoyable appointment. Special thanks also to the stewards whose efficiency, warmth and good humour kept everything running smoothly and made the day such a pleasure from start to finish.
Australian Shepherd
A quality class of puppies I was really spoilt for choice.
P (3) 1st Wray-Ramsden AUSSIE REVOLUTION CONQUER WITH GRACE VIA TAKHISIS.
Really lovely 8-month-old blue merle bitch with rich tan points. A very eye-catching youngster full of breed type and promise. Feminine, clean-cut head with bright, alert expression, correct ear shape/set and beautiful pigmentation. Nicely balanced throughout with good neck into well-laid shoulders, firm topline and a body developing just as it should for her age. Moved freely with light, agile action and plenty of enthusiasm. Coat of correct texture and well presented. A very appealing youngster with an exciting future ahead. BPIB. PG3.
2nd Cowley SPARKAWAY GRAB A GRANNY. Very attractive 6-month-old bitch showing plenty of breed type and early promise. Feminine, clean-cut head with bright expression, good pigmentation and correct ear. Nicely balanced throughout with good neck into well-laid shoulders, firm topline and body developing well for her age. Coat of correct texture & well-presented. Today she was just a little unsure in the busy show environment and this affected her confidence both standing and on the move. However, when she relaxed she showed light, agile movement and a glimpse of the quality she clearly possesses. With time, maturity and ring experience I know her confidence will grow, allowing her many virtues to shine through. A very promising youngster with lots to like and definite bright future ahead.
J (3,1) 1st Morley & Brazier DIZZY MARBLE GRAND PRINCE. Well-balanced 15-month-old tricolour male, slightly longer than tall with good muscle and moderate bone. Masculine, clean-cut head with alert, keen expression, correct ears and good pigmentation. Strong neck flowing smoothly into well-laid shoulders, firm level topline and well-developed body with good depth of chest and broad loin. Hindquarters balanced with forequarters, stifles moderately angulated and hocks well let down. At times showed a tendency to pace which momentarily affected his rhythm; however, once settled into a moderate gait he proved super sound, moving straight and true with smooth, agile stride and maintaining a firm topline. Coat of correct texture and well presented. RBOB.
2nd Cowley SPARKAWAY GETS MY GOAT. Promising 6-month-old red merle male of pleasing balance, moderate bone and developing muscle. Attractive, clean-cut head with alert expression, good pigmentation and correct ear set. Well-placed shoulders, level topline and body coming along nicely for his age. Good angulation fore/aft, showing the structure for smooth, agile movement. When settled he moved freely with good reach and coordination. Just a little more confidence today would have allowed him to fully show his potential— I honestly wished I had two first places as he really pushed hard for the class win.
PG (3,1) 1st Krizova GIENNAH TAARIKA MEA MARALAKES (IMP CZE). Charming 19-month-old blue merle bitch with rich tan points. She presents a lovely picture in profile, with clean lines, moderate bone and a soft yet alert expression. Her head is refined and balanced, ears correctly carried. Standing naturally, she shows a firm topline, well-placed shoulders and a body developing beautifully for her age. On the move she is smooth and agile, covering the ground with ease and maintaining her topline. What gave particular pleasure today was watching her young handler — such a joyful, confident partnership, handled with care and obvious pride. It is always heartening to see a youngster presenting her dog so sympathetically and effectively, making them a pair to watch for the future.
2nd Harvey TRIJEM DOUBLE TOPAZ. Really liked this 18-month tricolour bitch — feminine, well balanced and presenting a very pleasing outline. Sweet, alert expression with correct ear carriage and good pigmentation. She stands naturally with a firm topline and shows a nicely put-together body for her age. When moving she showed sound construction and covered the ground well, but on the day just lost the top spot to the winner’s slightly more fluid action. That said, there is plenty of quality here and much to admire. A very honest young bitch who should have every chance of doing well as she continues to mature.
O (2) 1st Knott ZUNI SOMEONE U LOVED FALLCAT JW. Cracking 2-year-old blue merle male with tan points who impressed for his overall quality and athletic presence. Slightly longer than tall with moderate bone and good muscle, he presents the balanced, workmanlike outline so typical of the breed. Clean, masculine head with well-set ears, good pigmentation and a keen, attentive expression. Strong neck flowing smoothly into well-laid shoulders, firm topline and a broad, well-muscled loin. His movement really stood out — free, agile and effortless, covering the ground with ease while keeping a steady topline. Shows the agility and stamina expected, able to change pace smoothly without losing balance. Coat of correct texture and handled well. Confident, animated temperament. A thoroughly appealing young male who combines type, soundness and style — I particularly loved his movement, which made him a joy to watch. BOB.
2nd Gibbons CH WISPAFETE ONCE UPON A DREAM. Lovely 5-year-old tricolour bitch who clearly exemplifies the breed and fully justifies her title. Balanced with moderate bone, good muscle and a confident showgirl. Feminine, clean-cut head with alert expression, correct ear set and good pigmentation. Good neck flowing into well-laid shoulders, firm level topline and well-proportioned body with depth of chest and strong loin. On the move she is typically smooth and agile, maintaining balance and soundness, and today was presented in excellent coat and condition. Expertly handled, the partnership polished and sympathetic, allowing her quality to shine. On this occasion, however, I just preferred the slightly greater fluency and drive of the class winner. That said, she remains a quality exhibit, deserving champion and a pleasure to judge.

