Great Yarmouth Gorleston & District Canine Society

Thank you Jackie and the Great Yarmouth, Gorleston and District team for inviting me to judge at your lovely show! I am so grateful to all my exhibitors for presenting such high quality dogs – I had some really tricky decisions and dogs could have swapped placed on another day. All exhibits were sympathetically handled, with the cool weather and interesting ground surface making this quite a challenge at times for enthusiastic dogs!

Puppy 5 (0 absent)

This was a very strong puppy class, with exhibits showing great potential, enthusiasm and promise for the breed. The ground surface challenged the puppies in particular, making all handlers work hard to show even movement. However, I really appreciated the patient handling, and with development and a smoother ring, the placings could have gone any way.

1 Aurorasdream Rainfire

This 10-month-old bitch caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. Oozing quality, carrying defined, firm muscle even for a youngster. Balanced, moderate angulation and a lean, workmanlike outline. Moved effortlessly, tending to single track on the out and back, covering the ground with ease. Held a solid topline on the move, level in stand with a good slope to the croup and tailset. Head very much to breed type, correctly proportioned, moderate stop, great earset, mischevious expression. A very well earned BPIB, and shone in the Group.

2 Lyrvid The Last Bit Of Cash

Another very promising 8-month old dog. A little livelier today, making his handler work hard, but still showing how his balanced overall construction, good length of leg and angulation result in clean, smooth, ground-covering movement. Excellent head with typical expression, using his ears to advantage.

3 Lyrvid Needs A Bit Of Cash

Special Yearling 1 (0 absent)

1 Aurorasdream Rainstorm

Litter sister to the Puppy winner; another excellent, feminine bitch who excels on the move. A little longer in the back and with a lean, firm loin and slight arch to croup, but still in proportion. Good length of leg, tuck up and depth of chest. Croup and tailset good, tail carriage a little higher but did not affect movement. Good earset and head proportions with lovely expression. Pushed hard for BP, will watch her development with interest.

Limit 3 (2 absent)

1 Zawkkast Reaper’s Finn

A defined, well-muscled 2-year-old dog who had a good firm loin, sloping croup and tailset. Excellent proportions being slightly longer than tall, with good length of leg. Sometimes showing a slight turnout of the front feet when standing, likely influenced with ongoing maturity. Very slight slope to topline when standing, however held firm and level on the move, tending to single track on the out and back. Showing excellent reach and drive, a more even surface and larger ring would have favoured his movement further. Excellent head of good width, good ear size and keen expression. Pleased to award RBOB.

2 Forstal’s Polyanthus

A feminine 3-year-old bitch but with no loss of strength or structure, with well-developed chest and overall physique, covering ground with her efficient, balanced gait. In stand and maintained on the move she has a super profile, balanced angulation, lovely firm loin and level topline. Moving away she tends towards single track, but coming forward she was a little wide today (watching her handler with much enthusiasm!). Pushed hard for 1st, being a little more settled may have changed her placing today.

Open 8 (3 absent)

1 Forstal’s Drifter

A stunning example of the breed. At 5 years old, this dog exemplifies a working Siberian. Superb depth of chest with correctly-sprung ribs, contributing to a balanced profile and front and rear angulation. Lean, firm loin, slight arch to croup with excellent tailset and carriage at all times. Correct pasterns, good neat feet. Totally sound on the out and back, and in profile with a rock-solid topline, effortlessly covering the ground with confidence, balance, lightness and stability at all times. Good, masculine head with keen expression and lovely almond eyes. Out-moved all other today to a thoroughly deserved BOB, representing our breed with pride in the Group.

2 Zawkkast Ex Lax

6-year-old dog who is in his prime. Moderate bone, good, balanced front and rear angulation. Good depth of chest and length of leg, resulting in light, effortless movement. Strong topline and firm loin, all held well in stand and in profile. Excellent head with inquisitive expression, using his ears to advantage. Tended to single track on the front as speed increased, but moving slightly wide on the back today. A little shorter coupled and more square in profile than 1, but still an excellent example of a workmanlike Siberian.
