Thank you to the committee for inviting me along to judge some classes as well as the Gundog group. I have to say I was spoilt for choice by the BOB winners sent through from the other judge and really enjoyed getting my hands on some really lovely dogs.

AV Gundog Import Register Open (3, 2abs)

1st Leitch’s Oljafi Angel’s Dream. A young Barbet with a beautiful appealing, broad head. What a happy girl she is! She is well off for bone with lovely straight legs and depth of chest. A good strong, short neck. She is well angulated in front with good upperarm. Her topline is level with correct, lower tail set. Accurate rear angulation and well let down hocks. Moved very well both straight and true.

English Springer Spaniel Graduate (1)

1st Stevenson’s Spuffing Daiquiri at Gaolachcara JW. This girl is full of character. She is very workmanlike to look at. She is friendly and happy with the most beautiful head. What a sweet expression! She has a lovely length of neck flowing onto her well laid shoulders. A smashing topline and well sprung ribs. She has straight legs, a good bend of stifle and completely balanced throughout. She moved very well when settled and with drive. BOB and delighted to award her Group 2.

English Springer Spaniel Open (2. 1abs)

Stevenson’s Peasblossom Brogan at Gaolachcara. He has a kind expression, and his neck is strong and of good length. He has well boned and straight legs and a deep chest. He is muscular with a strong topline and good bend of stifle. This boy was more consistent in his movement today than his kennelmate and kept straight and effortless throughout. I just preferred her overall package.

AVNSC Gundog Open (8, 4 abs)

1st Logie’s Sh Ch Graf III Vom Busshof at Albadhu ShCEx. A handsome boy with an intelligent expression. He has a strong neck leading onto a good lay back of shoulder. Legs straight and a good depth of chest. A lovely topline that slopes gently to his croup. Good turn of stifle and muscular throughout. Moved well and straight. BAVNSC

2nd Richardson’s Bardonhill McIntosh Red at Montgreenan JW. A handsome boy with a kind eye. With a long and muscular neck, he also has a good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. He is strong in topline with a well bent stifle. Carrying his tail well, he moved with drive showing straightness.

Group 1 Scotland and MacLean’s Lynwater Moon Walk – cocker spaniel. What a wee cracker of a youngster! A happy character with an intelligent expression. He has a muscular neck leading onto his shoulders. Well boned throughout with a lovely topline. Good angulation fore and aft, compact and balanced throughout. Moved with drive, straight and true. Could easily have taken this one home!

Group 2 Stevenson’s Spuffing Daiquiri at Gaolachcara JW

Group 3 Harper’s Tullochmohr Shooting Star at Glynerva JW – Golden Retriever. This girl, shown today in beautiful coat, has such a sweet head and expression. She has a good length of neck flowing onto well laid back shoulders. A good depth of chest and well sprung ribs, she has a level topline. Well let down hocks and good bend of stifle. She moved straight and true

Group 4 Nicolson’s Knockhalon Spooktacular of Taranstigh. Clumber Spaniel. He has a broad head with kind expression. His neck is long and strong leading on to his shoulders. This boy has a good front with well boned legs and round feet. He has a good length of body and well bent stifles. Covered the ground straight and effortlessly.

AV Gundog Puppy (7, 4abs)

Three lovely babies!

1st Parker’s Bruadarach Ballachulish. This 6 month old puppy has such a handsome head with a good length of neck, both strong and placed into laid back shoukdrrs. He has good bone throughout and dead straight legs. Correct depth of chest, strong level topline and short coupled. He has good rear angulation with well let down hocks. Moved steadily and straight, covering the ground well.

2nd Scotland’s Lynwater Bramble Blossom. Gorgeous, pretty head with a good length of neck leading onto sloping shoulders. Straight legs with good depth of chest. She has a level topline and accurate tail set. She has well bent stifle and moved well with drive.

AV Gundog Veteran (4, 2abs)

1st Logie and Braidwood’s Sh Ch Albadhu Pawsitive Vibes JW. A really lovely 7-year-old with a pretty head and kind eyes. Good muscular length of neck onto well laid back shoulders. She has dead straight forelegs. Her back is strong, and ribs are well sprung. Well let down hocks and she moved really well, effortlessly and long striding with power. Best Special Gundog Veteran

2nd McMahon’s Ir Sh Ch Silverkelvin Jupiter over Magsala VW. Weimaraner. Another lovely veteran, one brought through to a strong group. 8 years old. Handsome head with an intelligent eye. He has a long neck, clean and strong. His legs are straight, chest deep and he has a strong level topline. Hocks are well let down and he has a good turn of stifle. Well-muscled. Covered the ground with ease.