O (2) 1st Hollifield CH RICHEARON DALDEN VW. Outstanding 10-year-old black and tan male of exceptional quality who continues to impress with his noble presence and breed character. Large, powerfully built and slightly longer than tall, he combines great substance with surprising agility. His impressive headpiece is a real highlight — broad skull, well-defined stop and strong square muzzle, all lending that calm, dignified expression. Dark expressive eyes and correct ear carriage complete the picture. Strong, well-muscled neck flows into well-laid shoulders and a firm, level back with broad, muscular loins. Deep chest with well-sprung ribs provides strength without heaviness. Hindquarters powerful with moderate angulation, allowing measured, purposeful movement that remains free and balanced even as a veteran. Coat remains of excellent quality, dense and weather-resistant, with a well-developed mane enhancing his imposing outline. Tail well feathered and correctly carried. He was self-assured and quietly watchful, showing the independent guardian nature. A truly outstanding veteran male who exemplifies the breed’s strength, dignity and character. BOB, GP3 & BVIS.
2nd Roberts CH CALLOWDALE TENZIN NYIMA. 2-year-old black male, still maturing but already showing plenty of quality. Large, powerfully built with good bone and a slightly longer-than-tall outline. Masculine head developing well, with broad skull, defined stop and strong muzzle. Dark eyes and correct ear set. Strong neck into well-laid shoulders, firm back and broad loins, with depth of chest developing nicely for his age. Hindquarters powerful with moderate angulation, allowing purposeful, balanced movement when settled. Coat of correct texture with good density. Tail well feathered and correctly carried. Son of the class winner and clearly inheriting many of his virtues. RBOB.
Canadian Eskimo Dog
P (1) 1st Hooley AKNA ZIRA. Promising 7-month-old bitch showing plenty of character and breed type. Sturdy, well-boned youngster with a developing outline and good muscle for her age. Feminine head with correct wedge shape, well-set erect ears and alert, keen expression. Thick neck into broad shoulders, deep chest and strong back all coming along nicely. Hindquarters already showing strength, suggesting future power and endurance. Coat dense with developing undercoat and correct harsh outer texture. Tail well set. Movement purposeful when she settled, showing the strength expected of this hardworking sled dog.Today she was delightfully naughty and clearly enjoying herself, which affected her focus, but this is very understandable at this age. With maturity, confidence and experience, she should channel that enthusiasm well. A lively, promising youngster. BPIB.
OD (3,1) 1st Bailey IR CH AKNA PANDA. Impressive 2-year-old male. Strong, sturdy and well boned with the powerful physique expected of a freighting sled dog, yet never cumbersome. Broad wedge-shaped head with keen, attentive expression, well-set erect ears and dark correct shaped eye. Thick muscular neck into broad shoulders, deep well-developed chest and strong level back, all suggesting strength and endurance. Powerful hindquarters with well-muscled thighs and good angulation, producing purposeful, steady movement that reflects his working heritage. Large, well-arched feet with thick pads and correct bushy tail . Coat dense with harsh guard hairs and ample undercoat, well presented and clearly functional. He gives the impression of a dog who could step straight from the show ring into polar exploration without missing a beat. BOB.
2nd Hooley AKNA PALMATUM. Strong, 20-month-old male with many pleasing breed attributes. Sturdy, well boned and powerfully built, presenting a balanced outline. Masculine wedge-shaped head with keen, attentive expression, well-set erect ears and correct eye shape. Thick, muscular neck into broad shoulders, deep chest and firm level back. Well-developed hindquarters with good angulation give steady, purposeful movement typical of the breed. Large well-padded feet, correct bushy tail and dense, weather-resistant coat. While sound and capable on the move, today he didn’t quite show the same fluidity as the class winner.
OB (2) 1st Hooley SNOQUALMIE FAIRY FIREFLY. Very appealing 21-month-old black and white bitch whom I liked a great deal for her balance, breed type and honest working outline. Sturdy and well boned without heaviness, she presents the powerful yet agile physique expected of freighting sled dog. Feminine wedge-shaped head with well-set erect ears, dark correctly shaped eyes. Thick, muscular neck flowing into broad, well-laid shoulders, with a deep, well-developed chest and strong level back. Her body suggests endurance and capability rather than speed. Hindquarters well muscled with good angulation, producing purposeful, steady movement that remained balanced throughout. Large, well-arched feet with thick pads and a correctly carried bushy tail. Coat dense and weather resistant with good harsh guard hairs and ample undercoat, well handled to her advantage. A quality young female one I admired very much and expect to continue to do well. RBOB.
2nd Aktins IR CH LUX CH QIMUGTA MISS MARPLE. Well-made 4-year-old black and white female. Sturdy and well boned with good substance. Feminine wedge-shaped head with alert expression, well-set erect ears and correct eye shape. Good angulation fore/aft. Hindquarters well developed with good muscle and producing steady, purposeful movement. Large, well-padded feet. Coat dense with good undercoat and harsh guard hairs. A sound, capable female with much to commend, differing in type from the winner but nonetheless a strong and authentic example of the breed.
