BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG

Thank you to Litchfield canine society & The Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Great Britain for the invitation to judge, it was truly an honour. Hugely grateful to the exhibitors for taking time out of their festive celebrations to come to the show, especially with the adverse weather conditions. There were some wonderful examples of the breed in all the classes, which made for some tough decisions.

P (6,2) 1st Oliver Bridges’ LISKARN LOVE ME LIKE YOU DO. Wonderful feminine 9 month old bitch, of a self-confident disposition, who excudes breed type and quality. Strong head with well-defined stop, dark brown almond shaped eyes, medium-sized triangular-shaped ears correctly set. Strong jaw with correct dentition. Correct body ratios and excellent angulation fore/aft. Short round, compact feet. Coat was soft, silky with a natural luster. This youngest really came into her own on the move, wonderfully balanced and effortless on the go around. Super clean coming and going. Couldn’t deny her this class win, BPIB & RBOB. No doubt a bright future ahead.

2nd English, Hallam & Hallam’s WALDERSHELF PRIM’N PROPER. Super pretty and just a tad giddy 6 month old little lady. It was a delight to watch her revel in her time in the show ring. Another youngest of excellent quality, with many of the same attributes of 1 but just preferred movement on the class winner today.

J (3,1) 1st Love & Johnson’s GORSEBERN MISTER TWISTER. 14 month old male, strong and masculine with balanced outline. Correct body ratios. Strong head, at right level of maturity for age. Dark brown almond eye. Ears, triangular medium sized and set correctly. Wonderful angulation fore/aft. Short, round and compact feet. Great movement.

2nd English, Hallam & Hallam’s WALDERSHELF PRIM’N PROPER.

PG (1) 1st Small’s MALINDIBEACH CARTIER. 2 year old bitch, feminine head, dark almond eye and correct dentition. Nice outline & ratios. Sadly today was lacking in confidence due to a previous incident at a show. She was especially unsettled while being examined at judges table. That being said she came alive on the move and settled as the class and subsequent challenge commenced. I wish her considerate handler the best of luck, trying to regain the dogs love for showing again.

O (3,1) 1st Manix,Manix & English’s CH WALDERSHELF BJORN TO BE KING JW. 2 year old eye catching male that I have had the pleasure of judging before as a youngster. Impressive throughout. Exceptional breed type, outline/ratios, with just the right amount of bone without being overdone. Masculine strong head with slight furrow and well-defined stop. Dark almond shaped eye, medium sized triangular ear and correct dentition. Excellent angulation fore/aft. Feet compact, short and round. Tail of correct length. Correct coat texture with wonderful sheen. Movement was harmonious, powerful and true. Clean coming and going, expertly handled to BOB and WG1. Easy to understand by this boy has so many accolades to his name already. Congratulations!

2nd Cox’s FANCY PANTS VON ROMANSHOF AT BULLDAXIT (IMP POL) 19 month old male, masculine head, good eye colour and shape. Flat skull with correct stop. Good neck length well laid shoulders and chest is broad enough at this age. Great overall shape/outline. Good angulation fore/aft. Moved soundly with reach and drive.
